Volume 6 + Chapter 99: The One Called Justice!

“You’re not the Human Inspector at all! Who exactly are you?!”

Kennedy furiously questioned the golden-armored swordsman before him.

“What are you talking about, Kennedy? Casting doubt on my identity like that is a rather dangerous thing to say.”

Xia Yi had no idea where she had slipped up, so she continued to play along.

“You say I’m not the Human Inspector, where’s your proof?”

“The proof is in what you just said! The Queen doesn’t care about commoners at all! Whenever instability appears in any region, the Queen dispatches the Three Great Inspectors to annihilate the entire area, no matter how many lives are there!”

Kennedy had witnessed the Human Inspector head toward the neighboring city with his own eyes. One night later, the city had been erased. No survivors remained.

If the Queen truly held compassion for ordinary people, would she have left not a single soul alive?

    Obviously not.

    “…Oh dear.”

At this point, Xia Yi had no way to explain herself anymore.

Still, she had never expected to fool Kennedy for very long in the first place. After all, she knew practically nothing. With so little information, it was only a matter of time before the other party noticed something strange.

“Since you’ve figured it out, then I won’t keep acting.”

“Who exactly are you, to dare impersonate an Inspector?! Your audacity knows no bounds!”

“I am the hope that walks through the night, the terror lurking in the hearts of criminals, the ally who stands on the side of justice, Man of Justice!”

Xia Yi loudly declared her title to Kennedy.

Just like the protagonist of a superhero comic, she proudly announced her name.

Even though the sheer level of Chuuni energy here was practically on par with Fox Radish, she had already committed to the whole Man of Justice persona, so she might as well go all in.

    “So you’re Man of Justice!!”

“That’s right. I destroyed the Old Times Wine Cafe, and I was the one who dealt with Bi Yangde and Lao Huo.”

    Xia Yi openly admitted everything.

“You damned Man of Justice, to think you could infiltrate this place…!”

Now that he knew this was merely an impostor rather than the Human Inspector, Kennedy naturally lost all fear. He snatched a one-handed sword from the wall and slashed at Xia Yi.

The blade struck the Human King Armor, and the force behind the attack exceeded Xia Yi’s expectations, knocking her back several steps.

She had assumed Kennedy was nothing more than a loudmouthed clown. Apparently, he possessed some real skill after all.

“Now that you know the greatest secret of Molent City, I will never allow you to continue living in this world!”

Kennedy stepped forward, raised his sword, and slammed the hilt against the desk, triggering a hidden switch.

An alarm rang throughout the entire tower.

    It was an intruder alert.

The guards who heard the alarm immediately sprang into action, weapons in hand as they rushed toward Kennedy’s room.

    “You’re finished, Man of Justice.”

Although Kennedy was furious, he had already tested Man of Justice’s abilities and realized the opponent had genuine strength. Rather than charging recklessly into battle, he wisely withdrew from the room to wait for reinforcements, choosing the safest strategy,

    Overwhelming numbers.

Only moments later, a massive wave of guards flooded into the room, completely sealing off every exit.

    “Lord Citymaster, what is this…?”

Charlie, who had rushed over after hearing the commotion, saw the imposing armored swordsman standing in the room and revealed a shocked expression.

“This is Man of Justice. He came here to assassinate me!!”

    Kennedy waved his hand sharply.

“All of you, open fire at once! Ignore everything else, shoot the Man of Justice dead!”

    “As you command, Lord Citymaster!”

The guards raised their weapons, aimed at Xia Yi, and unleashed a barrage of gunfire, intending to turn her into a sieve.

    Clang clang clang clang clang!

The sound of metal collisions rang out continuously as sparks exploded through the air.

The overhead lights were shattered by stray bullets, and the massive floor-to-ceiling window was blasted apart as fragments rained down from the tower.

Xia Yi did not move. Just as she had expected, even the firearms of the Mythic Era could not penetrate the Human King Armor.

She began considering her next move. Was she really going to stand here and let them keep scratching at her armor?

The Human King Armor’s transformation state was not unlimited. It consumed the armor’s own energy reserves, and once depleted, it required a cooldown period to recover.

Although attacks of this level felt little more than a massage, enough accumulated damage would still drain the armor’s energy, not to mention the constant energy consumption required just to maintain the transformation itself.

If the energy ran out, the transformation would be canceled, exposing Xia Yi’s true form, which would become extremely troublesome.

Now that she had obtained the information she wanted, there was little point in staying here any longer.

    It was time to leave.

The golden helmet slowly turned as Xia Yi searched for an escape route.

The upper half of this tower floated in the sky. To reach it, one had to use the floating disc linked to the magic formation on the ground below.

To return to the ground, she would most likely need to use the same method.

But judging from the current situation, that meant fighting her way through the guards, reaching the platform, and descending while under pursuit…

    Too troublesome.

She suddenly thought of a much faster method.

Facing Kennedy, the golden-armored swordsman slowly backed away step by step until reaching the edge.

The enormous glass window had already been shattered by bullets.

The night wind blew in from behind Xia Yi.

Standing at the edge, the open sky stretched behind her.

“Lord Citymaster, that flashy golden armor seems impossible to shoot through!” Charlie warned.

“Forget that, keep firing! That armor can’t possibly be invincible. As long as it keeps taking hits, it’ll eventually break apart,” Kennedy judged calmly. “The room is sealed off, and we’re this high in the air. He has nowhere left to escape!”

“Nowhere to escape? You really underestimate me.”

    Xia Yi laughed.

With the voice modulation effect of the Human King Armor, her voice sounded incomparably confident, almost exactly like the protagonist of Legend of the Sword Saint.

The armored swordsman spread his arms wide and leaned backward.

Before everyone’s disbelieving eyes, he fell into the open sky.

“Has he gone insane?! If he falls from here, he’ll be smashed into paste!!” Charlie shouted.

    “Cease fire!!”

Kennedy hurriedly issued the order and rushed toward the edge, looking downward.

What entered his sight was an even more shocking scene.

The golden-armored swordsman held an endlessly generating chain of ice in his hand. The other end of the frozen chain was anchored somewhere along the tower exterior, allowing the Man of Justice to slide safely toward the ground.

You could do something like that?!

At this rate, Man of Justice really would land safely and escape.

“No. We absolutely must capture that bastard.”

Kennedy was beginning to panic. He turned around and immediately issued new orders.

“Notify every member of Molent City’s Public Security Patrol! Mobilize everyone at once and issue the highest-level wanted order! No matter the cost, the Man of Justice must be captured!!”
