    Volume 6 + Chapter 31: Elly’s Solution

An elderly Dragon Clan healer, draped in a healing robe, was focusing his mind, releasing a gentle flow of magical power that enveloped Xia Lulu.

Tiny beads of sweat had formed on his brow, and his breathing was rapid and labored, clearly, the pressure of the treatment was immense.

    “…”

Xia Yi watched in silence from the side.

After a moment, the healer’s body suddenly jolted. The magical energy covering Xia Lulu faded away, and he collapsed to the floor, drenched in sweat.

“What is the result?” Xia Yi asked.

“Forgive me, Princess. I… I am truly powerless. With my healing magic, I cannot cure Her Majesty the Queen’s condition.”

The healer could not even lift his head before Xia Yi.

“I fear that only a divine being descending upon this world could save Her Majesty the Queen…”

    “…”

Xia Yi fell silent once more.

Three days had passed since Xia Lulu collapsed.

In those three days, she had tried every possible method to extend Xia Lulu’s life.

She had sought out renowned physicians within the Dragon Kingdom, summoned healers capable of snatching souls from the underworld’s grasp…

Yet in the end, not a single person could save Xia Lulu.

This had become a hopeless deadlock.

    “…Enough. You may go.”

    “I am deeply sorry, Princess…”

The healer bowed respectfully to Xia Yi and left Xia Lulu’s room in a humble manner.

“Is there truly… no way at all?” Xia Yi was sinking into despair.

    Click.

The door to Xia Lulu’s room opened.

    The venerable healer stepped out.

The people outside immediately crowded around him.

“How is Her Majesty the Queen? Can she be saved?!” Elly hurried forward and asked.

    “…Alas.”

The healer shook his head, let out a long, heavy sigh, expressed his apologies to the members of the Royal Maids Corps, and then left.

“How could this happen? We’ve found so many doctors and healers in all this time, yet not one of them can bring Her Majesty back?”

Elly clutched her head and sat down on the floor.

“Why did Her Majesty suddenly collapse…!”

“It wasn’t sudden, Elly,” Lucia said. “Her Majesty’s health has been failing for a long time. She just never spoke of it.”

    “Well…”

Elly was so frantic she didn’t know what to say.

No one had foreseen this situation.

In a few days, Xia Lulu might pass away.

To prevent the Dragon Kingdom from falling into chaos, the news of Xia Lulu’s collapse had not yet been officially announced. Only a handful of people knew.

Lucia, leveraging her special status, had told the others that Xia Lulu was busy with matters and would not appear for the time being, thus maintaining order within the Dragon Royal Palace.

But this was not a long-term solution.

“Sister Serra, the Princess hasn’t closed her eyes at all these past few days, has she?” Elly asked. “And she hasn’t eaten anything either. Her health is going to suffer!”

“I know,” Serra replied, her expression pained. “I’ve tried to persuade Her Highness, but right now she won’t listen to anyone.”

“That’s not acceptable! The Princess cannot collapse. Her Majesty the Queen has already fallen ill. If something happens to her too, what will become of the Dragon Royal Family then? Can’t we think of something?”

    “…”

    No one answered.

Everyone understood that this blow was far too heavy for Xia Yi. They could only let her be alone for a while.

No one else could reach her heart, only Xia Lulu’s recovery would offer any hope.

    But that was already impossible…

“I’ll think of something!” Elly gritted her teeth. “I can’t just stand by and watch the Princess break down!”

“Elly, if you disturb the Princess, she’ll be angry,” Serra warned.

“Then let her be angry! I’d rather have my head chopped off!!”

Elly flung out her bold declaration, her head clouded by emotion, and pushed the door open on the spot, walking inside.

    “…”

Xia Yi sat beside Xia Lulu, gazing at her mother in silence, her eyes devoid of any light.

“Your Highness, are you hungry? Would you like something to eat?” Elly asked cautiously.

    “…”

Xia Yi did not respond to Elly.

The air seemed to freeze solid.

“Your Highness, this isn’t good for you. Your health will suffer,” Elly pressed on nervously. “If you collapse, and Her Majesty the Queen finds out, she would be devastated…”

    “?”

As if hearing a keyword, Xia Yi turned her face toward Elly, seemingly angered.

Her gaze was icy and terrifying.

    “Elly. Out.”

    “Waaah…”

Panicked, Elly was frightened to tears. Her legs trembled uncontrollably, and her mind went blank.

Yet, she didn’t know where she found the nerve, perhaps she truly no longer cared about her entire bloodline, and she blurted out a sentence.

“Your Highness, Her Majesty the Queen might… be savable!!”

“What?” The fury on Xia Yi’s face vanished. “Elly, are you saying you have a way to save Xia Lulu?”

    “Uh… um… I…”

Elly’s mouth seemed to have lost control.

“Your Highness, please go eat something first, rest a little, and then I will tell you!”

“…” Having gone without rest for so long, Xia Yi’s mind was groggy and she could barely think.

“R-Really! Your Highness, trust me just this once!” Elly shouted. “There is a way, but you have to do as I say first!”

“Very well, Elly. You had better not be lying to me.”

Xia Yi stood up and left Xia Lulu’s room.

The members of the Royal Maids Corps were astonished to see her come out.

“Take me to get something to eat. I need to rest,” Xia Yi said.

“Yes, Your Highness, please follow me,” Serra immediately agreed and led Xia Yi away.

    “Ah… ah…”

Elly staggered out like a zombie, her face wearing an expression of utter hopelessness.

“Junior, you are incredible! How did you do it?!”

    Atiya grabbed Elly’s hands.

“None of us could persuade the Princess, and yet you actually managed it! This is truly unexpected!”

“Yes, Elly. It seems we still underestimated you. You played such a crucial role here.” Lucia praised her.

But despite the compliments from the others, Elly showed not the slightest hint of joy.

She didn’t have any real way to save Xia Lulu at all. She had only said those words because she felt Xia Yi absolutely needed to rest.

Once Xia Yi had rested, she would definitely come back and demand to know Elly’s method for saving Xia Lulu.

If Elly couldn’t provide one, she would undoubtedly be touching Xia Yi’s most sensitive nerve, walking right into the line of fire. The final outcome would certainly be…

“Waaaaahhh, I’m doomed!” Elly’s composure completely shattered. “The Princess is definitely going to kill me!”
