    Volume 6 + Chapter 133: The High-Profile Xia Yi

“A rampaging blue dragon?” Xia Yi blinked.

“Yes. Outside Maginot Fortress, an evil blue dragon is causing chaos. Many soldiers have already been defeated by it,” Daisy explained. “That blue dragon is no pushover.”

“Why wouldn’t I dare? It’s just a blue dragon,” Xia Yi said with a confident smile. “When it comes to dealing with dragons, no one is more professional than me!”

“Xia Yi, you certainly are confident. Still, I’d like to test your abilities a little and see if you’re trustworthy.” Daisy made a proposal.

    “No problem.” Xia Yi agreed.

Xia Yi followed Daisy to the training ground.

Not far away stood several wooden training dummies.

“Xia Yi, do you have any requirements for a casting weapon?” Daisy asked.

    “No, anything is fine.”

“Then try using this staff first.”

Daisy handed Xia Yi a staff.

Xia Yi examined it and found it to be of quite outstanding quality, probably a custom piece for a powerful mage. But in the Mythic Age, it would have been just a standard military weapon.

    “Feels comfortable to use.”

Xia Yi channeled a little magic into the staff, making the gem set in it glow.

“Xia Yi, the test is simple. You just need to hit those targets continuously with magic,” Daisy explained. “I will evaluate your performance. If you pass, I’ll let you join the front-line combat unit.”

    “This…”

“What’s wrong? Is it too difficult?”

Xia Yi shook her head. “No, I just think it’s meaningless. In actual combat, enemies don’t stand still. This kind of magic test is not suitable for the battlefield.”

    “Oh?” Daisy raised an eyebrow.

“You little girl, you’ve clearly never been on a battlefield, yet you spout such arrogant nonsense. You have no idea of your limits!”

Suddenly, a dissatisfied voice rang out from the training ground.

Xia Yi looked over and saw a vampire soldier wearing the Maginot military uniform. He was tall and carried a huge iron hammer on his back. With steady, powerful steps, he entered the training ground.

    “Wallace?” Daisy called his name.

“Daisy, I understand that Maginot Fortress needs all kinds of people to join and work together, but fighting on the front lines is no joke. How can we let this kid play house here?” Wallace pointed at Xia Yi. “Little girl, you’d better go to logistics. Farming there is more your style!”

    “Little girl?”

“Yes. Did I say something wrong?”

“I also find it too boring to use wooden dummies as a test. Why not let you and me have a fight instead? What do you say?”

“Are you serious? Do you know how strong I am?”

    “Do tell.”

“I have personally killed a Calamity Beast, without anyone’s help!” Wallace announced proudly.

In the Maginot military, being able to kill a Calamity Beast alone was already the mark of an elite soldier.

And Wallace was one of those rare elites.

“Xia Yi, Wallace is an elite-level warrior. There’s no need to go head-to-head with him,” Daisy said helplessly. “He’s always been like this, blunt and straightforward, often offending people.”

“That’s right, little girl. You’d better back off while you can.”

“If you’re that strong, then I think a test is even more necessary,” Xia Yi replied.

“Fine, fine. You won’t give up until you see the coffin, will you!” Wallace declared. “Let’s have a real fight then. Daisy, don’t stop us. This is the little girl’s idea!”

    “…Sigh, all right.”

    Daisy sighed.

She voluntarily stepped aside, retreating to the edge of the training ground and giving up the space.

The news that Wallace was going to test Xia Yi attracted many onlookers.

“Are you kidding? Wallace is going to bully a girl?”

“But I heard she wants to join the front-line combat unit and fight Calamity Beasts. Wallace doesn’t approve…”

“Can she handle it? The front lines aren’t a playground!”

The crowd buzzed with discussion, watching the excitement from the sidelines.

“Are you ready?” Xia Yi asked.

“Ready. Let’s start the test,” Wallace said.

“No. I meant, are you ready to make a fool of yourself in front of everyone?”

    “What?”

At first, Wallace didn’t understand why Xia Yi would say that.

The next moment, he sensed danger. A sword of ice fell from above.

He quickly raised his arm to block it, but it still cut a wound, and blood flowed without stopping.

    “Who launched that sneak attack!”

Wallace was furious and roared at the spectators.

The onlookers were equally bewildered. None of them had been casting spells.

    “What’s going on?”

    Wallace couldn’t understand.

Casting magic should require incantation time, casting motions, and time to channel mana into the staff. The only possibility was that someone in the crowd had cast the spell. There was no way it could be,

By the time Wallace realized, it was too late.

A wall of fire appeared directly in front of him.

    Boom!!

The scorching flames engulfed the elite soldier of the Maginot military.

    “Damn it!”

Wallace emerged, singed and disheveled. Now he was truly injured and had to use his blood pool to heal himself.

He dared not slack off. He pulled out his war hammer.

    “Blood Magic: Berserk!”

Wallace’s eyes glowed red. The blood magic burning his vitality sent him into a berserk state, and with enhanced strength, he broke through the flames.

But as soon as he charged out, several chains of ice flew over and bound his body.

    “Now, it’s over.”

On the tip of Xia Yi’s staff, crackling electricity gathered. She compressed the violent lightning into a sphere about to explode.

She walked step by step toward Wallace, ready to blast him point-blank.

    “Damn it!!”

Wallace panicked. He tried to break the ice chains with his body, but as soon as he shattered one, another immediately formed and bound him again.

Just as Xia Yi was about to give Wallace a big surprise, Daisy quickly spoke up, “Enough! This test ends with Xia Yi’s victory!”

Under the astonished gazes of the crowd, Xia Yi won the fight.

Wallace was thoroughly humiliated. Now he understood why Xia Yi had said what she did earlier.

“I admit it now. You’re stronger than me.”

Xia Yi smiled. She withdrew the staff and canceled the magic, very satisfied with the result.

She wanted to enter the Maginot military with a high profile, show off her strength, attract the attention of the upper echelons, rise as quickly as possible, and obtain information about the World Tree.

Meanwhile, on a high place that no one noticed, a silver dragon girl wearing a mask watched the training ground battle.

“So your name is Xia Yi. What an adorable name.”
