Volume 4 Chapter 217
by Need_More_SleepVolume 4 + Chapter 217: The Royal Treasury
In the capital of the Holy Crimson Empire, within the Vampire Clan Imperial Palace.
“So annoying…”
Xia Yi muttered as she walked through the palace halls.
Out of the corner of her eye, she glanced behind her.
A group of palace maids had been tailing her ever since she left her room, following her every move.
Under Elizabeth’s orders, these maids were tasked with watching over Xia Yi, ensuring she didn’t wander off or cause trouble.
When Xia Yi stayed in her room, they stood guard outside the door and beneath the windows.
The moment she stepped out, they followed.
Today, after finishing her meal, Xia Yi had made an excuse, saying she wanted to stroll around the palace.
The maids didn’t refuse but instead shadowed her closely, making sure she never left their sight.
“Could you please stop following me!”
Xia Yi turned around and complained to them.
“Having you trail me like this makes me so uncomfortable!”
“Your Highness, the Consort-to-be, we are only acting in your best interests,” a maid replied. “The imperial palace is vast. If we allowed you to wander alone, you might easily get lost or even face danger. We must ensure your safety.”
“Don’t worry about that. If I get lost, I can just ask someone for directions!”
“Apologies, but protecting you is also the Divine Ancestor’s command. We cannot disobey.” The maid used Elizabeth’s authority to shut down the argument.
Xia Yi was at a loss for words.
Truthfully, she wasn’t interested in sightseeing. With her wedding to Elizabeth approaching, she was planning to escape.
Her original intention was to familiarize herself with the palace layout so that, with Aila’s assistance, she could make a swift exit.
But these past few days, under the constant surveillance of the maids, she hadn’t been able to take any action.
Previously, Xia Yi had tried to subtly probe for information, asking if she could see a map of the palace.
Their reply was consistent, once she married Elizabeth and became the official consort, she would naturally have the right to access such information, but not before the wedding.
Now, she couldn’t even explore the palace on her own. It was a frustrating dilemma.
“Huh? What’s this place?”
Xia Yi stopped before an opulent palace building.
At its entrance stood numerous blood elf guards, their vigilance unmistakable.
“Your Highness, it would be best not to approach that area…”
A maid softly cautioned.
Oh?
The very place you forbid me to go is exactly where I want to be!
With that thought, Xia Yi strode toward the palace, ignoring the others’ warnings.
The stern guards crossed their weapons, blocking her path.
“Unauthorized persons are not permitted near the Royal Treasury! Retreat at once!”
“Open your eyes wide and see who I am!”
Xia Yi placed her hands on her hips, leveraging her status.
“I am the future consort of the Vampire Clan’s Divine Ancestor, soon to marry Elizabeth! How dare you call me ‘unauthorized’? Have you grown tired of living?!”
“Uh… Well…”
The guards faltered.
Everyone knew Xia Yi was to marry the Divine Ancestor tomorrow, her status was exceedingly noble.
Even as Royal Treasury guards, they couldn’t afford to offend her.
“What are you waiting for? Must I report this to Elizabeth and have your heads removed?!” Xia Yi’s tone was pressing and imperious.
Left with no choice, the guards reluctantly withdrew their weapons, shooting a glance toward the maids as if seeking guidance.
The maids understood, one of them quietly slipped away.
“Our deepest apologies, Your Highness. We hope you will not hold this against us. We were merely fulfilling our duties… Please, proceed!”
The guards allowed Xia Yi to pass.
“Hmph!”
Xia Yi swaggered inside.
As the guards had indicated, this was indeed the Royal Treasury of the Vampire Clan, filled with dazzling treasures.
Priceless artworks, rare magical gems, legendary weapons and armor from tales of old…
“The Vampire Clan has quite a collection of fine treasures… Hmm? What’s this?”
The silver-haired young girl paused before a display platform, where a sword hovered, enveloped in a soft blue glow as if submerged in a tranquil lake.
As a Sword Saint, Xia Yi recognized it from the records of legendary weapons.
“Aroundight, the Unblemished Lake Light!”
This was a weapon of legend, once entrusted to a human by the Lady of the Lake. Inscribed with runes of the lake spirits, it was said to possess an indestructible nature.
The human who wielded this blade had left numerous legendary tales in history.
Unfortunately, due to the wielder’s fall from grace, the sword had vanished from records, only to resurface here, claimed by the Vampire Clan.
“What a beautiful weapon…”
Xia Yi gazed at it with admiration, reaching out to touch the blade.
But at that moment, the holy sword sigil on the back of her hand glowed, accompanied by a faint, stinging sensation.
“Old friend?!”
The sigil flickered, Gram was expressing clear displeasure at Xia Yi’s actions, an emotion it had never shown before.
It seemed to say:
“You’re praising another sword for its beauty?!”
Seeing this, Xia Yi understood, it was jealousy!
The young princess withdrew her hand and gently soothed her old companion.
“Not at all, Gram. In terms of beauty, you are far more exquisite.”
The holy sword sigil flashed twice.
“It’s true! Whether in appearance, performance, or legendary feats, Gram outshines all. In my eyes, Gram is the strongest holy sword in the world!” Xia Yi declared earnestly. “Only Gram is the perfect holy sword for me, there is no other!”
The holy sword seemed satisfied, its sigil dimming as it settled down.
Xia Yi glanced at Aroundight with a hint of resignation, observing it for a moment longer before moving on.
She wandered to the next display, continuing to admire the treasures.
An ordinary person might have been driven to reckless acts by greed at the sight of such wealth.
But Xia Yi’s thoughts took a different turn, giving rise to a bold idea.
“What if… I blew this place up?”
