Volume 6 Chapter 119
by Golden DragonVolume 6 + Chapter 119: The Branch of The World Tree
Right before his eyes, the Human Envoy watched the Holy Sword return to Heart Demon Xia Yi’s hand and form a contract with her once again. It was something he found utterly unacceptable.
Even his usually calm and measured tone became agitated.
“The Holy Sword should never have gone over to your side!”
“What, you dissatisfied?”
Heart Demon Xia Yi laughed.
“You really think you can dictate the Holy Sword’s choice?”
“Holy Sword Gram, return!”
The Human Envoy raised his hand. Just as Heart Demon Xia Yi had done moments ago, he attempted to summon the Holy Sword back to himself.
“She is not the wielder chosen by the Holy Sword. She has already abandoned her identity as a human and joined the camp of the dragons!”
Faced with his command, the Holy Sword did not react in the slightest. It remained quietly in Heart Demon Xia Yi’s grasp, as though it had already made its stance perfectly clear.
“Holy Sword!” the Human Envoy roared. “You are a weapon meant to protect mankind, not a toy serving the dragon race! Have you forgotten your duty? From the distant past until now, you have always borne the obligation to fight for humanity!”
“The duty to protect humanity? And who decided that?”
Every word from Heart Demon Xia Yi carried sharp, merciless hostility.
“Don’t tell me it was just the delusions of people like you, self-righteously moving yourselves and inventing fantasies in your own heads? How laughable. How absurd. Stupid to the extreme. The truth is right in front of your eyes, yet you refuse to believe it, insisting instead on imaginary rules you fabricated yourselves. Do you really think everyone in the world must obey you?”
“…Holy Sword, is this truly your choice?”
The Human Envoy slowly lowered his hand, disappointment filling his face.
“Are you done yet? You just keep rambling endlessly. Next, it’s time for me to settle the score.”
The instant her words fell, Heart Demon Xia Yi vanished from where she stood. In the next moment, she appeared directly before the Human Envoy, raising the Holy Sword in her hand.
His heart jolted in alarm. Though they were technically the same person, her speed had suddenly increased by a tremendous margin.
He had failed to read her movements in time.
Clang!
The Holy Sword collided against the weapon in the Human Envoy’s hand, and the clash of swordsmanship began.
After only three rapid exchanges, the Human Envoy had already fallen into a disadvantageous position.
“Your swordsmanship became stronger?”
He was utterly bewildered. How had her swordsmanship improved so drastically in such a short amount of time?
“I’m going to kill you.”
A naked killing intent surfaced within Heart Demon Xia Yi’s eyes. She swung the Holy Sword, pouring into it an unstoppable sword will as she slashed viciously toward him, the attack roaring forth like a raging storm.
The Human Envoy tried to block with the weapon in his hand, but it was shattered apart by the blazing golden sword aura.
A heavy sword scar was carved across the Human King Armor.
This time, it was the Human Envoy who was sent flying like a ball, tumbling across the ground several times before finally stopping.
When he rose to his feet once more, he discovered visible cracks spreading across the Human King Armor.
“You should thank that armor of yours for blocking the fatal damage,” Heart Demon Xia Yi said disdainfully. “But even if it can stop one strike, can it stop a second? A third?”
“The difference in weapon quality does indeed exist.”
The Human Envoy loosened his grip and let the broken weapon fall from his hand.
The Holy Sword Gram was unlike the Human King Armor. It was not a weapon that could be replicated. Even the humans of the Mythological Era, after exhausting all their efforts, had only managed to forge Balmung, an inferior substitute.
In the hands of the Holy Sword’s chosen wielder, the Holy Sword could unleash power beyond imagination.
“So, are you ready to admit defeat? I won’t give you the chance to surrender. I’ll drive the Holy Sword through your body and pierce your heart.” Heart Demon Xia Yi pointed the blade directly at him.
“Do not misunderstand, Silver Dragon. In front of me, you are the challenger.”
