Volume 4 Chapter 278

“Finally~ We’re back~!”
Xia Yi stood on the dragon’s back, gazing down at the Northern Royal Capital below.
She had returned from the Holy Crimson Empire… or rather, the Crimson Empire, to the Dragon Kingdom. After all, the Holy Crimson Empire had fallen during the anti-Vampire Clan war.
Besides her, the Special Anti-Vampire Clan Operations Force, under her leadership, had also returned in glory.
After the war ended, Xia Lulu rested for a day to recover her condition. She took back charge of the Dragon Clan’s affairs and swiftly handled them all.
Afterwards, Xia Lulu returned to the Dragon Kingdom ahead of schedule, as news of her absence could potentially cause major unrest.
Xia Yi, however, stayed in Vampire Clan territory for a while longer.
During that time, she met with several people.
The little fox came to find Xia Yi and made a series of strange declarations. Most of the content was too “chuuni” for Xia Yi to fully grasp, but she did remember one thing, something like, “I alone shall be your destined rival!”
Though why the little fox said that, Xia Yi wasn’t quite sure.
Eve also came to see Xia Yi, discussing ordinary topics. She even thanked Xia Yi for deflating Kennedy’s arrogance.
It seemed that the Elven General really wasn’t well-liked. Apparently, even within the Elven Kingdom, many were dissatisfied with him.
As for Tia…
Later, she didn’t meet with Xia Yi and left with the human army.
Miu Miu met with Xia Yi and expressed her intention to find a way to rebuild the Rose Garden. She also mentioned she would have a surprise for Xia Yi the next time she invited her to the Vampire Clan.
Xia Yi said she would visit the Vampire Clan again if she had the chance.
With the war over, Xia Yi had completed her mission. There was no need to stay in the Crimson Empire long-term, so she returned to the Dragon Kingdom along with the Special Anti-Vampire Clan Operations Force.
However, she felt like she might have forgotten someone…
Never mind, it doesn’t seem important!
“Hurry up!! It’s the Dragon Clan troops returning from the campaign!!”
“And Her Highness the Princess!!”
“Her Highness actually led our Dragon Clan soldiers to defeat the Vampire Clan this time!!”
The dragons of the Northern Royal Capital saw the figures in the sky and burst into cheers.
“Hehehe!”
Xia Yi puffed out her chest with pride, enjoying the gazes of the dragons. She felt her authority continuously rising, about to max out and break through the heavens.
“Your Highness, the people are warmly welcoming your return!” the Captain said happily.
“Of course they are. I already said I would definitely defeat the Vampire Ancestor!” Xia Yi replied. “However, the role of the dragons who campaigned with me cannot be overlooked. This glory belongs not only to me but also to all of you!”
“We are honored by your recognition, Your Highness!”
The Captain was very excited. So were the other dragon soldiers who had been on the campaign, for this was recognition from the Dragon Royal Family itself. The significance of that needs no further explanation.
The Captain carried Xia Yi to the gates of the Dragon Royal Palace. The gate guards immediately came forward to welcome her, expressing their joy at her return.
“Captain, let the soldiers go rest. After all they’ve been through, everyone must be tired,” Xia Yi said.
“As you command, Your Highness,” the Captain acknowledged.
Before Xia Yi could even step through the palace gates, a familiar voice rang out.
“Welcome back, Your Highness.”
The red dragon maid sister bowed to Xia Yi, her face wearing its usual gentle smile.
“Serra!!”
It had been so long since Xia Yi had seen her personal maid. To say she hadn’t missed her would be a lie. She ran towards Serra and launched herself into a flying tackle.
Serra caught her steadily.
“Serra, I missed you during this time!”
“Yes, Your Highness. I have also been thinking of you and waiting for your return,” Serra replied.
“Outside, I hardly ever got to have proper afternoon tea…”
“Your Highness, knowing you were returning, I have already prepared your favorite afternoon tea in advance.”
“Yay!! Afternoon tea! Are there osmanthus cakes? And your hand-brewed milk tea?!”
Hearing “afternoon tea,” a brilliant smile instantly bloomed on Xia Yi’s face.
“Your Highness…”
The dragon soldiers showed somewhat surprised expressions. The Captain also froze in place.
Oh no!!
Xia Yi realized the situation was bad. Darn it, she got too excited, forgot others were watching, and let her guard down.
It’s over, it’s over… That flying tackle into Serra’s arms just now, and her remarks about afternoon tea… They’re definitely going to misunderstand!
Her face slightly flushed, she immediately extricated herself from Serra’s embrace, desperately trying to salvage her image.
“Ahem! Serra, I was just joking with you earlier!” Xia Yi changed her expression.
“Please remove all the sweets from the afternoon tea. I don’t like those things anymore.”
“Is that so?”
“Prepare a cup of pure, bitter coffee for me! The kind only adults drink!”
Xia Yi rushed to rescue her persona.
Serra looked at Xia Yi, a pleased expression flashing across her face before she quickly hid it, bowing again. “Understood, Your Highness. I will immediately replace all the afternoon tea items. Since you no longer enjoy sweets, I will put away the osmanthus cakes specially prepared for you.”
“What? Osmanthus cakes?!”
Hearing “osmanthus cakes,” Xia Yi’s expression began to waver uncontrollably.
She glanced to the side again. The Captain, the other dragon soldiers, and the palace gate guards were all watching.
No way!
If she gives in here, won’t her authority plummet again?
But… These are osmanthus cakes!
But… What about her authority?!
Two different voices seemed to argue in her heart, forcing her to choose one.
Authority!
Osmanthus cakes!
Authority!
Osmanthus cakes!
Authority!
Osmanthus cakes!!
She didn’t want to give up either side. She felt like she was about to split in two.
“Your Highness, I will keep the osmanthus cakes for you,” Serra whispered.
“Serra!”
Xia Yi was deeply moved upon hearing this.
As expected, Serra understands her best!
This way, wouldn’t she preserve both her authority and the osmanthus cakes?
She immediately seized the chance to continue the act.
“Very well, Serra. Then proceed to prepare the afternoon tea as I requested.”
“As you wish,” Serra nodded.
The little princess glanced at the Captain and the dragon soldiers. They seemed to be discussing something, then bowed to her in unison before departing.
Excellent, my persona has been successfully maintained!!
Just as Xia Yi was delighting in this small victory, Serra suddenly spoke again.
“Your Highness, there is one matter I need to report to you.”
“Hmm?”
“Her Majesty the Queen has instructed that you are to see her immediately upon your return,” Serra said. “It is a matter of considerable importance…”
