Volume 6 + Chapter 114: The Identity of The Human Envoy

Xia Yi arrived at the armory.

She saw a swordsman clad in golden armor, and before him lay the corpses of Lian Lian and her father.

Even though Xia Yi had only met the father and daughter once, and had known them for less than a few hours,

She still remembered the promise she had made with Lian Lian.

They were supposed to meet again at the armory.

Yet in the end… this was the outcome.

“What did you do?” Xia Yi asked.

Hearing her voice, the armored swordsman slowly turned around, seemingly somewhat surprised.

    “……A Silver Dragon?”

    “You are…?”

The moment Xia Yi clearly saw the armor, shock flooded her face.

Inside Laurel Tree Academy, she had obtained the exclusive equipment of the Human King from the Mythic Era, the Human King Armor.

Whenever necessary, she could activate the armor using the Golden Key and enter a possession state.

Logically speaking, there should only exist one set of Human King Armor in this world. According to the history recorded by the World Tree, humanity had never succeeded in creating a second set.

Yet the armor worn by the swordsman before her was almost completely identical to the Human King Armor.

    There was no difference whatsoever.

“Why do you have the Human King Armor?!”

“Do you actually recognize the Human King Armor?”

    “Of course I do!”

Suddenly, Xia Yi recalled several horrifying details she had previously overlooked.

Just a few days ago, Xia Yi had used the Human King Armor to disguise herself, appearing before Kennedy under the identity of the “Justice Bringer.”

At the time, Kennedy, the Lord of Molent, had mistaken her for someone else.

One of the Three Envoys: the Human Envoy.

The mysterious person before her… must be the Human Envoy.

The Human Envoy possessed terrifying power capable of destroying an entire city at will, wore the Human King Armor, and was also a swordsman,

All those clues combined made Xia Yi recall the history she had witnessed inside the Small World Tree.

“Human Envoy… could it be that you are actually the Human King?”

    “……”

    The Human Envoy fell silent.

He too seemed surprised by Xia Yi’s deduction.

Yet he did not deny her words.

“Silver Dragon, it seems you know quite a few secrets. You really are different from the others.”

“The Human Envoy’s true identity is actually… the Human King? This is absurd.”

For a moment, Xia Yi did not even know what to say.

She remembered that piece of history clearly.

Back in the Mythic Era, the Dragon King of the dragon race had agreed to a one-on-one duel with the Human King. Yet the Dragon King betrayed that agreement, using underhanded schemes to infect the Human King and transform him into a half-dragon monster.

The Human King was imprisoned within the Dragon Kingdom, unable to pass down divine authority, which ultimately led humanity into decline.

So why had the long-dead Human King appeared here?

Why had he become the Human Envoy?

And whom was the Human King serving now?

“Why did you kill Lian Lian and her father?”

Xia Yi’s thoughts were thrown into chaos by countless questions, yet this was still what she most wanted to know.

“And the others as well. If you really are the Human King, why would you slaughter your own people?”

“Silver Dragon, it seems you know of the Human King’s past.”

The Human Envoy’s voice carried almost no emotion.

“But my actions now have nothing to do with the Human King of the past. I am merely the Queen’s Envoy, fulfilling my duty and cleansing all errors.”

    “Errors?”

“That’s right. You saw it yourself, didn’t you?”

The Human Envoy spread his arms wide.

Behind him stretched a sea of flames and countless corpses.

“The people of Molent transformed into Calamity Beasts. Calamity Beasts infect everyone they touch. This is not the operational state the Queen desires. It is an error. My duty is to excise the errors here and ensure that all development proceeds according to the Queen’s expectations.”

“Just because some people were infected, everyone else deserves to die?” Xia Yi could not comprehend it at all. “What kind of absurd and extreme logic is that?”

“These people were never qualified to be selected. That is all.”

The Human Envoy’s gaze remained utterly indifferent.

“In your eyes, they are living beings, unique individuals, each with their own existence. But in my eyes, they are merely data created by the Queen through the Anti-World Tree for testing and experimentation.”

The Human Envoy lifted his foot and stepped toward Lian Lian’s body.

    “Stop right there!”

Using Chant Restraint, Xia Yi instantly unleashed an Ice Arrow, firing it toward the Human Envoy at incredible speed.

    Clang!

    The golden armor flashed.

A transparent golden barrier blocked Xia Yi’s spell.

It was the defensive function of the Human King Armor, the very same ability Xia Yi herself possessed.

When the Human Envoy stepped onto Lian Lian’s body, the innocent little girl shattered into particles and dispersed into nothingness.

Xia Yi had never witnessed such an unnatural form of death before.

Living beings were not supposed to die like this.

“Silver Dragon, do you see now?”

The Human Envoy’s tone remained completely emotionless.

“The moment calamity appears in a place, it means the risk of infection already exists. Every single person here is a potential infected host. The only difference is how long it takes before they transform into Calamity Beasts. Fundamentally, there is no difference between them. In the future, they are all doomed to become worthless corrupted data.”

“……This isn’t truly the Mythic Era, is it? It’s the original era recreated upon this land through some unknown means… correct?”

    “Your comprehension is not bad.”

    “What exactly are you planning?”

“I have no obligation to answer all your questions, Silver Dragon. I merely wished for you to understand the reality of the situation.”

The Human Envoy raised his sword and wiped the blood from its blade with his armored hand.

“I can tell that you are an outsider who invaded from the external world. You should never have crossed the barrier established by the Queen, nor should you exist here.”

    “Who is the Queen?”

    “A word of advice.”

The Human Envoy issued his warning coldly.

“Go back to wherever you came from. My duties do not include expelling intruders, only eliminating errors. Do not interfere with my work.”

At that moment, Xia Yi could already sense that the other side had no intention of communicating any further.

Even if she left Molent, the Human Envoy would not stop her.

But no matter the circumstances, there was only one emotion left in her heart,

    Anger.

Whether or not Lian Lian and her father were “normal lives” no longer mattered.

They were still people who had spoken with her, made promises with her.

How could Xia Yi remain indifferent after watching them be killed?

Besides, she had no intention whatsoever of obeying the Human Envoy’s orders.

“And what if… I refuse?” Xia Yi said coldly.

Her answer did not surprise the Human Envoy in the slightest.

Perhaps he had predicted this from the very beginning, that was why he had already wiped the blood from his sword in advance.

The Human Envoy gripped his sword tightly and pointed its razor-sharp tip toward Xia Yi.

    “I will destroy everything here.”

    “And that includes you.”
