Volume 6 Chapter 46
by Golden DragonVolume 6 + Chapter 46: Handwritten Letter
Xia Yi declared that she would become the Acting Dragon King.
Upon hearing this announcement, the members of the Royal Maid Corps were surprised, but since they were all aware of the inside story, they could still understand it in their hearts.
Karami’s eyes widened.
Olga was even more stunned, a thousand thoughts surging through his mind. As if the universe had exploded, the torrent of information nearly made his head explode.
After a long pause, he finally managed to speak.
“Princess, you, you are… serious? With all due respect, your declaration is somewhat, “
“Captain Olga, do you truly not understand anything?” Karami said.
“Understand what?”
“Think about it for a moment. Why is it that Her Majesty the Queen cannot return to the Dragon Palace and must have the Princess act as the Acting Dragon King? Why are we the only ones being told such important matters? Why has Her Majesty not appeared at all in recent days?”
Karami’s barrage of questions stumped Olga.
“For what reason? Mr. Karami, I am merely a man of arms. I cannot grasp the deeper implications.” Olga looked utterly bewildered.
“Her Majesty the Queen has met with misfortune, and it happened so suddenly that she could only hastily entrust matters to the Princess. As for why we were summoned without announcing it to anyone else, it is precisely because Her Majesty can no longer appear in person.” Karami said.
“Now that you mention it, Mr. Karami, I indeed haven’t seen Her Majesty at all lately…” Olga realized.
“Karami’s speculation is correct. What I am about to say concerns the future of the Dragon Kingdom. You must listen carefully.”
Xia Yi paused.
“A few days ago, at my birthday banquet, Xia Lulu suddenly felt unwell, collapsed, and lost consciousness. I summoned the royal physician to examine her, and we reached a conclusion that was impossible to accept…”
“Xia Lulu has only one week left to live. This is not a conventional illness, her body has reached its limit and is on the verge of collapse.”
“Princess, may I ask a presumptuous question? Can the royal physician not treat her?” Karami inquired.
“No. Not only the royal physician, I sought out the highest-level healers in the kingdom, and all of them were helpless, stating that it was beyond their capabilities,” Xia Yi explained. “This is almost the most desperate situation imaginable.”
“How could this be…”
Olga could not accept it for a moment.
“Her Majesty had been fine all along. Just a while ago, she even suppressed Raymond’s rebellion.”
“Captain Olga, do not forget how many people covet Her Majesty’s position. Once she shows any sign of weakness, even more ‘Raymonds’ will appear. That is precisely why she has been forcing herself to hold on.” Lucia reminded him.
Because of her unique status as someone who had always been by Xia Lulu’s side, Lucia’s words carried particular weight.
Moreover, Olga had witnessed firsthand, from his promotion as a trainee guard all the way to captain of the Dragon Palace guard, how many challenges the Silver Dragon Queen had faced in securing her throne.
“There was no one who could help Xia Lulu. At the most desperate moment, I thought of one person, Xia Lulu’s friend, a Dragon King-level powerhouse, Dorothea of the Golden Dragon clan.” Xia Yi said.
“The Dragon race has Golden Dragons?” Karami was quite surprised.
“Dorothea lives in seclusion in the Purple Iris Valley. She is Xia Lulu’s friend and a very special existence, knowledgeable, powerful, and resourceful. I brought Xia Lulu along with the Royal Maid Corps members present here to seek a glimmer of hope.”
At this point in Xia Yi’s account, the Royal Maid Corps members all looked very concerned.
Because what happened next was something that only Xia Yi had experienced, not even they knew the details.
“There were some twists and turns, but Dorothea provided help after all. She told me that no one in this world could save Xia Lulu, because Xia Lulu’s level of attainment is very high. Only someone with an even higher level, far higher, could intervene, which is to say… the level of a True God.”
“Do True Gods truly exist?” Olga could not help asking. “If not, then isn’t Her Majesty beyond saving?”
“My doubts at the time were the same as yours,” Xia Yi replied. “Dorothea answered that no one knows where the True Gods dwell, but they have left behind divine traces in this world, for example, the World Tree.”
“The divine tree of legend that records history?” Karami had heard of it.
“The World Tree can produce Water of Life, which contains immense vitality and can accomplish miraculous things. With the Water of Life, perhaps Xia Lulu can be saved.”
Xia Yi explained to everyone.
“Dorothea provided crucial assistance. She temporarily used magic to freeze Xia Lulu, greatly delaying her death… Now, the country where the World Tree exists is the Elf Kingdom. Therefore, we must obtain the Water of Life through the Elf Kingdom.”
With the explanation given to this extent, everyone understood.
To delay death, Xia Lulu, sealed in ice, could not govern the Dragon Kingdom.
Thus, this heavy responsibility naturally fell upon Xia Yi.
As the heiress of the Dragon Royal Family, she possessed the sole qualification.
“Princess, based on the situation described above, both by bloodline and by capability, you should indeed act as the Acting Dragon King. A kingdom cannot go a day without a ruler.”
Karami expressed his high approval.
“Internationally, there has indeed been speculation that the World Tree exists within the Elf Kingdom. The elves have never come forward to explain this. Now it seems highly likely to be true. If we want to save Her Majesty the Queen, we must negotiate with the Elves.”
“However, the Elf King and Her Majesty the Queen have no actual friendship. The Elves and the Dragon race have never even established diplomatic relations.”
Olga raised a question in his mind.
“If the Water of Life truly exists, it would certainly be a supreme treasure of the Elf Kingdom. What must we do to make the Elves hand it over to us?”
This was indeed a difficult problem.
After all, the Elves and Dragons had no ties whatsoever. It was only due to the Elves’ peaceful and friendly nature that they tended to show courtesy to everyone.
“I am acquainted with Eve, the Elf Kingdom’s princess. I can use that connection to negotiate with the Elven royal family,” Xia Yi replied. “I believe Eve will certainly not refuse communication, whether through personal favor or through a trade, as long as we can talk, there is an opportunity.”
“Excellent! We shall place our hopes in you, Princess!” Olga entrusted his hopes to Xia Yi.
“I will write a handwritten letter and send someone to the Elf Kingdom to deliver it to Princess Eve. During this time, we will maintain the stability of the Dragon Palace as usual.”
Xia Yi announced to everyone.
“Once we receive Eve’s reply, everything will become clear.”
