Volume 5 Chapter 26
by Need_More_SleepVolume 5 + Chapter 26: This Is Exactly What I Wanted To See
“An alliance of hegemony…?”
Karami muttered the words, feeling deeply shaken inside.
Xia Yi replied firmly, “Yes. Once an alliance of hegemony is established, it will inevitably rewrite the history of this land. The influence of the dragon clan, the vampire clan, and the fox clan will be enough to make many nations waver. At the same time, it will show them possibilities they’ve never imagined! Whether they wish to or not, these nations will be forced to choose a side, either join the hegemonic alliance and acknowledge the dragon clan, or oppose the dragon clan and stand against us!”
“This… is simply… incredible!”
Karami exclaimed, caught up in awe. He was captivated by the future Xia Yi had painted.
“This is exactly what I wanted to see!”
“Even if we still suspect that the fox clan is playing the same petty games as always, focusing only on immediate benefits… we cannot deny the possibility of establishing a dragon hegemony alliance. I am willing to take that chance and attempt contact with the fox clan for this very possibility.”
Xia Yi’s eyes shone with unwavering conviction.
“History’s greatest achievers often bore tremendous risks. Even if they failed, they would be vilified for generations. Did they retreat? No! Compared to them, my small adventure, relative to the future of the dragon clan, is nothing at all!”
“Magnificent, Princess!!”
Karami’s eyes filled with tears, and he couldn’t help but applaud.
To be honest, he hadn’t expected this. From the palace’s perspective, Xia Yi was a cute little princess who spent her days clinging to the queen and acting spoiled.
Yet in truth, he was stunned by her courage, her vision, and her far-reaching insight.
“Then, Karami, do you still think we should advise Xia Lulu to cancel this diplomatic mission?” Xia Yi asked.
“No, Princess! Please forgive my foolishness! It is I who was wrong!” Karami said passionately. “Princess, would you like me to relay your words to the rest of the dragon clan?”
“I don’t need everyone to understand, Karami. If you do, that’s enough,” Xia Yi replied calmly. “All I need is to follow my own beliefs.”
“Princess…!!”
Karami, the veteran minister, was deeply moved.
This was the highest level of recognition and approval he could have imagined.
He finally realized one thing, everyone had been deceived by the princess’s outward appearance.
What Xia Yi usually displayed was merely a facade, making people subconsciously overlook the sharpness within her, concealing the ambition she harbored.
Yet in a short period, Xia Yi · Christie had already accomplished feats beyond ordinary comprehension.
Even the most outstanding dragon emperors in history, at her age, would still be receiving education inside the palace. Xia Yi, meanwhile, fought on the frontlines and suppressed domestic rebellions simultaneously.
If it were anyone else, they would have been loudly proclaiming their achievements by now.
But Xia Yi had not done so.
Only the queen truly understood her daughter and had been continuously nurturing her.
Perhaps by the time the public finally realized it, Xia Yi would have grown into the next dragon emperor.
At that time, she would reign supreme over the world.
Karami felt deep shame for underestimating Xia Yi, and he resolved in his heart that, if possible, he would dedicate himself entirely to supporting the future dragon emperor.
“Princess, I will fully support your diplomatic mission to Fox Hill. Should any voice of doubt or opposition arise, I will help you stop it. You have my assurance!” Karami declared solemnly.
Xia Yi was slightly surprised. She didn’t know what had come over the old minister all of a sudden.
In fact, her earlier speech had been entirely fabricated out of a desire to avoid eating broccoli.
Yet judging by the result… it seemed… not bad at all?
……
……
Fox Hill.
The Nine-Tailed Fox Emperor stood in the courtyard, quietly watching the yellowed leaves drift from the trees and fall into the stream, carried away by the water.
He then closed his eyes, envisioning all the possible futures of the fox clan in his mind.
In the darkness of his thoughts, he could feel the leaves floating and sinking on the water’s surface.
If the current era were this flowing stream, then the fox clan seemed to be…
The leaves were slowly sinking, powerless against the current, offering no resistance.
The Nine-Tailed Fox Emperor furrowed his brow.
But at that moment,
“Father.”
Yue Liu scooped up one of the leaves from the water, holding it in her hands as she approached her father.
This small, unintended action caused the emperor’s frown to smooth out. He opened his eyes, looked at his daughter with surprise, and smiled.
Perhaps it was a sign from heaven, the one who would change the fate of the fox clan was no longer himself.
“Father, regarding the situation in the Crimson Empire, the dragon clan has taken new action. I have come to report it to you,” Yue Liu said.
“Has the dragon nation started sending troops?”
“Yes. Our intelligence personnel stationed at the borders of the dragon nation have observed the movements of the dragon army. They have left the dragon nation and are heading toward the Crimson Empire,” Yue Liu explained. “The vampire clan has no objections and seems prepared to welcome the dragon forces.”
“This is not surprising. With the vampire clan’s current strength, they cannot defend their own nation and have no choice but to rely on the dragon clan. The vampire clan has no alternatives.”
“Father, although the fox clan’s international status and prestige have risen significantly, most of the gains will still be taken by the dragon clan… Those dragons are infuriating!”
“The dragon clan’s resources are still too powerful. Moreover, who would have thought the vampire clan would cooperate so fully with them? At least our minimum expectations have been met,” the Nine-Tailed Fox Emperor said. “With this large influx of funds, we can strengthen the overall power of the fox clan…”
Thanks to the dragon clan’s assistance plan, the vampire clan, previously unable to pay reparations, could now fulfill the treaty obligations with the victorious nation.
At the very least, this war was no longer a losing venture.
After this war, the Nine-Tailed Fox Emperor’s thoughts began to shift. Deep in his heart, his approach toward the dragon clan had subtly changed…
“Father, why have you suddenly gone quiet?” Yue Liu asked.
“Nothing.”
The Nine-Tailed Fox Emperor shook his head.
His gaze fell on his daughter.
In these few years, she had grown from a young nine-tailed fox into a breathtaking beauty.
After a moment of silence, he realized something and asked a rather unexpected question.
“Yue Liu, do you have someone you like now?”
