Volume 6 Chapter 153
by Golden DragonVolume 6 + Chapter 153: Full of Power!
“Ugh… ah…!”
Xia Yi felt with absolute clarity that she had become linked to the underground city’s magical circuits.
A horrifying quantity of magical energy, like a floodwaters breaching a dam, poured into her body, nearly bursting her apart from the inside.
To absorb such an immense influx of magic in such a short time, even one bearing the bloodline of the Silver Dragon King, would find it difficult to endure.
Under the relentless torrent of overwhelming magical force, she could barely perceive anything from the outside world, she could hear nothing, see nothing.
In her world, there was only the surging tide of magic.
Even her sense of self gradually grew faint.
She had to find a way to expend this excess magic, or else she would surely burst like an overinflated balloon.
Shh-shh-shh,
The core processor radiated a brilliant blue light that flooded every corner of the space. The surging magical energy writhed like agitated white serpents within the circuits, even showing signs of spilling beyond their confines.
This was a portent out of control, an impending runaway reaction.
“Hurry! Force the core processor to shut down!!” the gold-rimmed glasses technician shouted to his colleagues.
Everyone sprang into action. Some rushed to control panels in other locations, attempting to halt the core processor’s operation.
Yet no matter what they did, nothing worked.
“No good, the core processor cannot be forcibly stopped!!”
“What is happening? Why are the control panels unresponsive?”
“Only Xia Yi, who is linked to the magical circuits, can stop the core processor, we have been excluded from control!”
The technicians reported the situation as chaos engulfed the scene.
The gold-rimmed glasses technician fixed his gaze on the core processor, but amid the blinding radiance, he could no longer see Xia Yi.
“Lord Yuren, the core processor has gone out of control!!”
“…”
Yuren stared at the core processor, his expression grave, making no move to retreat.
“Lord Yuren, run! It’s extremely dangerous here!” the gold-rimmed glasses technician urged.
“Run? Useless,” Yuren shook his head. “If the core processor loses control, the underground city will be destroyed, and the entire Maginot Fortress will be blown sky-high. Even if we flee, where could we possibly go?”
The gold-rimmed glasses technician was left speechless.
What Yuren said was the truth, once the magical energy erupted uncontrollably, the Maginot Fortress above would be caught in the blast. There was no time to escape.
The blue light grew ever more dazzling. The magical output was approaching a critical threshold for explosion. The air trembled, and earthquakes shook the underground city.
Just when everyone believed the core processor would turn into an ultimate bomb and incinerate them all, something occurred that no one noticed.
Upon the core processor, veiled by radiance, a tiny black spot appeared, and began devouring all the magical energy within.
One moment, the core processor had been on the verge of collapse from excess runaway magic. Next, the entire world seemed to fall silent. The turbulent magical currents were completely drained away, and the underground city’s trembling ceased.
The underground city plunged into darkness as all lights vanished.
This astonishing reversal caught everyone completely off guard.
“What is happening?” the gold-rimmed glasses technician cried out in disbelief. “Quick, check the status of the magical circuits!”
“The control panels are unresponsive! The core processor appears to have stopped, the magical energy in the circuits has vanished, even the trace amounts for lighting are gone! The entire underground city has shut down!”
“The energy conduits cannot transmit magical power. The reserves stored in the underground city have been completely depleted, everything is now at zero!”
“The cause of this condition is unknown. We cannot yet determine what happened!”
Other technicians reported the status.
They too could not comprehend what had occurred, the situation exceeded the bounds of common understanding.
However, the one saving grace was that the underground city would not be destroyed, and the mortal peril had been averted.
“Go check on Xia Yi!” Yuren ordered.
The others snapped out of their daze and reacted.
Among them, a technician who could use magic summoned a small orb of light to illuminate the path to the core processor and hurried forward. The rest followed closely behind.
They gathered before the core processor and saw the silver dragon girl lying on the ground, unconscious.
Yet she appeared to be unharmed, not reduced to the charred corpse they had imagined.
“Ugh…?”
Sensing the gazes of the others, Xia Yi opened her eyes, picked herself up from the ground, and shook her head.
She looked at the people around her with confusion, glanced at the dark underground city, and asked, “What happened?”
“Xia Yi, do you remember nothing?” Yuren inquired.
“I remember linking to the underground city’s magical circuits, a massive amount of magical energy flowed into my body. I couldn’t withstand it, and my consciousness began to fade…”
Xia Yi tried hard to recall, but could not remember what came after.
“I have little memory of what happened afterward.”
“Er…”
The others exchanged glances, unsure of what to say.
“What about the miniature core processor?” Yuren pressed further.
“Here.”
Xia Yi raised her hand, and the miniature core processor floated above her palm.
The black cube had now transformed into a blue one, entering an activated state, its lines pulsing rhythmically like breathing.
She gave it a try, adjusting the light and dark levels of various zones according to her will, and indeed, the miniature core processor responded, causing changes. This meant she had successfully stabilized and controlled the magical circuits across the different areas.
“We… we succeeded!!”
The gold-rimmed glasses technician shouted with elation, nearly jumping for joy.
“This means you have successfully linked to the core processor and can control it, even remotely. The magical circuits of every zone in the underground city can now be regulated according to your intent, achieving coordinated configuration, meeting the conditions for the mobile fortress to take flight!”
“Eh? Is that so?”
Xia Yi blinked in surprise.
“Could it be… that you are truly a genius?” The gold-rimmed glasses technician looked at Xia Yi, beaming from ear to ear.
“Phew, good, my judgment was not wrong.” Yuren let out a long breath of relief, his anxious heart finally settling.
The other technicians cheered, embraced one another, and celebrated. The flying mobile fortress that had existed only in their imaginations was about to become reality, they were so moved they could barely hold back tears.
“Um… what did I do, exactly?”
Xia Yi gazed at her own hands. She felt her body had become incredibly light, with magical energy surging within her, and she was brimming with power from head to toe.
This wondrous transformation puzzled her greatly, and she even had the illusion that she had achieved a significant enhancement.
Could it be that at the critical moment, she had instinctively employed some special ability?
