Volume 6 + Chapter 92: The Lord of Molent

“My sincerest apologies, Lord City Lord. Such an incident occurring within the Molent City under your governance…”

The Commander of the Public Security Patrol lowered his head in apology.

    “…”

The City Lord continued flipping through the newspaper in silence, ignoring the commander for quite a while before finally asking.

“Has Lao Huo been arrested already?”

“Yes. Mister Lao Huo, along with his business partner Bi Yangde has already been taken into custody.”

    “And their condition?”

“They suffered severe injuries during the explosion and remain unconscious. According to the doctors, even waking up again will be extremely difficult.”

“Oh? I see.” The City Lord’s tone carried little emotion.

“Lord City Lord… should we release them?” the commander asked cautiously.

The reason he dared ask such a thing was because Lao Huo was a personal acquaintance of the City Lord. The two knew each other well.

The City Lord had visited the Old Times Wine Cafe before and enjoyed long conversations with Lao Huo there.

“Release Lao Huo? How could that be possible? Everyone in Molent already knows about the things he’s done, don’t they?”

“We could attempt to control public opinion.”

“It’s useless. Controlling the media won’t matter anymore. The fire has already spread. The common people know the truth now, and there’s no extinguishing it. If we forcibly protect Lao Huo, public trust will only collapse even further.”

    The City Lord sneered coldly.

“The correct approach is to put him on trial while he’s still unable to wake up, convict him publicly, and use him to calm the public’s anger. Push every bit of blame onto his head. We can even take advantage of the fact that he cannot defend himself and have him shoulder a few additional troublesome charges.”

“Lord City Lord is truly wise!” the commander hurriedly praised. “That way, not only can public outrage be appeased, but we can also use this opportunity to rid ourselves of several complications.”

“The higher-ups acted with good intentions, only to be deceived by Lao Huo… Make sure everyone hears that version of events. Have the media write their reports accordingly.”

    “Understood!”

“Lao Huo’s matter isn’t the troublesome part. What concerns me is this…”

    The City Lord frowned.

His gaze settled upon the three words printed in the newspaper: The Righteous Man.

“Who exactly is this so-called Righteous Man?”

“Lord City Lord, we still haven’t located this Righteous Man. The investigation is ongoing at full force. The most direct witnesses would naturally be the people who were inside the Old Times Wine Cafe at the time, but those individuals are currently…”

    The commander paused.

“Therefore, we’re also searching for additional eyewitnesses. If there are any developments, we’ll report them to you immediately.”

“First, let me confirm something. This Righteous Man truly exists, correct?” the City Lord asked.

“Yes. According to our investigation of the tavern ruins, there are obvious traces of battle everywhere. Particularly within the remains of the third-floor hall. Aside from bullet holes, there are also slash marks left by blades. Based on our deductions, the sheer force involved would require a massive beastman similar to Bi Yangde wielding a giant sword. We intend to search Molent City using that profile as our target.”

“Good. You must drag this person out into the open.”

The City Lord rose to his feet and walked toward the enormous floor-to-ceiling window. Through the glass, he overlooked the city below, his city.

    The window reflected his appearance.

He was a tall, powerfully built male elf with a refined and handsome appearance.

“Molent City has no need for heroes.”

“Heroes are destabilizing elements. I absolutely will not allow such an uncontrollable variable to exist within my city.”

“The appearance of this Righteous Man may inspire countless imitators. I refuse to let Molent become that kind of place. The Righteous Man must be eliminated as quickly as possible. Understood?”

“I understand, Lord City Lord. However, locating the Righteous Man may require some time…” the commander hesitated.

“Commander, I do not wish to see the Righteous Man active a second time,” the City Lord said sharply. “There are many people eager to climb into your position. Consider this a reminder.”

The commander’s body trembled. Sweat began forming in his palms as immense pressure descended upon him. He immediately changed his tone.

“Lord City Lord! Please rest assured, we will capture the Righteous Man as soon as possible! He is no hero, merely a dangerous criminal! You will never witness the Righteous Man act a second time!”

“Very good, Commander. I like your confidence.” The City Lord nodded in satisfaction. “Now then, take responsibility for your own words.”

“Yes, sir.” The commander bowed deeply.

After leaving the City Lord’s tower and returning to the ground below, the Commander of the Public Security Patrol headed straight for headquarters.

Following the City Lord’s orders, he convened an emergency meeting and passed the commands down.

Every patrol officer was ordered to work night shifts and increase citywide patrols in search of the Righteous Man. Any suspicious individual connected to the case was to be apprehended immediately. If the suspect resisted, lethal force was authorized.

The patrol officers accepted the orders and prepared to begin operations that very night.

Once the meeting concluded, the commander left the room. Thinking back on the immense pressure he had endured before the City Lord, he couldn’t help but sigh heavily. Sitting in that position truly wasn’t easy.

    “Sigh…”

“What’s wrong, Commander?” one of his subordinates asked in confusion.

“All my life, I’ve walked on thin ice. Do you think I can really make it safely to the other side?”

    So sleepy.

    So sleepy, sleepy, sleepy…

Xia Yi continued working inside Qiu’s dessert shop.

Since she had barely slept at all the previous night, exhaustion was overwhelming her. Her eyelids were practically fighting to stay open.

“Miss Maid, I’d like one smile, please!” a customer requested in front of her.

“Sorry, dear customer, maid smiles cost extra. Please check the pricing menu~”

    “What?! That’s way too expensive!”

“That was the boss’s decision, so there’s nothing I can do…”

    “Then insult me instead!”

    “Insults also cost extra.”

“Why is getting insulted even more expensive than a smile?! Boss, I want to file a complaint!”

The dissatisfied customer stormed off to argue with Qiu.

Xia Yi planned to hold out until lunch break so she could sneak in a quick nap and recover some energy.

    Suddenly, someone outside shouted.

“The City Lord is about to speak!!”

The moment they heard this, everyone inside the dessert shop rushed outdoors, including the customer who had just been arguing with Qiu.

Curious, Xia Yi followed them outside. She saw airships circling above Molent City, projecting an enormous image into the sky.

Clearly, it was the Lord of Molent himself.

The instant Xia Yi saw his face, her eyes widened in utter disbelief. Her drowsiness vanished completely.

    Why is it him?!
