Volume 6 + Chapter 66: Arrival At The Border

    Daleks, the Storm King.

That was a name even more fearsome than dragons.

The inhabitants of this land mostly knew dragons from legends and hearsay, believing them to be extremely cruel and ferocious. But not many had actually witnessed dragons ravaging the land with their own eyes.

The Storm King, however, was different. The undead legion he led was like a storm of death. Wherever it passed, life was extinguished and the land was devastated, a true catastrophe.

Many nations had already been destroyed by Daleks. The people who died were turned into undead and absorbed into his legion.

Thus, the mere mention of the Storm King’s name made everyone present turn pale with fear.

“Little brother, are you sure? This isn’t a joke, is it?!” Bear One asked nervously.

“It’s true, big brother. In less than half a day, the Storm King will arrive here. Right now, everyone in Sanger Town is fleeing for their lives!”

    Bear Two explained to everyone.

“The cities ahead have all been destroyed by the Storm King. No one dares to stay here any longer!”

“What is he coming here for? Is the Storm King planning to enter the Elven Kingdom??” Bear One was baffled.

“Mercenary group, why are you still waiting here? Do you want to become undead as well?”

The dwarf merchant urged from his carriage, also terrified.

    “Hurry up and depart!”

“Yes, let’s enter the Elven Kingdom now and avoid the Storm King!”

Bear One ordered his mercenary group to get moving, packing up their belongings and loading the goods onto the carts as quickly as possible.

“Bear One, why are you so nervous?” Atiya laughed. “Isn’t your mercenary group called ‘Bear Dominates the World’? This is a great opportunity, why not start by trying to defeat Daleks?”

Bear One’s cheek twitched, and he stammered, “Ar-are you joking? That’s the Storm King, an undead higher race! We know our own limits!”

“Oh my, Bear One has turned into a timid little bear. With half a day still left, you’re already this tense.”

“Get on the carriage quickly. Enough of this nonsense!”

    Bear One felt humiliated.

In any case, he dared not pick a fight with Atiya again. She could knock him out with one punch. If they actually came to blows, especially in front of his mercenary group, he would lose even more face.

“Is Daleks trying to enter the Elven Kingdom?”

Xia Yi pondered as she climbed into the carriage.

Truth be told, she could not quite grasp the Storm King’s logic.

If one said he was sane…

Daleks led his undead legion across the land, destroying one nation after another, utterly impossible to communicate with.

If one said he was mad…

Yet, when fighting against the Progenitor of the Vampire Race, he had exerted great effort, taken enormous risks, and helped Xia Yi rescue Xia Lulu without asking for anything in return.

In short, he was a very strange fellow.

After Xia Yi boarded the carriage, the mercenary group set off, leaving Sanger Town. With the dwarf merchant’s goods loaded, they followed Balan’s directions and advanced toward the Elven Kingdom.

“You two, judging by your tone, you don’t seem very afraid of the Storm King,” Balan asked Xia Yi and Atiya curiously.

“Has the Storm King… ever come to the Elven Kingdom before?” Xia Yi asked.

“Yes, he came in the past and inflicted considerable damage on the Elven Kingdom. Many of our compatriots were turned into undead back then. At that time, the elven warriors, led by the Elf King, fought against the Storm King.”

Balan played a mournful little tune.

“To achieve victory, the elves paid a heavy price…”

“Actually, not long ago, the Storm King also visited the Dragon Kingdom,” Xia Yi said.

“Oh?” Balan asked curiously. “At the time, the whole land was watching that event closely. The Storm King went to the Dragon Kingdom. What was the result of the clash between his calamitous legion and the strongest higher race?”

    “Well…”

Xia Yi recounted to Balan what had happened back then.

Of course, she used an observer’s perspective and did not reveal her identity.

Balan listened with relish. When he heard that the Storm King had chosen to withdraw voluntarily after confronting the Silver Dragon Queen, he could not help but pluck his harp.

“So the Storm King went to the Dragon Kingdom to obtain the bones of the previous Dragon King? So that was the inside story? How fascinating! My inspiration is surging. I must compose a new piece for the world to sing!”

“Anyway, that’s roughly how it went. In the end, the Storm King gave up the fight and left the Dragon Kingdom.”

“The Storm King, who fears nothing, actually backed down on his own. The dragons are truly powerful indeed…”

Balan pondered for a moment, then suddenly recalled something.

“Milady Xia Yi, I have heard that besides the Storm King, other outsiders once went to the Dragon Kingdom to challenge the mighty Silver Dragon Queen, is that right?”

“Huh? Is… is there such a thing?”

“Yes! That was the brave Sword Saint from the human world…”

    “Ugh!!”

Xia Yi shuddered all over, as if an arrow had inexplicably struck her in the back.

This was like opening a can of worms!

Panicking, she promptly deployed her topic-change technique.

“Balan, would you like to know the legends passed down among the dragons?”

“Oh, oh! Please do tell me, I am very interested!” Balan promptly forgot all about the human Sword Saint.

    “A long, long time ago…”

Xia Yi began telling Balan the legendary stories of the dragons.

    “This is absolutely wonderful!!”

After listening to Xia Yi’s tale, Balan exclaimed with delight.

He pulled out a small notebook and a pen.

“Milady Xia Yi, please give me some time to digest and organize this. These are very precious stories…”

Xia Yi had talked until her throat was dry.

However, the content she had told Balan was basically the legends known to every dragon. There was no harm in sharing them with outsiders.

“Milady, would you like some water?” Atiya handed over a thermos.

    “Yes, thank you, Atiya.”

Xia Yi took the thermos, unscrewed the cap, poured some water, and drank.

“Have we already entered the Elven Kingdom?”

“We are already at the border. You can take a look outside,” Atiya replied.

Xia Yi rose, went to the front of the carriage, leaned out, and looked outside.

What met her eyes was an expansive forest. Ahead of the convoy lay an endless sea of trees, surrounded on all sides by woodland. Amidst the ocean-like green, it was difficult to distinguish directions.

However, thanks to Balan’s guidance, the convoy maintained a steady pace forward.

So far, everything seemed perfectly normal.

A thought arose in Xia Yi’s mind.

Could it be that the messengers’ encounters had simply been accidents?

She returned to her seat inside the carriage.

“With the bard’s guidance, we have truly entered the border of the Elven Kingdom without trouble,” Bear One laughed. “It seems the outside rumors are all false, no danger at all! There’s no way anything will go wrong this time! The Bear Dominates the World mercenary group has never failed, and this time we will complete the mission successfully as well, maintaining our hundred percent success rate!”
