Chapter 127: That’s It, You Are the Final Piece of the Puzzle!

Archie said, “It’s time for you to show your skills, my Ace Pilot!”
Grand Engineer Lant also looked at Louis with great expectation, and his assistant then brought over a set of clothes and a large, can-like glass helmet.
The corner of Louis’s mouth twitched. “Do I have to wear this?”
Several nearby Ace Pilots crossed their arms and looked over proudly. A small Yordle even scratched his crotch—how can you pilot a damn plane without even wearing the suit!
“Of course!” the Grand Engineer shrieked. “It’s cool this way!”
“Alright…” Louis looked conflicted at that ugly punk bodysuit and that ugly punk diving-style glass helmet.
Looks like the helmet is a must, huh?
Probably the cockpit has something special about it.
With a sigh, Louis picked up the helmet. Just as he was about to put that silly helmet on, he saw the Ace Pilot inside the Son of Lant take off the helmet and wipe away sweat—it was too hot.
Clearly, this thing didn’t actually need to be worn, and the suit wasn’t necessary either—but as the Yordles and Goblins said, it was cool.
“To hell with this!” Louis reached out and threw that stupid helmet to the ground.
Then, amidst the engineers’ noisy screams and cries, he pushed aside several engineers who insisted on putting the helmet on him. He stretched out his hand and beckoned to the Son of Lant. Immediately, the Son of Lant spun a few times with an extremely agile movement and then began to dance wildly, spinning the little Yordle pilot inside until he was dizzy.
When the pilot finally adjusted to the dizziness, he found Louis beside him.
“Resonance! He resonated with the Son of Lant!” the engineers shouted. “He can merge with the Son of Lant!”
The many Ace Pilots were also stunned. “Could it be… could it be that he is the missing piece that the Human Completion Project has always lacked!”
“Hurry and merge! Hurry and merge!”
“Watch this!”
“Complete your sister! Stop insulting my EVA!”
Louis cursed loudly. Then, to the shock of the pilot beside him, he reached out, snatched the game controller from the pilot’s hand, and threw it to the ground. “From now on, when you get into the mech, no more bodysuits! No more closing your eyes and holding your arms straight out! Got it? And! No scratching your JJ!”
Under Louis’s fierce glare, the little Yordle pilot nodded in fear. Then the pilot saw seventeen or eighteen magic circles suddenly appear on the Son of Lant’s Crystal Array.
Following the information from the memory crystal, Louis reached out and adjusted those magic circles, then altered some runes. He changed all the mana supply for the Son of Lant.
Then, he called up two energy magic circles specifically for supplying mana and stretched his hands into them. Immediately, a narration appeared before Louis’s eyes.
[You resonated with the Son of Lant…]
[You merged with the Son of Lant…]
[Your Mana increased by 500+]
[Louis]
[Mana: 570+]
[Magic Power: 5700+]
‘With this much mana, even a brick could fly! Who needs a damn thruster!’
Louis wiggled his fingers and began to operate this big doll. A powerful mana fluctuation surged from the Crystal Array, and then a burst of electricity suddenly flashed around the Son of Lant’s body. The huge punk mech slowly rose from the ground.
Then, the electricity intensified sharply. The Son of Lant was shot out as if by an invisible electromagnetic cannon, streaking into the sky above the sea.
Watching that big guy finally fly towards the clouds at a speed close to that of a biplane glider, the engineers were all dumbfounded—what was this?
Was this the Son of Lant?
And why wasn’t the smokestack belching black smoke and steam?
The many Yordle and Goblin little wizards also looked confused. Even Yingling, who had the highest magic level currently, craned her neck—what kind of magic was this?
“Screw that big lizard! I told you, he’s the only Wizard in the whole world who can pilot this thing!” Archie yelled, cigarette in his mouth, pointing at the departing Son of Lant in the sky. “What are you all standing around for? Quickly activate the base’s anti-air facilities! Fire at it—no more talk, fire now! He’s invincible right now!”
Louis kept accelerating the big guy using the magnetic field. Finally, with a bang, it broke the sound barrier and shot up into the clouds!
The powerful propulsion slammed the Yordle pilot back into his seat, leaving him completely bewildered—he remembered this thing could only fly a few dozen meters high at most.
