Volume 6 Chapter 27
by Golden DragonVolume 6 + Chapter 27: All Ready
“Princess, are you satisfied with this?”
Serra pushed a mirror in front of Xia Yi.
Xia Yi looked at herself in the mirror.
Her cute face was lightly made up. Her silver long hair was styled into an elegant updo. She wore a magnificent silver gown, revealing her fair, slender calves, and her delicate feet were adorned with crystal-like high heels.
She looked just like a princess who had stepped out of a fairy tale book.
“Not bad at all,” Xia Yi said.
“Many people will come to the Dragon Clan royal palace today. Today is your day, you are the long-awaited heroine.”
“Mm…”
Xia Yi replied absentmindedly.
She didn’t particularly care how luxurious this birthday banquet would be.
What she was thinking about was how spectacular it would be when she blew up the Dragon Clan royal palace later.
She couldn’t wait any longer. When night came, she would make her move.
Anyway, Xia Lulu was no longer in the Dragon Clan royal palace, she had left the northern imperial capital. So then, she would…
Do whatever she wants!
“Princess, now that you’re fully dressed, let’s set off,” Serra suggested.
“Alright.”
Xia Yi nodded and left the room with Serra.
In addition to members of the Dragon Clan royal family, some important ministers who were not usually in the northern imperial capital would also come here to celebrate Xia Yi’s birthday.
As the heir to the Dragon Clan royal family, Xia Yi needed to receive these people.
…
“Sigh… I’m finally done receiving all these people.”
Xia Yi leaned back in her chair and sighed.
“Princess, you handled those officials quite well,” Serra said, placing a cup of tea in front of her. “I thought you might have given up halfway.”
“I was very tempted to do that, but…”
Xia Yi picked up the teacup.
On her way through the Dragon Clan royal palace, she ran into Karami.
Karami first expressed congratulations on Xia Yi’s birthday, then went on a long string of bizarre statements.
Something about hegemony, great leadership, the makings of an emperor, Xia Yi had no idea how to respond.
Her image had already been established, she could only keep up the act.
“Serra, did Elly come to work today?” Xia Yi took a sip of tea.
“Elly did come to work today.”
“What was she doing before? She was gone for so long.”
Xia Yi asked tentatively, wanting to see if Elly had sold her out.
“Elly was stammering, unable to get a single word out after half a day. It made Lucia very angry, and she ended up giving her a serious warning.”
“Oh…”
Xia Yi pretended not to care on the surface, but inwardly, she was smiling.
Just as she thought, Elly was the most useful!
She put down her teacup and, while Serra was tidying up documents, quietly slipped toward the door.
“Serra, I have something to do. I need to step out for a while. I’ll be back later!!”
“Princess?!”
“Don’t wait for me for lunch!”
Without giving a reason, Xia Yi acted first and reported later, leaving those words behind as she departed.
She moved through the Dragon Clan royal palace, asked a few people, and quickly determined Elly’s location.
“Sob, sob, sob, sob, sob, sob, I’m a pitiful dragon maidservant, severely warned, my wages are about to be cut…”
Elly had a miserable look on her face as she was busy cleaning.
“Found you, Elly. Come, follow me!”
Xia Yi walked up, grabbed her by the arm without explanation, and began dragging her away.
“Princess? Wait, I still have duties to complete!”
“Elly, you haven’t repaid my kindness yet. Now is the time for you to show your gratitude!”
“I was already warned by Sister Lucia! If I disappear again, I’ll lose my wages!”
“Wages? I’ll cover your wages with my allowance. From now on, you’re mine!” Xia Yi’s declaration was like that of a domineering CEO.
“Waaah, I’m so unlucky!”
Elly couldn’t resist Xia Yi, and her spirit collapsed once again.
“Why does the princess always torment just me?!”
…
“Princess, what is this?”
“This is… explosives.”
“Explosives? That’s not right, this wouldn’t be enough to blow up the Dragon Clan royal palace, would it?”
“Shut up. Don’t ask too many questions. Anyway, just stay here, don’t let anyone else find you, and follow my instructions.”
“Alright…”
…
…
“Princess, you’ve finally returned. We looked everywhere for you and were almost about to dispatch the royal palace guards to search.”
Serra said this to Xia Yi upon her return.
Night had fallen, and the time for the birthday banquet had arrived.
Quite a large number of guests had gathered in the hall of the Dragon Clan royal palace.
“Ahem, I didn’t go anywhere special. I just went to the back garden to play a little and lost track of time…”
Xia Yi averted her gaze and made up an excuse.
The signs of her guilty conscience did not escape Serra’s eyes.
However, the red dragon maidservant said nothing more and merely maintained her professional smile.
“It’s good that you’re back. Let me tidy you up a little, your hair is a bit messy.”
“Mm.”
Xia Yi followed Serra to the dressing room.
She snickered to herself.
Everything was now ready!
…
…
“Your Majesty the Queen.”
“…”
“Your Majesty the Queen.”
“…”
“Your Majesty the Queen, the princess’s birthday banquet has already begun,” Lucia reminded.
“Xia Yi’s… birthday…”
Xia Lulu murmured, rubbing her eyes.
“How long has it been going on?”
“Not long. I was concerned about your condition, so I came to this kitchen to check, and I found you sleeping here.”
“Ugh…”
It took Xia Lulu nearly a minute to fully wake up.
She raised her head. On the table was a beautifully wrapped cake.
And all around were failed cakes, piled up everywhere.
To adjust the flavor to her daughter’s liking, she had spent quite some time.
But halfway through, for some reason, it seemed she had lost consciousness…
“The birthday banquet isn’t over yet, is it?”
“No, it’s only just started,” Lucia replied.
“That’s good. We’re not too late.”
Xia Lulu stood up. She reached her hand toward the cake and noticed her body trembling slightly.
What was happening?
Why did it feel like her hand no longer belonged to her body, refusing to obey?
“Your Majesty?” Lucia sensed that something wasn’t right.
“Lucia, go wait by the door,” Xia Lulu instructed.
“Your Majesty, perhaps… you should go rest for a while. You look tired. Delivering the cake is something we can handle.”
“No.”
Xia Lulu blurted out, rejecting the suggestion outright.
“…”
“Lucia, don’t overthink it. It’s just a minor issue. It won’t affect me.” Xia Lulu felt she could hold on a little longer.
“I understand, Your Majesty.” Lucia lowered her head and withdrew from the room.
Xia Lulu bit her silver lip lightly and carefully lifted the cake with both hands. “Xia Yi, I promised you that I would definitely celebrate your birthday with you…”
