    Chapter 109: Boss

“Who are you calling boss? Who?”

After slapping his subordinate into submission, the Inspector frowned at Louis and Helen, then looked at the few Muggle wild wizards beside Louis.

Seeing how close Louis was with these Mages, the Inspector’s expression immediately changed.

This was blatantly breaking the rules!

Not just breaking the rules, but rubbing it in our faces!

The Agents exchanged glances. Some were already holding their wands, ready to cast Obliviate on the ‘Muggles’ in the hall.

The Inspector even jumped onto a table. With an unfriendly look, he lifted his trench coat and placed his hands on his hips, revealing the shiny magical shackles on his belt.

He looked at Louis and Helen and said, “You’re students from Sacred Oak? How dare you come here? Do you know this violates the Wizard Law… ahem, violates the Sanctum’s discipline?”

Helen stuck out her tongue and stayed quiet—she had forgotten she was an Agent herself.

Louis furrowed his brow. He glanced at the Agent’s cloak, sensing his work pass—Ministry of Magic ‘Judicial Enforcement Division’, Jerry, White 67, No Pattern.

This was a numbered senior Inspector, and an Agent within the top 100 ranks. This was a proper senior Inspector—definitely capable, not just in combat experience and skill level. Compared to that well-connected guy Kevin, this little Inspector Jerry was the real deal. This Inspector, along with the two old-timers in the team, could lead these eight people to handle some real business.

There were rumors that powerful wizards often emerged among Yordles. It seemed the rumors were true.

But unfortunately, Yordles in the Ministry of Magic didn’t seem to have powerful backers. This kept Yordle Agents’ positions generally low. The two strongest old-timers didn’t even have numbers—they seemed most familiar with Cardi, probably having stayed in the Association before.

“Ol… ahem.” The young Yordle generation grabbed Inspector Jerry’s sleeve. “Boss, these are our friends. Please make an exception—(looking at Louis, whispering) Hurry up and salute.”

It seemed this little Yordle had indeed started his internship in the Discipline Department.

Louis nodded. He looked at the fierce little Inspector standing on the table, fished in his pocket, and tossed his own work pass, stamped all over with the Three of Hearts, onto the table. Then he smiled.

“What a coincidence. I’m here for an inspection too.”

The Yordle Agents craned their necks, staring at the work pass for a long time. They blinked hard.

Seeing this work pass, Helen suddenly remembered she was an Agent too—and Louis seemed to be her boss.

She put her hands on her hips and said loudly, “Why aren’t you calling him boss!”

Inspector Jerry and the others seemed to snap out of it. They quickly saluted Louis and said in unison, “Bos… Sir!”

“Let’s go upstairs.” Louis patted the Inspector’s head.

The second floor was a relatively quiet place within the Magic Enthusiasts Association. It looked a bit like a small salon, with many bookshelves, guest seats, many artworks, and various trophies collected by Mages.

Many Mages were here and seemed very familiar with Agent Jerry and his crew. Louis asked and found out these youngsters, who just put on an act, were actually more familiar with the Mage Association people than he was. One of the older, experienced Agents used to be a member of the Mage Association!

He had handled major events with that ‘Cardi’ who dressed like a Necromancer. They were comrades-in-arms who had been through life and death. Among those specimens, two items were things the old-timers had brought back with the Mages before.

Louis vaguely understood—this group of Agents were actually Reformists.

Kate and Helen were very curious about these things, so Ron and others took them for a tour, explaining those magical creatures along the way.

However, Ron and the others noticed numbly that Helen seemed to have seen all these kinds of specimens. Even though Helen couldn’t defeat these creatures, she seemed to recognize almost all magical creatures and knew many obscure, lesser-known facts about them.

Many Mages hurriedly took out notebooks and pens, asking this little girl for advice. Helen almost put her hands on her hips and laughed triumphantly three times, happily playing the little teacher.

Shaking his head, Louis sat with the Agents in the guest seat area. Since they needed to discuss private matters, they cast a silencing charm, isolating their table.

The little Yordles enthusiastically served tea to their superior. While buttering him up, they began introducing themselves.

After the introductions, Louis was surprised to find that the little Yordle campus bully was actually Inspector Jerry’s younger brother—though even Inspector Jerry couldn’t afford to offend Daniel from the Red Queen Family.

Usually, their relatives often suffered bullying from the Fox troublemakers at the academy but had to swallow their pride. Hearing from his brother that Louis had been backing up the little Yordles at the academy, their bond grew closer.

In Inspector Jerry’s eyes, his brother’s calling Louis ‘boss’ was absolutely right—even though that newspaper report was a bit far-fetched, the Agents knew the one-versus-forty-plus event was true. It was said their own group of eight couldn’t handle those guys.

It was said that in the eyes of many Deans, Mr. Louis was already a quasi-Archmage—someone qualified to be their teacher.

At this age… this was almost like Her Majesty Frankischko back in the day!

Once this identity was confirmed, when they served Louis tea again, they were already treating him like a professor, completely different from their initial meeting.

Noticing Louis was always smiling, the lively Yordles also became more lively. They almost completely opened up.

The Agents asked Louis about his reason for coming to Englen City. Louis mentioned a few things about Crowley Manor.

The Agents’ expressions changed again. Though for certain reasons, the Ministry of Magic had never officially assigned a case for this matter, so few knew about it. But the old-timers who had been in the Mage Association had heard of that manor. They knew it wasn’t simple. It was something even a Harold hadn’t fully resolved. Unexpectedly, Louis had handled it this time with three Mages and a few Divine Officials.

The Agents’ minds were a bit blown. Now, when someone poured tea for Louis, they were already calling him ‘boss’—this was a real big shot. Not only was his knowledge like Her Majesty Frankischko’s when she first graduated, but the big things he did were also the same.

After chatting for a while, Louis felt they had pretty much opened up. He directly got to the point and asked them what mission they were here to execute. It seemed like they were planning to stay at the Mage Association long-term.

Mentioning this, the little Yordles who were just happily laughing suddenly looked strangely at Inspector Jerry. It seemed this matter had confidentiality.

“Nothing that can’t be said.” Inspector Jerry said with his hands on his hips. But his small eyes shifted—not only was the clearance level of the Mysterious Retirement Office very high itself, but there were also a few former super Agents who were once the mysterious flower card ‘2’. So Louis could easily ask his office colleagues about this later.

Therefore, why be the bad guy here and make people dislike you? It was better to just say it openly and generously. They might even need his help during this period.

So Inspector Jerry’s words were straightforward. However, when talking about this, his tone couldn’t help but become more solemn. “Sir, according to the Magic Council’s proposal, wizards entering Muggles’ magic enthusiast organizations is not allowed—the proposal never changed. But recently, things are special. Because during the King’s birthday celebration, there’s a major event.”

[Just as you guessed, this autumn was an eventful one.]

    [Everything stemmed from Frankischko’s death…]

In Inspector Jerry’s account and the Narration from the Storybook’s supplement, Louis understood the situation.

Ever since Queen Frankischko died many years ago, the grieving King seemed to gradually become aware of wizards’ existence. He also understood these people were the culprits.

A near-war almost broke out between Muggles and Wizards. Many kingdoms and wizard duchies in the world got involved.

However, things began evolving in a strange direction.
