Volume 6 + Chapter 157: The Fulfilled Prophecy

Eve’s hand rested upon the World Tree, and within her eyes churned a murky darkness.

A memory surfaced in her mind.

In the history of the elven race, the Elven Grand Sage had once left behind a prophecy:

“In the future, a terrible calamity shall occur, a black-haired elf will bring about the complete destruction of this world.”

Because the Elven Grand Sage had aided the elven king of that era in accomplishing the great feat of restoring the kingdom, his extraordinary contributions had earned him the absolute trust and profound reverence of all.

The elves chose to believe wholeheartedly in the Grand Sage’s prophecy. To forestall the events foretold, any black-haired elf was deemed a peril and mercilessly eliminated, a practice that continued to this day.

Despite all their vigilance, however, the elves could not prevent the birth of black-haired elves, and the prophecy was ultimately fulfilled.

Now, she stood beneath the World Tree, carrying out the very act of world destruction.

A miasma of calamity flowed from Eve’s palm and spread into the World Tree.

Though the colossal tree showed little outward abnormality, its interior was gradually being inverted, drawing ever closer to becoming a complete Anti-World Tree.

“The preliminary arrangements are complete, an Anti-World Tree has now been born in every nation,” Eve murmured to herself. “And now, this World Tree has become as grand as the divine tree recorded in the myths of the Mythological Era. Its roots extend to every corner of this land, and through them, it can influence every part of this world.”

Within the Elven Kingdom stood a World Tree, a secret known only to the elven royal family, and one Eve had always been aware of.

Yet even as princess of the elven royal family, she had never been permitted to approach the domain where the World Tree resided. Only the Elven King himself had the right to stand before it.

After personally slaying Kennedy and seizing full control of the Elven Kingdom, she had finally come face to face with the World Tree.

The World Tree possessed by the elves was indeed a spectacular sight, likely the largest surviving World Tree in the world today.

However, the elves’ World Tree was still in its growth phase. Its roots could only reach the surrounding few nations, incapable of covering the entire continent.

Thus, Eve had resorted to a certain special power, the Legendary Beast.

What would have required hundreds of thousands of years of growth for the World Tree to become her ideal instrument, she had accomplished in a remarkably short time, bringing the elves’ World Tree to the scale of the Mythological Era.

The emergence of World Trees in other regions during this period, and their rapid maturation overnight, had likewise been made possible only through her use of the Legendary Beast.

    “Hmm?”

Eve sensed someone approaching the vicinity of the World Tree and turned around.

Within her field of vision appeared a silver-haired dragon girl.

“Your Majesty, it is a pleasure to see you once again.”

The Dragon Envoy offered her respects before Eve.

The reason was simple: Eve was the creator of the three Envoys.

All three Envoys had been forged by Eve using the information data recorded within the World Tree, the vitality of Life Water, and the blessings of the Legendary Beast, powerful beings brought into existence.

“You are the Dragon Envoy?” Eve asked.

“Yes. I wished to see you, so I came beneath the World Tree,” the Dragon Envoy replied.

This was in fact, only their second meeting.

After creating the three Envoys, Eve had largely left them to their own devices, merely ordering these powerful beings to enter the aberrant Elven Kingdom and carry out a unified mission,

To ensure the normal progression of the experiments within the aberrant Elven Kingdom and to purge any erroneous programs.

“Dragon Envoy, what brings you to see me?”

“I have a report to make, on the results of my work during this period,” the Dragon Envoy paused. “I, the Human Envoy, and the Death Envoy have consulted among ourselves and divided our territories. Within our respective domains, we carry out your commands, monitor the experiments in each region, and eliminate all erroneous experiments.”

“Isn’t that going quite well?” Eve replied. “Indeed, I have recently received many excellent data reports from the World Tree. If the experiments continue in this manner, we will eventually achieve the desired outcome, extending the experiment here… to cover the entire world.”

“…However, some time ago, an unfortunate accident occurred.”

    “An accident?”

“The Human Envoy is dead. While carrying out a purge mission in his territory, Molent City, where he intended to eliminate all infected programs and reclaim the elven souls, he encountered an external enemy. He engaged in a fierce battle, but in the end, he was defeated.”

“An external enemy defeated the Human Envoy?”

“Correct. This intruder came from the outside world, having breached the barrier that isolates this realm and entered the aberrant Elven Kingdom.”

“…It was Xia Yi, wasn’t it?” Eve spoke a name that surprised the Dragon Envoy.

    “You already know?”

“I merely sensed, faintly, that Xia Yi had crossed the barrier and entered the aberrant Elven Kingdom.”

A faint smile appeared on Eve’s usually impassive face, even her tone changed at the mention of Xia Yi.

“Xia Yi is different from others, she is a very special existence…”

“Yes, it is indeed her, the Silver Dragon Princess of the Dragon Kingdom, Xia Yi Christie.”

    “Where is she now?”

“In the Maginot Fortress, in the southern region of the World Tree. She has joined the Maginot military,” the Dragon Envoy explained. “According to a certain succubus who wishes to remain anonymous, Xia Yi intends to use the Maginot military to reach the World Tree.”

“A succubus who wishes to remain anonymous?”

Eve already had an idea who that might be, though she did not particularly care about Ella’s affairs.

In the world as it stood, there was only one person who truly mattered to her.

“I see. So… Xia Yi wants to see me, does she? Then I shall go and meet her.”

With that, the black-haired elf began to walk beyond the World Tree’s domain, clearly heading toward the Maginot Fortress.

The Dragon Envoy offered no comment. She simply stood in place, watching Eve depart.

To be honest, she did not understand why Eve wished to destroy the world.

As one of the three Envoys, it was not her place to question.

Yet this time, without the Queen’s command, the Dragon Envoy intended to take some “unnecessary” action.

Only after she could no longer sense Eve’s presence did she approach the World Tree and gaze up at its cloud-like canopy of leaves.

“Before Her Majesty returns, I must hurry and see if I can find that leaf…”
