Volume 4 Chapter 34
by Need_More_SleepVolume 4 + Chapter 34: The Sovereign of Night
“You’ve disappointed me again, Miu Miu.”
Miu Miu heard a voice that chilled her to the marrow.
She forced her head up and saw, not far ahead, her biological father—the Vampire King, Herman—standing motionless, staring at his daughter with a stone-cold expression.
Beside him stood an elderly vampire noble. His name was Owen Garcia, a powerful minister of the crown and the chancellor of the Crimson Empire.
Chancellor Owen was holding a special black parasol, shielding Herman with a pocket of shade beneath the scorching sunlight.
“Father…” Miu Miu’s expression collapsed into despair.
Herman was holding a glowing sphere in his hand—Radiance of Glory, a royal artifact passed down through the vampire dynasty.
This vast domain of sunlight was created by the Radiance of Glory.
Since ancient times, the Vampire Empire had always guarded the Radiance of Glory. Anyone who dared defy the authority of the Vampire King would be reduced to ash beneath its power.
When dealing with high-ranking criminals of the Crimson Empire, the Vampire King would also use the Radiance of Glory to administer punishment.
In the presence of this artifact, even vampire princes of the purest bloodlines were forced to kneel before their king.
Whoever commanded the greatest bane of vampires could use it to silence rebellions and rule the blood race without restraint.
“Miu Miu, you’ve run away from the palace again and again—several times, you even succeeded,” Herman said. “Do you not understand why?”
“That’s… because…”
“Yes. Because I allowed it. If I hadn’t indulged your behavior, tolerated your childish whims, how could you possibly have escaped even once?”
Herman’s face was etched with disappointment.
“By now, you should have learned to grow up. Why do you still defy my orders?”
“I—I… don’t want to stay here!!” Miu Miu cried.
She braced her hands against the burning ground, struggling to rise though her body was on the brink of collapse beneath the sunlight.
Still, the silver-haired girl forced herself one step forward to show her resolve.
“I want to leave the Vampire Royal Palace!”
“Oh?”
Herman raised an eyebrow.
“Leave the palace? And where do you plan to go?”
Miu Miu fell silent.
She didn’t have many places she could go.
Perhaps only one…
“But tell me—would the dragons truly accept you?”
Herman’s tone suggested he had seen directly through her heart.
“How foolish you are, placing your hopes in the arrogant dragon race.”
“—!”
“You really think that spending a little time with the Silver Dragon Princess would change anything?”
Herman mercilessly dismantled the fragile truth.
“My foolish daughter, no matter how much importance you place on that girl, you are nothing to her. In the eyes of the Silver Dragon Princess, you are merely a passerby—someone who happens to exist in her life. She will not care about your fate, nor your future.”
“I…”
Miu Miu’s determination wavered. What she had barely gathered was close to collapsing.
Indeed—this was the truth she feared facing most.
Even if she made it to the Dragon Kingdom, seeing Xia Yi at all would already be a matter of luck.
And even if she did see Xia Yi, and begged her to take her in…
Herman, as the Vampire King, would pressure the dragons. They would return Miu Miu, just as they had before.
For Xia Yi to risk the entire Dragon Race for her…
Miu Miu could not imagine such a thing.
Just as Herman said—she was nothing more than a passing figure in Xia Yi’s life.
“If one day you were to die, the Silver Dragon Princess might remember—oh yes, someone like you existed. But that’s all. By the next day, she would likely forget.”
Every word from Herman struck directly at Miu Miu’s heart.
“That is the place you hold in her life.”
“Stop… please…”
Miu Miu lowered her head. The pain in her heart was far worse than the sunlight burning her skin.
Her eyes brimmed with tears, but they evaporated before they could fall.
“Miu Miu · Borgia. In this world, the only one who still cares about you… is me. Your sole purpose for living is the mission I grant you—as the perfect vessel.”
As Herman spoke, he glanced toward the chancellor.
Owen bowed slightly in understanding.
He used magic to keep the black parasol floating in place, then took out a specially patterned briefcase and presented it respectfully.
“Your Majesty.”
“Hm.”
Herman bit his fingertip, letting his royal blood drip onto the case.
Once his blood touched the patterns, they lit up in a crimson glow—this was a unique recognition system that only pure-blood royals could activate.
Inside, wrapped in red cloth, lay a vial containing a mysterious, ancient blood.
Upon seeing the vial, the chancellor’s pupils trembled. Awe surged in him, his heart overwhelmed. Kneeling inwardly with reverence, he whispered its exalted name—
“The Blood of the Progenitor…!”
Herman seized the vial and raised his hand. Using blood magic, he cracked it open, the blood lashed out like a whip, wrapping around Miu Miu.
Before the blood could evaporate entirely under the sunlight, Herman dragged Miu Miu into the shade at his side, then plunged the Progenitor’s Blood into the back of her neck, injecting it into her body.
“U—ugh…!”
Miu Miu’s eyes flushed with crimson light. As the Progenitor’s Blood poured into her, a terrifying tide of blood-energy erupted from her being.
It surpassed her current level by far—jumping past the Third Realm… the Fourth Realm… the Fifth Realm… rising endlessly—even surpassing Herman, placing her above the rank of Highborn Kings.
“No… don’t… take away my… self…!!”
Miu Miu tried to resist the Progenitor’s Blood.
But within that ancient blood, she sensed a will beyond defiance—invading everything she was.
With her current strength, she could never withstand a power from the mythic era. Her consciousness was crushed; the light faded completely from her eyes.
A perfect vessel—this was the existence known as Miu Miu.
Behind her unfurled vast, black wings. She lifted into the sky, and behind her, a faint divine halo emerged.
With a single beat of her black wings, the miles of blazing sunlight vanished. She dispelled the entire Radiance of Glory’s domain, plunging the world back into shadow.
It was as though the being hovering in the sky was no longer the vampire princess at all.
Owen immediately fell to his knees—prostrating as though before a god.
From birth, a memory buried in his bloodline compelled him instinctively to worship—this was divinity itself.
“This domain… the Sovereign of Night! Truly, you have not disappointed me. A power worthy of the Progenitor of myth—this is the strength that rules the world.”
Herman activated his own royal bloodline to resist the urge to kneel, looking up at the “Progenitor” in the sky with a satisfied smile.
“With this power, we shall overturn the entire continent—and the vampire race will reign supreme above all!”
