Volume 6 + Chapter 72: The Eerie Thick Fog

“Stop right there, Balan! You’ll halt right now!!” Xia Yi shouted loudly.

While running, Balan actually pulled out his harp and began to play.

Because he was a bard, his music carried magical power, was he… buffing himself??

After playing, he seemed to have wind beneath his feet, sprinting like an arrow, his speed even surpassing that of the rabbit tribe, who were known for their swiftness.

    This was utterly absurd.

Although bards were considered a jack-of-all-trades buffing class, Xia Yi had never seen one operate like this before. Who runs while playing an instrument and casting spells?

Today was an eye-opener, this land truly was not lacking in eccentrics.

However, Xia Yi was no ordinary person either. She used her body techniques to increase her speed. Even without magical enhancement, she could catch up to Balan, though it might take a little time.

Suddenly, a massive figure emerged from the thick fog, stepping past Balan and coming toward Xia Yi.

    This was… a giant!

The giants in the thick fog would annihilate all outsiders except elves.

The giant raised its enormous foot and brought it down toward Xia Yi, intending to squash her into paste.

“Tch, giants are such a nuisance…!” Xia Yi clicked her tongue.

    “Milady, charge through!”

Just as Xia Yi hesitated, Atiya’s voice came from behind.

Without looking back, Xia Yi trusted Atiya and continued forward, not slowing down to avoid the giant’s stomp.

“You troublesome thing, fall!” Atiya cried out.

Xia Yi heard the sound of something cutting through the air.

In the next instant, nearly a hundred weapons flew from behind simultaneously, like a rainstorm, all striking the giant.

These were all thrown by Atiya!

Although the weapons looked ordinary, just a wide variety with an imposing display, they couldn’t harm the thick-skinned giant on their own. But upon touching the giant’s body, violent magical fluctuations spread, and the weapons detonated.

Hundreds of weapons exploded like magical bombs on the giant’s body, blasting the mysterious giant that had appeared in the thick fog into pieces.

A riot of colorful lights burst forth like fireworks.

Xia Yi’s eyes widened. Amazing! Was this another way to use weapons?

Maybe she should try it with the Holy Sword?

The Holy Sword was so powerful, it could surely cause a massive explosion.

As soon as this thought popped up, she felt a sharp sting on the back of her hand, clearly the Holy Sword protesting.

“I was joking, old friend. Don’t mind me, hahaha!”

Xia Yi quickly comforted the displeased Holy Sword.

The Holy Sword barely calmed down and stopped its fussing.

    “Balan, surrender!”

With no further obstacles, Xia Yi quickly caught up to Balan.

She had distanced herself from the rear, leaving the giants behind in the thick fog.

What she needed to do now was simple.

She raised her hand. As soon as Balan entered the range of her magic, she condensed an ice sword in her palm. By throwing the ice sword at Balan, she could temporarily incapacitate this absurd bard.

    Got him!

Just as Xia Yi was about to release the ice sword, a familiar feeling rose in her heart.

The airflow ahead changed. A figure appeared.

It was not someone she knew, but rather…

    She sensed a kinsman.

    “ROAR!!!”

From within the thick fog came a sky-shaking dragon’s roar, and then a hideous-faced dragon appeared?

    Xia Yi was stunned.

    What was going on?

Not only giants, but now dragons in the Elven Kingdom as well??

The giant dragon dove toward Xia Yi, raising its claws, between which burst high-temperature flames.

This was a classic technique of the red dragon tribe’s elite, Blazing Suppression.

The dragon claws descended upon Xia Yi, flames engulfing her.

    “Rose Staff!”

Xia Yi raised her hand and summoned the Rose Staff.

    Sleep magic!

The silver-haired dragon loli swung her Rose Staff, simultaneously releasing ice magic to counter the high-temperature flames, striking the dragon claws head-on.

    Boom!

This dragon’s strength was far inferior to that of the Royal Maidservant Corps. It was roughly at the level of an elite ordinary dragon soldier. Naturally, this attack could not harm Xia Yi.

Instead, the red dragon was affected by Xia Yi’s attack, stunned mid-air, lost its balance, and crashed to the ground.

“Why is there a dragon in the Elven Kingdom? Who are you!” Xia Yi questioned the red dragon in the dragon language. “Are you from the Dragon Kingdom, or a dragon residing in the Elven Kingdom?”

    “Grr, grr!!”

But the red dragon seemed devoid of reason, answering nothing, only growling lowly and showing hostility toward Xia Yi like an irrational wild dog.

    “Damn it…”

Xia Yi frowned. She felt that the Elven Kingdom was growing stranger by the minute. This situation might be beyond her original expectations.

However, she had no more time to try communicating with this red dragon.

The red dragon’s sudden interference had wasted some of her time. Balan had run farther away. If she didn’t catch up soon, she would lose him.

With no other choice, the silver-haired loli had to abandon this bizarre red dragon and dash forward.

If he could run and chant at the same time, so could she.

Before getting close to Balan, Xia Yi made thorough preparations. Using chant modulation, she prepared her magic and released it immediately upon approaching.

First, an ice cone knocked the harp from Balan’s hands, then frozen chains flew out to bind his body, and finally an ice wall descended to block his path.

Now the elven bard had nowhere to run. Xia Yi had caught him.

“Balan, have you caused enough trouble?” Xia Yi said angrily. “Stop running!”

“D-do you know what you’re doing?” Balan had become completely neurotic.

“I told you to lead us into the Elven Kingdom. Why did you run?”

“The ‘wind’ has told me that no outsider may set foot here. Your arrival will enrage the ‘wind.’ What happened just now was the punishment sent by the ‘wind’…”

Even though Balan was under Xia Yi’s control, he showed no fear. He seemed ready to launch into a vehement tirade.

But then he froze eerily, as if hearing something, his mouth hanging open wide enough to fit an egg.

“How can this be, how can this be… I didn’t mishear, did I…?”

“Balan, what are you talking about?” Xia Yi asked, puzzled.

Balan looked at Xia Yi, his expression unreadable, whether fear or confusion, his body trembling slightly.

Then he uttered a statement that surprised Xia Yi as well.

“The ‘wind’ is… welcoming you, Xia Yi.”
