Volume 6 Chapter 115
by Golden DragonVolume 6 + Chapter 115: The User of The Human King Armor
“Don’t get ahead of yourself with all that talk!”
Xia Yi raised her hand and summoned the Rose Staff.
Using her Chant Suppression ability, she followed her usual combat style and opened with Fireball as a probing attack.
“Meaningless magical attacks.”
The Human Envoy did not even move. He simply activated the anti-magic field of the Human King Armor.
The blazing fireballs slammed into the barrier, just like the previous flame arrows, causing visible ripples to spread across its surface.
It was almost exactly as Xia Yi had predicted. The Human King Armor’s magical defense field was not absolute invincibility. If the power of a spell reached a sufficient level, it could still pierce through the barrier.
“Moon-Chasing Slash.”
The Human Envoy swung the longsword in his hand, unleashing several crescent-shaped sword waves in succession. They tore through the air with terrifying speed as they slashed toward Xia Yi.
“Frost Magic Shield!”
The instant Xia Yi raised her hand, defensive magic shields materialized around her body. To be safe, she layered several of them together.
By coincidence, or perhaps precise calculation, each layer of the Frost Shield canceled out exactly one crescent sword wave, successfully neutralizing the Human Envoy’s sword technique.
Neither of them immediately fought with full strength. They were merely testing each other first.
“You can cast magic without chanting… that must be the bloodline of the Silver Dragon Royal Clan, correct?” the Human Envoy commented. “It certainly looks impressive. But in reality, magic cast without chanting suffers greatly in both power and effect. If you intend to defeat me with such magic, then you are indulging in fantasy.”
“Don’t underestimate mages. The Human King Armor’s magic field isn’t invincible either. As long as I increase the power of my spells, I can break through it and injure you! At worst, I’ll weave draconic runic incantations into my magic to amplify its might. Let’s see how you deal with that!”
“Do not attempt to mislead me with words and tactics, Silver Dragon. You are not purely a mage. Your combat stance, the rhythm of your breathing, your reactions… all of it reveals that you are a martial fighter, more likely, a swordsman. You want me to lower my guard, allow you into close range, and expose an opening, correct?”
“…”
Xia Yi did not deny his words.
In unfamiliar battles, she rarely revealed her swordsmanship immediately. She preferred to fight with magic first, lulling opponents into carelessness before suddenly switching to swordplay for a decisive counterattack. It was one of her most commonly used combat strategies.
Yet the Human Envoy had seen through her intentions simply through observing tiny details.
“So then, what do you plan to do?” Xia Yi asked. “If you refuse to close the distance, then I’ll just keep attacking with magic.”
“In my eyes, these are merely childish tricks. They hold no meaning in the battles of the Mythic Age.”
The moment the Human Envoy finished speaking, he vanished.
Xia Yi was startled. How had he disappeared from her sight without the slightest warning?
Had he used some sort of concealment technique…
No.
He had not vanished.
She could hear footsteps striking the ground, rapidly drawing closer.
The Human Envoy was moving with a body technique far beyond ordinary limits. His speed had already surpassed what her eyes could track.
Instinct screamed danger at Xia Yi.
She swung the Rose Staff toward the front while simultaneously infusing it with draconic power.
It was a near-suicidal prediction. If her attack missed, she would never have enough time to recover her weapon.
Clang!
The Human Envoy’s blade collided directly against the Rose Staff.
Xia Yi’s prediction had been correct. She successfully blocked the strike.
Had she hesitated for even a moment and failed to use dragon power, that slash might have cut straight through both the Rose Staff and her dragon-scale armor together.
“Excellent. You blocked that strike. But what about the next one?”
The Human Envoy calmly threw out those words before erupting with overwhelming sword intent. He blasted Xia Yi backward, pressed forward instantly, and swung another sword strike directly toward her heart.
I’ll die.
Those two words surfaced in Xia Yi’s mind.
The Human Envoy’s swordsmanship exceeded her imagination.
Back at Laurel Tree Academy, the miniature World Tree had once created a treant guardian modeled after the Human King. Even that imitation’s swordsmanship had already been troublesome enough for Xia Yi.
But the Human Envoy’s swordsmanship had completely surpassed that treant guardian. It had truly reached the level of the Human King himself.
There was no time left to cast magic.
The defensive power of Frost Shields cast through Chant Suppression was insufficient. This sword strike would pierce through her dragon-scale armor, penetrate her dragon heart, and take her life.
If she wanted to survive, there was only one method left.
“Human King Armor, activate!”
The golden key hanging from Xia Yi’s body burst forth with dazzling radiance. Her intense will was received by the Human King Armor, which immediately activated and attached itself to her body.
At the moment of activation, the Human King Armor automatically released a defensive field capable of blocking attacks.
The Human Envoy’s sword struck the armor directly. The explosion of sword energy broke through the activation barrier and dealt Xia Yi a crushing blow, sending her flying backward.
Boom!
Xia Yi was blasted far away and smashed into the wall of a defensive tower within the armory. The building instantly collapsed into ruins from the impact.
“Cough… cough…”
Her head spun violently, but she still managed to crawl out from the rubble and force herself upright.
Fortunately, the transformation barrier had absorbed much of the damage, preventing serious injury.
Now, the same golden armor worn by the Human Envoy had completely enveloped her body.
“This is…?”
The Human Envoy stared at the nearly identical Human King Armor mirrored on Xia Yi’s body, visibly surprised.
“No wonder you understood so much. So you possess the Human King Armor as well.”
Two golden swordsmen clad in full-body armor stood facing each other.
It was truly an extraordinarily rare sight.
“Aren’t you a dragon?” the Human Envoy asked curiously. “Why are you capable of using the Human King Armor?”
“You want to know?”
“What exactly is the reason?”
“I’m not telling you,” Xia Yi said with a grin. “I have no obligation to answer your questions.”
“…”
For a moment, the Human Envoy fell silent.
After all, he himself had used that exact excuse against Xia Yi earlier. Who could have expected karma to return so quickly?
“What’s wrong? Shocked, speechless, Human Envoy?” Xia Yi asked.
“It is merely a slight surprise. It would seem humanity of this era failed to preserve the glory of the Mythic Age and declined into ruin. That must be why the Human King Armor fell into the hands of another race.”
The Human Envoy’s attitude toward Xia Yi shifted slightly. The disdain he previously carried was no longer as obvious.
“Silver Dragon, you have made a mistake.”
“What mistake?”
“You believe that obtaining the Human King Armor can change the situation. But in reality, the result of this battle was decided from the very beginning.”
He tightened his grip on the sword.
“You… cannot defeat me.”