But before he could say anything, he saw the coastal gun emplacements all aiming this way, with streaks of fire shooting towards them. Terrified, he quickly picked up the controller from the floor, wanting to press the button labeled ‘Protective Charm’.
But before he could straighten up, he saw the Son of Lant, under Louis’s control, make several sharp-angled turns without slowing down—the trajectory was like a water droplet. It instantly dodged all the barrage and then suddenly charged towards the sea surface at an extremely high speed, flying just above the water, heading for those ship targets.
At that moment, colorful bubbles suddenly rose from the sea around the ship targets, floating towards the Son of Lant.
Staring at those bubbles, Louis blinked hard and suddenly understood why the Wizards were so stunned after the military parade back then—the Muggles had used machines to cast magic!
These Yordle engineers were simply geniuses!
He didn’t pause his movements. In an instant, he dodged the many colorful bubbles, raised the cannon barrel, and fired dozens of consecutive shots at the ship target—all hit. In no time, a distant ship target was sunk.
But before he could fire a second round of shots at the second ship target, he felt the back cannon barrels heating up. One cannon barrel even blew up.
Louis hovered in the distance from the second ship target, dodging water cannonballs while swaying left and right. He lifted the Son of Lant’s arm, and the Fire God gun rapidly spun, unleashing a long stream of fire.
Amidst the rat-a-tat-tat barrage, wood from the second ship target continuously flew into the air. Soon, it was riddled with holes. The deck no longer looked like its original self. Even the sails were shot away.
The large circular saw on the Son of Lant’s arm suddenly spun rapidly amid a surge of electricity. Dodging the bubbles shot from around the ship target at a bizarre angle, it shot towards the ship target in a blink, cutting it in half.
By the time the large circular saw passed through the ship target, the Adamantine large circular saw was glowing red-hot, and the ship burst into raging flames—even a Fire Dragon would probably be cut in two by now.
Then, the large circular saw flew back along a bizarre triangular trajectory and was caught by the Son of Lant’s outstretched hand.
The Yordle pilot dully looked up at Louis. “Th-this is the Son of Lant?”
“No.” Louis picked up a cigar, took a puff, and said, “It’s called EVA.”
…
Yingling smoked her pipe, looking at the replay of the battle in the Crystal Ball in Archie’s hand. She couldn’t help but twitch the corner of her mouth.
“So cool!” Lilith’s eyes sparkled like little stars as she screamed wildly. “Ace Pilot!”
By this time, Louis had already piloted the Son of Lant back to the base. The Yordles and Goblins cheered excitedly.
The giant mech landed with a crash. With a series of creak sounds from all its joints, a huge cloud of steam billowed out. For a moment, the base was filled with mist, and the gigantic Son of Lant looked as if it were standing atop clouds.
Then, with a rattling noise, all its various parts came loose and fell apart—many of the cannons on its arms and back actually dropped off.
[B. [I Bet on the Wizard!] (1/3)]
[You seem to have destroyed a Son of Lant in another way.]
Louis was dumbfounded.
Oh no, oh no, this is bad.
Louis, oh Louis, why do you love showing off so much!
I said I shouldn’t pilot this thing!
I said this thing was a setup!
Now I’ve been set up, haven’t I?
How much is this going to cost!
Louis grabbed the little Yordle pilot by the collar and teleported back to the ground.
“Ahem, can this thing still be repaired?” Louis asked somewhat awkwardly, looking at Grand Engineer Lant.
“Don’t worry.” The Yordle Engineers took out small notebooks, calmly recording data as they spoke nonchalantly. “It falls apart all the time.”
“???”
Falls apart all the time? What does ‘all the time’ mean?
Does this thing really fall apart all the time?!
How can I not worry? I’m the pilot!
“Hey~ don’t worry, it’s fine, Louis.” Grand Engineer Lant comforted him. “No need to worry. It didn’t catch fire today. It’ll be repaired soon.”
Louis looked up at the now-disassembled Son of Lant, his jaw dropping—c-catch fire?
This really is a setup plan, isn’t it!
“That’s it, Louis! Our Ace Pilot!” The engineers all gave thumbs up and said, “You are the final piece of our grand plan’s puzzle!”
