Volume 6 Chapter 101
by Golden DragonVolume 6 + Chapter 101: A Hail of Bullets
“This is a Vulcan cannon capable of killing even dragons! Justice Bringer, go to hell before the Vulcan cannon!”
A member of the public security patrol shouted arrogantly at Xia Yi.
“To take you down, the City Lord even deployed armed helicopters! You can die without regrets now!”
“Vulcan cannon? Helicopter?”
Xia Yi seemed to realize what they were talking about.
The weapon mounted by the security patrol was the Vulcan cannon, and the flying vehicle before her was called a helicopter.
This had to be technology from the Mythic Era.
It was truly unbelievable, humans riding helicopters could actually fly through the skies just like dragons.
But now was hardly the time for admiration.
The barrels of the Vulcan cannon began spinning. Massive amounts of ammunition were loaded beside the weapon, far exceeding the capacity of ordinary firearms.
This did not look good at all.
“Frost Magic Shield!”
Using chant suppression, Xia Yi cast a protective ice shield before herself at the fastest possible speed.
“Die!!”
The patrol member roared.
The six barrels of the Vulcan cannon spun at terrifying speed, so fast the naked eye could barely keep up, the motion almost becoming a blur. Violent streams of fire burst forth, shaking the air as an overwhelming storm of bullets erupted.
Clang-clang-clang-clang-clang!
The bullets all slammed into the ice shield. Xia Yi quickly felt cracks beginning to spread across it.
The Vulcan cannon’s firepower was simply too monstrous. Its suppressive capability was on an entirely different level from ordinary guns, far beyond them.
Their earlier boast had not been exaggerated at all.
A Vulcan cannon truly could kill dragons.
With this absurd level of firepower, it could pierce dragon-scale armor and blast bullets straight through a dragon’s body.
Crash!
The ice shield shattered apart, and the endless barrage of bullets was about to strike the Human King Armor directly.
But Xia Yi reacted instantly.
She stomped the ground fiercely, ripping up a slab of flooring to use as a temporary shield.
Though it only delayed the barrage for less than half a second, it gave her the opening she needed to move.
At astonishing speed, Xia Yi sprinted toward the rooftop entrance, kicked the door clean off its hinges, and rushed into the building.
She assumed that with the skyscraper serving as cover, the patrol’s helicopter would have no way to attack her.
But she was wrong.
“Pilot! The Justice Bringer’s inside the building! Move the helicopter closer and continue the pursuit!”
“Understood!”
The hovering helicopter moved again, drawing dangerously close to the building until it was nearly pressed against it.
After estimating where Xia Yi might appear, the patrol members opened fire on the building itself. Bullets tore through the walls as easily as blasting apart blocks of tofu.
As a result, the golden armored swordsman was exposed once more to their line of sight, and the target was locked onto again.
Xia Yi froze briefly.
She had underestimated just how determined they were to kill her.
“You can’t escape, Justice Bringer!”
“Tch!”
Xia Yi clicked her tongue and leapt forward, jumping down to the stairway below as she began sprinting through the stairwell.
The patrol pursued relentlessly. Their gunfire never stopped for even a moment. Whatever floor Xia Yi reached, they riddled that floor with bullets.
“These people are insane!”
Xia Yi complained.
Thankfully, this was an office building, and there was no one here at night.
If this had happened during the daytime, she felt the security patrol would have turned the entire place into a river of blood.
The Vulcan cannon had been firing continuously from the rooftop all the way down to the third floor without stopping. The front side of the office building had already been blasted into countless holes.
Xia Yi felt as if the entire structure was on the verge of collapse.
“Flashbang to the third floor, now!!” one patrol member suddenly shouted.
Xia Yi had no idea what that meant. It sounded a lot like… requesting support?
Then she saw a small cylindrical object tossed through a large hole in the wall from below, landing right in front of her.
The next instant, the object exploded.
Blinding white light filled the entire world, while the shrill sonic shockwave made her ears ring violently. Both her vision and hearing suffered severe disruption.
“Now you can’t move, huh? Let’s see where you run now! Die, Justice Bringer!”
The patrol member pulled the trigger and unleashed another savage barrage at the golden armored swordsman.
Clang-clang-clang-clang-clang!
The sound of metal impacts rang endlessly through the air.
Xia Yi was blasted backward and collapsed onto the floor.
“Did we kill her?”
The patrol member ceased firing and smiled as he stared at the motionless Xia Yi.
He had absolute confidence in the Vulcan cannon’s destructive power.
Once those six barrels started spinning, it didn’t matter whether the target was strong or weak, warrior or mage, everyone met the same fate.
True equality through overwhelming firepower.
“Serves you right.”
“Go collect the body,” the pilot reminded him. “Once we deal with Justice Bringer, the reward will be enough for us to spend for the rest of our lives.”
“Yeah.”
The patrol member jumped down from the helicopter, handgun in hand, and slowly approached the armored swordsman.
But the moment he reached Justice Bringer’s side, his expression changed drastically.
Even after enduring such terrifying firepower from the Vulcan cannon, the armor… hadn’t been penetrated at all!
“Why the hell are you still alive?!”
The patrol member frantically emptied his handgun into her as a finishing blow.
But if even Vulcan cannon rounds couldn’t breach the Human King Armor, then a mere handgun was even more hopeless.
While bullets continued striking her body, Xia Yi slowly rose back to her feet.
“Are you done yet?”
“Huh?”
The patrol member froze.
Then his pupils contracted violently.
Xia Yi drove a fist straight into his abdomen, instantly knocking him unconscious.
“Not good! The Justice Bringer can still fight!!”
The pilot inside the helicopter panicked at the sight and instinctively tried to flee.
Xia Yi picked up several chunks of rubble from the ground and hurled them toward the helicopter’s rotor blades with immense force.
The rotor was struck and crooked immediately.
The helicopter shook violently in midair, lost balance, and spiraled uncontrollably downward.
BOOM!!!
The helicopter crashed into the ground and exploded, flames engulfing the wreckage.
“So it just… crashed like that?” Xia Yi said in surprise. “That thing’s way too fragile.”
It seemed helicopters did allow humans to fly through the skies like dragons, but they clearly had weaknesses.
Unlike dragons, these machines lacked durability.
“The Justice Bringer’s here!”
Xia Yi suddenly heard noisy shouting from outside.
She walked to the edge of the third floor and looked down,
Below, countless members of the security patrol had already surrounded the building. Several more helicopters hovered overhead, sealing off the airspace. Searchlights shone down upon her, illuminating the golden armor amidst the darkness.
Beeeeep, Beeeeep, Beeeeep,
The silver dragon loli heard the warning alarm signaling that the Human King Armor’s energy was nearly depleted.
The possession state would soon end.
And her true appearance was about to be exposed before everyone.
[Translator’s Note: I decided to replaced Man of Justice with Justice Bringer because it’s better sounding.]
