Volume 6 Chapter 32
by Golden DragonVolume 6 + Chapter 32: Serious Consequences
“Waaaaaaah!!”
Elly sat on the floor and began wailing loudly.
The others were completely dumbfounded.
Just before entering Xia Yi’s room, Elly had spouted a slew of bold words, insisting she could persuade Xia Yi to come out.
She had succeeded, so why was she now having a breakdown?
“Junior, why are you crying?” Atiya asked, genuinely confused. “You accomplished what you swore to do, didn’t you?”
“That’s right, Elly. What method did you use?” Lucia pressed. “You actually solved a problem that had us all stumped.”
“I told Her Highness that I had a way to save Her Majesty the Queen and told her not to panic. Only then did the Princess agree to eat…”
“Junior, you have a way to save Her Majesty?!” Atiya nearly jumped up. “I really underestimated you before!”
“Elly must be in possession of some little-known secret art. I’ve heard your background is quite mysterious…” Lucia was beginning to see Elly in a new light.
But Elly’s next words left them both utterly floored.
“I was panicking, and I spoke without thinking. I made it up just to coax the Princess into eating. How could I possibly save Her Majesty the Queen…?” Elly said pitifully.
“…”
“…”
Atiya and Lucia both fell silent. Their expressions changed.
“It’s over.” Lucia covered her face.
“Junior, have you gone mad?!”
Atiya, in a fit of urgency, grabbed Elly by the collar and lifted her off the floor.
“You’ve seen what state the Princess is in! And you still dared to deceive her with the Queen’s condition? When Her Highness comes to you later for the solution, what will you do?”
“I… I…”
Elly stammered under the barrage of questions, unable to speak for a long while.
“You are so dead!”
Atiya put Elly down, her cheeks twitching.
“The Princess will definitely kill you. In fact, killing you might not even be enough to vent her fury! She’s heartbroken and suffering, and she needs an outlet. And you just had to go and court death like this!”
“Waaaahhh, it’s over, my head is definitely not staying on my shoulders!”
Elly let out a wail.
It was the first time she had felt death so close to her.
“If I run away now, will I still make it in time?”
The little green dragon maid stood up to flee, but Lucia added a reminder.
“Elly, you might be able to run, but can your entire bloodline run?”
“Ugh…!”
Elly turned ashen. She no longer dared to even think of escaping.
Now, she was certainly done for.
…
…
“Your Highness, please eat.”
In the dining hall, Serra placed the prepared meal in front of Xia Yi.
“…”
Xia Yi looked like a lifeless puppet, mechanically carrying out the task of eating.
She picked up her knife and fork and sent food into her mouth.
She did not comment on the flavors as she usually would. She remained silent.
Her silver eyes were murky, without the slightest ripple.
“Your Highness, if you don’t like that, you don’t have to eat it,” Serra reminded her. “That’s just a garnish.”
Beside the steak lay some broccoli.
That was the very food Xia Yi normally would never put in her mouth under any circumstances.
Yet this time, she did not stop her knife and fork. She put the broccoli into her mouth, swallowed it just like the steak, without any refusal.
“Xia Lulu told me not to be picky,”
Xia Yi replied in a flat, toneless voice.
Her voice was hoarse, devoid of any emotion.
“Princess…”
Xia Yi’s state of mind pained Serra deeply.
She truly hated seeing her beloved little princess reduced to such a walking corpse.
But Xia Lulu’s condition was far beyond what she could resolve.
“Serra, I’m done eating.”
Xia Yi put down her knife and fork and looked up at her personal maid.
“…Your Highness, let me take you to bathe. After that, you should sleep,” Serra proposed.
“Mm.”
…
…
With Serra’s assistance, Xia Yi washed herself and returned to her room, where she lay down to sleep.
Before falling asleep, she made one request to Serra.
Wake her in four hours.
Although Serra felt that four hours would certainly not make up for the sleep lost over the past several days, Xia Yi insisted and would not tolerate opposition.
Serra could only agree.
After tucking Xia Yi in, she left the room and found the other members of the Royal Maids Corps.
“Has Her Highness fallen asleep?” Lucia asked.
“Yes,” Serra nodded. “She ate something, then I helped her bathe, and now she’s asleep. But she insisted on only four hours.”
“At least she’s getting some rest and won’t collapse immediately,” Lucia said with a slight sigh of relief.
“Should we wake her after eight hours instead?” Atiya suggested. “Four hours is too little.”
Serra shook her head. “No, Her Highness would be angry. Even though she’s not herself right now, if she truly gets enraged, the consequences will be very, very severe. I can say that with certainty.”
“The consequences will be very, very severe…!”
Elly was in despair. She sped up her farewell letter, writing out her last wishes.
“What’s wrong with Elly?” Serra asked in confusion.
“Ah, about the junior, ”
Atiya explained the situation to Serra.
After listening, Serra was speechless for a long while. Finally, she managed to force out a single sentence.
“Elly… how dare you?”
“Waaah, stop scolding me, stop scolding me!!” Elly sobbed, tears streaming down her face. “In my next life, I will never be this bold again!”
…
…
Four hours passed.
Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Elly accompanied Serra to Xia Yi’s room to awaken the sleeping silver dragon princess.
After Xia Yi woke up, she sat on the bed and stared coldly at Elly.
Serra left the room, leaving the space for conversation.
Elly trembled all over, not daring to lift her head and look at Xia Yi. She fidgeted with her fingers, her breathing rapid, her stress exploding. She felt no different from being led to the execution ground.
“Elly, I did as you asked,” Xia Yi began. “Now can you tell me the way to save Xia Lulu?”
“…”
“Elly, why aren’t you speaking?”
“…”
“You were lying to me, weren’t you?”
“Your Highness, I am so sorry!! I… my mind went blank at the time!”
Elly waved her hands frantically and rushed to confess her fault.
But it was already too late.
Xia Yi got out of bed and walked toward Elly step by step, without a word.
Elly felt a bone-chilling, icy murderous intent.
She deeply regretted ever using Xia Lulu’s condition to lie to Xia Yi. It was like pouring salt on an open wound.
“Waaah, Your Highness, I… I really have no way. This matter is beyond my ability!”
Elly clutched her head and prostrated herself on the floor.
“Her Majesty’s level is so high, you should seek help from someone of equal strength to have any hope! For a small fry like me, even if I have the will, I don’t have the power! It takes a certain amount of power to do a certain amount of work!”
“…”
Xia Yi suddenly stopped in her tracks. Her eyes widened, and her expression changed.
“Elly… what did you just say?”
