    Volume 6 + Chapter 112: Broad-Minded

The Human Arbiter appeared in a way Kennedy could never have anticipated.

Up ahead, atop a tall building platform, a figure suddenly launched itself outward, and that figure was… a motorcycle.

The Human Arbiter, clad in golden armor, was riding the motorcycle as it descended from the sky directly toward the black convertible.

“How did somebody catch up to us?!”

    Charlie was startled.

But his driving skills ranked among the very best in Molent.

He reacted instantly, performing a breathtaking emergency drift. Like a dragon whipping its tail, the sports car narrowly avoided the descending motorcycle.

“Shake him off first!” Kennedy shouted. “If we can’t lose him, we’re dead!”

    “Yes!”

Charlie abandoned the straight escape route toward West City and sharply changed direction.

He planned to weave through Molent’s streets, relying on his mastery of the city’s roads to lose the unexpected pursuer.

“Lord Governor, who is that guy? The Justice Bringer?”

“No. That’s not the Justice Bringer.”

Kennedy turned and looked behind them.

The Human Arbiter rode the motorcycle at terrifying speed, clinging tightly behind the black convertible like a predatory tiger refusing to release its prey.

“Damn it, where did he even get that motorcycle from?! Why is it so fast?!”

    Kennedy cursed inwardly.

The black convertible had been specially modified.

At full speed, ordinary vehicles should have had absolutely no chance of catching it.

At first glance, the Arbiter’s motorcycle looked completely ordinary.

But Kennedy noticed something horrifying, its surface was gradually being overtaken by golden armor, becoming the same metallic gold as the Arbiter himself.

Its internal structure had likely changed as well.

The motorcycle’s engine was probably no longer powered by normal fuel.

A desperate chase for survival unfolded through the burning streets of Molent.

The black convertible and golden motorcycle roared down the roads like two ferocious beasts.

And little by little, the golden figure was closing the distance.

    “Faster! Go even faster!!”

    Kennedy was genuinely panicking now.

He could not accept being caught and losing his final chance to survive.

He was the ruler of Molent City.

Now that the city had fallen completely into chaos, as its governor, he bore inescapable responsibility.

No matter the reason, the Human Arbiter would never spare him.

“The moment he catches us, we die! Charlie, DRIVE FASTER!!”

“Lord Governor, I’m already going as fast as possible!!”

Charlie already had the accelerator pressed completely to the floor.

The black convertible was operating far beyond its limits.

The entire vehicle shook violently, as though it might fall apart at any second.

    “DIE!!”

Unwilling to simply wait for death, Kennedy turned around, drew his firearm, and began firing wildly backward.

But under such extreme conditions, shooting was almost meaningless.

At these speeds, aiming itself was nearly impossible.

Every bullet became a matter of luck.

The shots merely struck near the motorcycle, outlining the Human Arbiter’s body without hitting him.

“Lord Governor, that road over there, we might be able to use it!” Charlie shouted. “At this rate he’ll catch us! That alley has many branching paths, and the lighting is poor, we may be able to lose the motorcycle!”

    “Fine! Let’s try it!”

    Kennedy agreed immediately.

Rather than wait passively for death, they might as well gamble everything.

    “Hm?”

Behind them, the Human Arbiter noticed that the black convertible had abandoned the wide main road and turned into a narrow side route.

Although he did not understand their intentions, he decided he could not allow it.

After a brief moment of thought, the Human Arbiter performed an extremely dangerous maneuver.

Through the rearview mirror, Kennedy saw the Arbiter steering the motorcycle one-handed while tilting the bike sideways.

With his free hand, he lowered a sword toward the ground.

The blade scraped against the road, throwing sparks everywhere while carving a long scar into the pavement.

“What is he trying to do?!” Kennedy cried out in confusion.

Suddenly, the Human Arbiter straightened his body and swung the one-handed sword upward.

A fierce slash of sword energy tore through the air toward the black convertible.

    “DODGE IT!!” Kennedy screamed.

Charlie noticed the incoming attack instantly and once again displayed miraculous driving skill, narrowly evading the deadly blade of energy.

    “You cannot avoid it.”

    The Human Arbiter spoke calmly.

    Charlie and Kennedy froze.

Because they suddenly realized, the Arbiter had never targeted the car itself.

The sword energy struck the building ahead, severing it cleanly in half.

The upper section collapsed downward, and the debris completely blocked the alley entrance.

    “We’re going to crash!!”

    Charlie’s face changed dramatically.

He slammed on the brakes, but the car was traveling far too fast.

The black convertible smashed directly into the wreckage.

    BOOM!!

The vehicle’s safety systems deployed, barely preserving Kennedy and Charlie’s lives.

    The impact was overwhelming.

Kennedy lost consciousness for several seconds.

His body felt as though it had been torn apart, blood covering his face.

Yet somehow, he still forced himself awake.

“Charlie… are you still alive?” Kennedy asked weakly.

    “Lord Kennedy… The car’s ruined… We have to get out now… or it’ll explode…”

    Charlie’s voice was extremely weak.

But if he could still speak, then he was alive.

    “…Alright!”

    Kennedy prepared to climb out.

But through his blurred vision, he saw golden armor descend onto the mangled hood of the car.

    It was the Human Arbiter.

Charlie and Kennedy’s minds both went blank.

In their eyes, this person was hundreds, thousands, of times more terrifying than the monsters.

    “DON’T COME NEAR ME!!”

    Charlie broke first.

He frantically pulled out a handgun and fired at the Human Arbiter.

The bullets bounced harmlessly off the armor without even leaving scratches.

The Human Arbiter extended a hand and grabbed Charlie by the throat, lifting him effortlessly like a chicken.

    The armored gauntlet tightened.

Like a python constricting its prey, the crushing pressure cut off Charlie’s breathing entirely.

“Arbiter sir, please let me explain…”

Kennedy tried desperately to beg for mercy.

The Human Arbiter gave him no opportunity.

He picked up the handgun Charlie had dropped, and fired a single shot into Kennedy’s chest.

The bullet pierced straight through his heart.

Charlie dissolved into particles just like the others who had died before.

    But Kennedy was different.

After his body dispersed, a tiny sphere of light remained behind.

The Human Arbiter grasped it and stored it away.

“The task is not yet complete.”

The Human Arbiter turned once more toward the direction of the armory.

    ……

“How… how did it turn into this…?”

Lian Lian’s father had struggled desperately to bring his daughter all the way to the armory,

only to arrive at a scene resembling the apocalypse itself.

    Despair filled his face.

“We made it to the armory!”

The innocent Lian Lian smiled brightly.

“Daddy, you said that if we reached here, we’d be saved… right?”

    “……”

Lian Lian’s father lowered his head in silence.

He could not answer his daughter’s question.

    “Daddy, someone’s coming over there!”

Lian Lian tugged on her father’s hand and asked curiously.

“It looks like a golden armored swordsman… Is he here to protect us?”