Despite being at a disadvantage, the Human Envoy showed no trace of panic. Instead, he declared this with complete confidence.
“You think possessing the Holy Sword means you can defeat me? Ridiculous fantasy. I don’t know why you suddenly became stronger, but you still haven’t reached the level where you can compare yourself to me.”
“Have you lost your mind? Which one of us was just smashed into the ground?”
Ignoring her mockery, the Human Envoy reached into the storage space within the Human King Armor and drew out an extremely bizarre weapon,
It was a tree branch.
He gripped the branch firmly, seemingly intending to use it as a weapon.
“…Are you joking with me?”
Heart Demon Xia Yi frowned.
After reaching the realm of Sword Saint, it was indeed possible to wield all sorts of unimaginable objects as weapons…
But that only applied when bullying weaker opponents.
In battles between true swordsmanship experts, the difference in weapon performance heavily influenced victory and defeat.
Just as before Xia Yi reclaimed the Holy Sword, she had struggled even to break through the Human King Armor’s defenses.
“Weapon, Release!”
The Human Envoy roared. Natural energy flooded the branch. Leaves unfurled, vibrant green life blossomed from it, and it seemed to transform into a living thing.
He rushed toward Heart Demon Xia Yi, raised the branch, and slashed down.
At that instant, her expression changed dramatically. She dared not be careless and chose to meet the attack seriously in a direct clash of blades.
“Ugh?!”
A violent impact numbed both of her hands, nearly causing her to lose grip on the Holy Sword.
The branch in the Human Envoy’s hand had actually suppressed the radiance of the Holy Sword?
“This is a branch of the World Tree. Her Majesty personally permitted me to take one branch from the World Tree as a weapon. Though it is not as powerful as the Holy Sword, the difference is not too great.”
“Tch…”
“To force me to reveal a trump card and fight seriously, you may take pride in that, Silver Dragon.”
The Human Envoy unleashed swordsmanship from the Mythological Era. An airtight web of blades descended upon Heart Demon Xia Yi, as though intending to sever all things in existence.
Heart Demon Xia Yi responded with transcendent swordsmanship of her own. However, in order to block those death-filled sword waves, she appeared increasingly battered, even suffering injuries.
“It is time to end this farce. Mimic Divine Authority of Humanity, ”
A divine halo flashed briefly behind the Human Envoy.
He activated the remaining energy within the Human King Armor and, just as before, shot toward the end of the heavens. Empowered by the branch of the World Tree, he unleashed his strongest annihilating strike.
“Heavenfall!”
“Holy Sword…”
Heart Demon Xia Yi was just about to release the Holy Sword’s energy and defend herself against the devastating blow with a golden torrent of sword aura.
Yet just as she began, she looked up at the descending meteor, and lowered her sword instead.
Defense could never defeat him. Seizing victory was what truly mattered.
Boom!!
Once again, a star crashed down upon Molent. In that instant, dazzling light engulfed the world, turning night into day. The eruption of brilliance lasted for nearly an entire minute before finally fading.
Not even ruins or debris remained of Molent City anymore. Only a gigantic crater from the explosion was left behind.
“You truly don’t know the meaning of fear. Facing my strongest strike, you didn’t even attempt to defend yourself. Did terror make you abandon the will to fight?”
After landing back on the ground, the Human Envoy looked at the heavily wounded Heart Demon Xia Yi before him.
The silver dragon girl’s aura had become weak. Dragon blood covered her entire body, wounds spread across her flesh, and she had already reached her limits. Surviving such a horrifying attack at all was practically a miracle.
“Abandon? Ridiculous…”
Heart Demon Xia Yi slowly opened her eyes. A faint silver glow shimmered within her pupils as the bloodline of the Silver Dragon Royal Family awakened, and the majesty of a Dragon King manifested upon her body.
“Are you done attacking?”
“What…?”
The Human Envoy suddenly realized something was wrong.
The reason Heart Demon Xia Yi had not defended herself with sword techniques earlier was not because she had resigned herself to death.
“Domain Descend!”
