Volume 4 Chapter 162
by Need_More_SleepVolume 4 + Chapter 162: Everything Under Control
Within the elven encampment.
At this very moment, the Succubus lady was staring furiously at the gray-haired elven princess before her, her anger barely contained.
“Eve!!”
“Hm?”
Eve, who had been resting, opened her eyes.
“What’s wrong, Ella? Why are you suddenly so angry?”
“Do you know what happened to me?”
“I don’t know.”
Eve shook her head blankly.
“That damn little silver dragon kidnapped me and did… all kinds of things to me!” Ella shouted. “My purity as a Succubus is already gone!!”
“Something like that actually happened?”
“And you still have the nerve to say that, you accomplice! Eve! You betrayed me!” Ella snapped angrily.
“When did I ever betray you?”
“When Xia Yi brought the dragon clan into the elven camp! She was clearly carrying a sack on her shoulder, yet you didn’t even check it—you just let her through! And when Xia Yi made her request, you even handed over cream!” Ella stamped her feet in rage. “I was inside that sack!”
“Ah?” Eve showed a surprised expression. “I thought you had already come back earlier.”
“I was played miserably by that little silver dragon!”
“Who could have imagined that your carefully prepared plan would end in this way?” Eve said regretfully. “I truly sympathize with your experience, Ella.”
“Not only was I drained dry, I was even forced to become Xia Yi’s… wuu wuu wuu!”
Ella began wiping away tears that didn’t exist. After quite a while, she turned aggressive and interrogated Eve.
“You deliberately sold me out just to curry favor with Xia Yi! Fine, very fine! You didn’t help your partner at all—on the contrary, you got infatuated with a silver dragon full of bad intentions!”
“I don’t understand what you’re talking about, Ella…”
“And you still claim you don’t understand things between girls? I think you’re just a born yuri!”
Ella pointed at Eve’s beautiful face—it was practically the standard template for a yuri manga heroine.
“Today, you must give me an explanation!”
“But everything I said is the truth,” Eve replied helplessly, spreading her hands. “Xia Yi represents the dragon clan. It was our elven race who invited the dragon clan as reinforcements, so hosting Xia Yi and her group was simply what we should have done. I’ve told you more than once already—your personal grudge with Xia Yi cannot affect something as important as the anti–vampire clan war. I fulfilled all of your requests, and you were the one who said you would take Xia Yi down with a one-hundred-percent success rate.”
“Well… that…”
On that point, Ella really couldn’t argue back.
Still, she felt deeply displeased.
“But you even gave Xia Yi tools to help her bully me!”
“Tools? What tools?”
“Stop pretending—it was the cream!”
“Xia Yi told me she wanted to eat some dessert, so she asked us for cream,” Eve explained. “Cream isn’t anything valuable, so we gave it to her.”
“Th-then why didn’t you save me at the time?! You just watched as I was taken away!”
“I didn’t know it was you inside. Besides, if you had shouted a couple of times and I realized it was you, I definitely would have helped.”
“I…”
Ella was rendered speechless.
At the time, her mouth had been stuffed with black stockings and completely blocked—how was she supposed to shout?
Looking at it that way, it really didn’t seem to have anything to do with Eve…
“Your Highness!”
Suddenly, the voice of an elven soldier came from outside the door.
Ella had no choice but to forcibly quiet down—this was something Eve had to respond to.
“What is it?”
“The general has returned and requests that you go see him,” the elven soldier reported.
He didn’t come personally, but instead sent a subordinate to summon the elven princess—this alone showed just how high the general’s status was within the elven race.
“I understand. I’ll go right away. You may return and report,” Eve said.
“Yes, Your Highness.”
The elven soldier departed.
Eve stood up. “Ella, I have official duties right now and must leave. If there’s anything else, we’ll talk after I come back.”
……
Eve arrived at the meeting chamber within the camp.
The elven general had returned from outside. He stood before a battle map with his hands clasped behind his back, his face hidden from view.
The other elven officers stood off to the side, not daring to make a sound. The atmosphere was heavy.
It was obvious—Kennedy was angry.
From the side, Eve noticed that the elven officer who had accompanied her earlier to meet Xia Yi was present as well. He had likely already reported what had happened to Kennedy.
“Princess Eve, you’ve arrived.”
Kennedy slowly turned around. Though he appeared calm on the surface, anger burned in his eyes.
“Could you explain why, during my absence from the camp, you chose to act unilaterally and issued certain unnecessary orders?”
“Kennedy, are you referring to allowing the dragon clan into our elven camp?” Eve asked.
“What else could it be? His Majesty the Elven King has already stated that all military authority over the elven army is now entrusted to me, including final decision-making power over all matters related to the anti–vampire clan war!”
Kennedy fixed his gaze on Eve.
“I already gave orders in advance—if the dragon clan arrived, they were to be stationed in the area we arranged. Your actions now are a direct violation of orders! The only reason you’re still standing here is because you’re the granddaughter of His Majesty the Elven King. If it were anyone else, you should be very clear what their fate would be!”
Some of the elven officers had already begun to snicker quietly.
In their eyes, this elven princess was still somewhat naive.
“Are you not planning to cooperate with the dragon clan, Kennedy?” Eve said. “Using the power of the dragon clan to break through the vampire clan’s checkpoint is the best choice.”
“You truly don’t understand the bigger picture, Princess Eve,” Kennedy replied disdainfully. “This war is not merely about subjugating the powerful vampire clan—it is also a war to reshape the world’s balance of power. In this war, the elven race must use every possible means to fight for a higher position for our future.”
Kennedy sneered.
“If we follow your approach, the dragon clan would end up taking a share of our achievements. Do you understand? We can completely use methods that allow the dragon clan not only to help us breach the checkpoint, but also to become the stepping stone of our victory—without taking even a shred of credit.”
“……”
“I originally gave you some face by allowing you to follow the army and learn, yet you almost caused a major disaster. Princess Eve, you should calmly reflect on where you went wrong. This is also for your own good.”
Kennedy gave the order:
“Guards! Take Princess Eve away and keep her under strict supervision. Without my orders, she is not to act on her own again!”
“Yes!”
The elven soldiers stepped up to Eve’s side and saluted respectfully.
“Your Highness, please come this way.”
Eve glanced at Kennedy, then at the attitudes of the others. Almost no one was willing to stand on her side. She could only turn around and, under the escort of the elven soldiers, leave the meeting chamber.
In truth, when the Elven King sent Eve to accompany the army, it was also with the intention of having the royal family oversee the military. Now that an opportunity had arisen, the elven general removed this troublesome obstacle, freeing himself from constraints.
Thus, as Kennedy watched the elven princess’s departing figure, he smiled inwardly.
“Everything is under control.”
