Volume 6 + Chapter 118: Let Us Fight Together

    “Holy Sword…”

Xia Yi felt her body sinking endlessly into darkness. Her vision had already blurred, and she could no longer clearly see what lay before her.

All she could sense was the Human Envoy picking up the Holy Sword right in front of her.

Because the Human King had once been a Holy Sword wielder himself, the Human Envoy understood the Holy Sword extremely well. He even knew how to forcibly sever the contract between the sword and its wielder.

    “N-No…”

Xia Yi’s spirit was on the verge of collapse. Her body had nearly lost all sensation as she lay sprawled on the ground, unable to stand.

Yet she still crawled forward, refusing to give up on the Holy Sword.

She could not accept the companion who had fought beside her for so many years being taken away by someone else.

“The moment you abandoned your human identity, you also abandoned your qualifications to become a Holy Sword wielder.”

The Human Envoy coldly watched Xia Yi crawl across the ground.

“You betrayed your own race, carried away humanity’s most important inheritance, and joined the dragons’ camp… Your actions are nothing short of desecrating the title of Holy Sword wielder.”

He had already realized that Xia Yi had once been a human Holy Sword wielder, though for some unknown reason she had become a dragon.

It was precisely because of that nearly impossible coincidence that a dragon had become capable of wielding the Holy Sword.

“Every generation of Holy Sword wielders fought to protect humanity, even sacrificing their own lives if necessary. A coward like you, who betrayed your race and defected to the dragons, could never understand the noble spirit of a Holy Sword wielder, nor are you worthy of using the Holy Sword.”

The Human Envoy delivered his judgment upon Xia Yi.

“You can still use the Holy Sword only because of sheer luck and circumstance.”

    “…”

Xia Yi could barely hear what the Human Envoy was saying anymore.

Her body trembled violently. Every ragged breath she took brought soul-rending agony.

Even so, she crawled forward another step, simply to get a little closer to the Holy Sword.

“You truly are determined to die. In that case, I’ll grant your wish.”

A fierce aura erupted from the Human Envoy’s body, lifting the weakened Xia Yi off the ground.

Dark golden energy gathered upon the gauntlet of the Human King Armor.

He stepped forward and slammed a punch into the tiny body of the silver dragon girl.

    “Soul-Shattering Strike.”

Xia Yi was sent flying, crashing heavily onto the ground. Blood spilled from the corner of her lips, her pupils lost focus, and she fell completely silent.

The Human Envoy’s strike had not merely targeted the body. It also carried a devastating impact upon the soul itself.

This was a unique technique created by the Human King during the height of his power, and now the Human Envoy had used it against Xia Yi.

Xia Yi’s mental state had already become extremely fragile because of the forced severing of the contract. After suffering this blow, her weakened soul should have inevitably perished.

    “Armor, begin scanning.”

The Human Envoy activated one of the Human King Armor’s functions, conducting a massive scan over the entire area.

Molent City had already been destroyed by him. Whether human or disaster beast, all had perished beneath Heavenfall. There were no remaining targets capable of movement.

He had fulfilled the Envoy’s duty and completed the purge.

“The cleansing is nearly complete. It is time to leave Molent City and report back to the Queen.”

The Human Envoy deactivated the Human King Armor’s scanning function. Turning around, he prepared to depart for the next region.

However, after walking barely a dozen meters, he suddenly sensed a strange feeling of incongruity and halted his steps.

    “Hm?”

The Human Envoy turned around and frowned.

The silver dragon girl, who should have been lying motionless on the ground, had vanished.

    That made no sense.

After enduring an attack capable of nearly destroying the soul itself, she should have dispersed spiritually and become nothing more than a corpse.

    “Where exactly are you looking?”

A voice suddenly sounded beside the Human Envoy. He turned his head and shockingly saw “Xia Yi” appear next to him, spinning through the air as she lashed out with a kick toward his body.

    Bang!

The attack came so unexpectedly that even the Human Envoy failed to react in time. The Human King Armor absorbed the heavy strike, and the enormous force sent him flying far away.

“How… are you standing again?” the Human Envoy asked in bewilderment.

What he did not know was that the one standing before him was no longer Xia Yi, but Heart Demon Xia Yi.

At the moment Xia Yi’s soul had become weakest, Heart Demon Xia Yi had voluntarily taken over the body and begun acting in her place.

    “Tch.”

Heart Demon Xia Yi licked the blood from her lips and spat a mouthful of bloody foam onto the ground.

She made no effort to hide her killing intent toward the Human Envoy.

“Although I don’t know what method you used to recover yourself… judging from your attitude, don’t tell me you still intend to continue fighting me?”

The Human Envoy raised his hand. Upon the back of it appeared the Holy Sword crest, as though he were deliberately displaying it before Heart Demon Xia Yi.

    “You should give up already.”

    “Give up?”

“That’s right. The Holy Sword has already abandoned you. You have permanently lost your qualifications to wield it.”

    “Ridiculous.”

Heart Demon Xia Yi responded with overwhelming disdain.

“You merely relied on someone else’s memories and used despicable tricks to bully Xia Yi. Do you really think you’re some extraordinary figure?”

    “What did you say?”

“Humanity, protection, nobility, everything you preach sounds laughable to the extreme.”

    “Impudent nonsense!”

“I couldn’t care less about your grand speeches. Right now, there’s only one thing I want to do, ”

Heart Demon Xia Yi extended her hand, her gaze fixed upon the golden Holy Sword.

“Holy Sword, you can hear my voice too, can’t you?”

“It’s useless. Your contract with the Holy Sword has already been severed. The Holy Sword will never respond to you again,” the Human Envoy declared while gripping the blade. “It is my weapon now.”

Heart Demon Xia Yi completely ignored his words and continued speaking in her own way.

“Holy Sword, come back. This is not an order. You should already know for yourself who you ought to choose.”

“I already told you, the Holy Sword will never respond to your words, ”

The Human Envoy had intended to mock Heart Demon Xia Yi.

However, he suddenly noticed the Holy Sword crest on the back of his hand beginning to disintegrate.

Holy Sword Gram had voluntarily severed its connection with the Human Envoy.

At the same time, the Holy Sword crest reappeared upon the silver dragon girl’s hand. After having been forcibly severed, the sword once again chose to forge a contract with her as its wielder.

    “That’s impossible…”

The Human Envoy simply could not comprehend what he was witnessing.

Why would the Holy Sword, which stood upon humanity’s side, still choose Xia Yi, a being who had abandoned humanity?

    “Holy Sword Summon!”

Heart Demon Xia Yi raised her hand and summoned the Holy Sword. The blade resonated with her call and returned once more to the hands of its wielder.

“Gram, fight alongside me… and protect Xia Yi.”
