Volume 6 Chapter 3
by Need_More_SleepVolume 6 + Chapter 3: False Stability
“The Dragon King’s pressure.”
A faint light flickered in Xia Lulu’s silver eyes as she released the overwhelming aura of a Dragon King.
Raymond felt as though a mountain had crashed down upon his back, forcing him to the ground.
Such absolute suppression from the pinnacle of their race was unbearable, before the Dragon King’s pressure, ordinary dragons would lose their will to fight and collapse helplessly.
“Kneel,” Xia Lulu said.
Her calm voice echoed like a tolling bell within Raymond’s mind.
“You damned… usurper!”
Raymond’s eyes widened as he roared hysterically, even blood tears streaming down his face.
Revenge was the sole reason he continued to live, without it, death would be more merciful.
With a powerful strike, the dragon slammed the ground, shattering the snow and sending it swirling skyward.
Against the crushing force, he forced himself into the air.
“Die, Xia Lulu!!”
Raising his massive claw, lightning surged within it as he struck toward her.
“Snowman’s Arm.”
Xia Lulu waved her hand.
Within this domain, she was the sovereign of wind and snow.
A colossal arm of ice and snow rose from the ground, gripping Raymond’s forelimb and halting his attack.
“Stormsteel Wings!”
Refusing to yield, Raymond raised his steel-like wings, lightning coursing through them and gathering immense power.
“Ice Chains.”
Xia Lulu conjured frozen chains that bound his wings, disrupting his momentum.
Even so, Raymond did not stop. Opening his bloodied maw, he unleashed a blast of dragon breath at point-blank range.
At such a distance, evasion was impossible.
The destructive blast engulfed Xia Lulu.
The temperature surged, snow melted under the force, carving a jagged scar across the ground as steam filled the air.
“Did… did she die?!”
Panting heavily, Raymond strained to see through the dissipating mist.
The attack had consumed much of his strength.
As the white haze cleared, a small figure emerged, Xia Lulu.
“You survived that?!” Raymond exclaimed in shock.
“Impressive, Raymond. To wound me within my own domain, you stand far above the other rebels,” Xia Lulu said.
At the moment of impact, she had raised an ice shield to defend herself.
Within the domain, her ice magic was both faster and stronger. Yet even so, Raymond’s attack had shattered her defense and pierced her scales.
Compared to others who could not even harm her, he was indeed formidable.
However…
Even his full-force attack had only inflicted minor damage.
It was merely a slight reduction, nothing more.
Xia Lulu’s overwhelming power filled Raymond with despair.
“A threat like you must be eliminated early,” she said coldly.
Raising her hand as if grasping him, countless ice swords materialized in all directions, locking onto him from every angle.
There was no escape.
“Die.”
She clenched her hand.
A storm of ice swords fired simultaneously, each carrying unstable magic that detonated upon impact.
“Do you think this can kill me?!”
Raymond unleashed his magic like a torrent, lightning bursting outward in arcs to counter the barrage.
For a full minute, thunder and ice clashed without pause, releasing terrifying waves of energy.
“RAAAHHHH!!”
With a furious roar, his lightning obliterated the incoming blades.
“Xia Lulu, your frozen domain is nothing but a joke!”
Though battered and bleeding, his scales shattered.
He was still alive.
“It’s over,” Xia Lulu said.
“Over? What do you mean, ”
Raymond sensed something falling.
Looking up, he saw a massive shadow descending, a colossal pillar of ice.
He tried to escape, but his limbs were bound, his strength spent.
Boom!!
The pillar crashed down like a heavenly spear, piercing his body and pinning him to the earth as his blood sprayed across the snow.
“Ugh…!”
Blood poured from his mouth. His vision dimmed, his body growing cold, death was inevitable.
“You could have lived in wealth and comfort as a governor. I would not have pursued your past loyalty to Frey,” Xia Lulu said. “Yet you chose rebellion. How tragic.”
“Tragic? Hahaha… HAHAHAHAHA!!!”
Even on the brink of death, Raymond laughed madly.
“The tragic one is you! Xia Lulu, do you truly think the Dragon Clan serves you willingly? No! They only fear your strength. Your rule is nothing but false stability!”
“Still talking at death’s door?” Xia Lulu frowned.
“The one who should fear is you! You may be strong, but the moment you show weakness, others will rise, just as I have! They will return your terror upon you and destroy the royal court! The Dragon Clan reveres heroes like Frey, not a usurper like you!”
“You’d better remain strong forever… because the moment you falter…”
“Silence!!”
With a sharp gesture, an ice blade pierced his skull, ending his voice forever.
Only the howling wind remained within the frozen domain.
“…”
Xia Lulu lowered her head, staring at her slightly trembling hand in silence.
