Chapter 122: Which Powerful Figure Are You Clinging To?
by WuWangChapter 122: Which Powerful Figure Are You Clinging To?
After dealing with the misbehaving Helen, Yingling narrowed her eyes and looked at Louis, who was cranking the car in front, cursing him in her heart.
‘That dead girl Lilith, has she gotten together with Louis?! Why is she so careless? I told you to cling to a powerful figure, but which one are you clinging to?! Just wait, I’ll break you two up tonight!’
After cursing in her heart for a while, Yingling leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes, but she kept sensing a familiar smell. It filled her with fear. She couldn’t help but wear a strange expression and sniffed around the car for a long time.
Louis had finished cranking the car by now. After getting into the driver’s seat, he saw this vixen sniffing all over the car and felt rather odd.
‘I didn’t mess around in the car, what is her little dog nose smelling?’
Seeing Yingling glaring at him, Louis chuckled inwardly. He decided to see what she would do and didn’t plan to call her out.
He glanced in the rearview mirror at Ocris and the others chatting happily, and at Lilith who kept winking at him, then started the vehicle.
Soon, Yingling and Helen joined the conversation in the back. Yingling was very good at chatting, and within a few sentences, the atmosphere became lively. All the little awkwardness from their first meeting disappeared.
Especially Kate of the Crowley Family, whom Yingling paid special attention to, clearly wanting to befriend this supporter of Ocris.
She even teased Kate a bit, asking if she wanted to marry into the Fox family. She was thinking of strengthening their relationship and also introducing some Reformist Witches and Wizards — this Crowley would be a supporter of Ocris in the future, nothing bad could happen to her. If she could join the Wizard clan, many things would become much easier.
Kate politely declined, saying she lived alone.
Yingling frowned and couldn’t help but glance at Louis again.
Ocris was touched. ‘She’s really thoughtful. It seems Kate and her husband truly loved each other. I wish I could have such a sincere love in the future.’
Her Highness the Princess began to fantasize about the Prince who would be utterly loyal to her.
“Ahem, teacher.” The corner of Louis’s eye twitched violently; he couldn’t listen anymore. “Do you plan to return to the palace today, or stay a while longer?”
“Let’s go to the hotel first, and return to the palace later.”
Soon, everyone checked into the hotel. It was around eight o’clock.
After putting away their luggage, Ocris and Yingling found the environment quite nice. Thinking Kate had arranged it, they felt warm inside — she had really put in a lot of thought. This suite was state-guest level.
Previously, when Ocris and the others spoke with Kate, they knew Kate had booked several rooms at the hotel. But they didn’t know Archie had upgraded them and paid for a year. And Helen, who had clearly had a bit too much fun yesterday, forgot to report that Louis had beaten up Alon.
So, when they went to the restaurant, they found many fierce-looking members of the Dragon Clan having breakfast, and their expressions turned a bit strange — quite a few people even saluted towards them. Had they been recognized?
The performers in the restaurant also looked a bit strange — when were these big shots from Stogg going to leave? Were they using this place as their headquarters?
During breakfast, Kate asked about Ocris’s plans. Learning she hadn’t decided yet, Kate thought for a moment and said, “That works out perfectly then. Yesterday, I was just discussing with friends about holding a banquet for you. And today, there happens to be an art salon and charity auction by the great painter Sir Barlow. They are probably all going. Many nobles will attend. People from the Barriff Family will also be there. Everyone is looking forward to seeing you.”
Ocris’s eyes lit up. There were many powerful figures in Englen City, but the ones she could truly get to know now were the Barriffs.
She couldn’t help but glance at Louis and fake a cough. Seeing Louis was only busy cutting steak for Helen and hadn’t noticed her, Ocris kicked Louis under the table — meaning Louis should accompany her to show support and introduce her to the Barriff Family members.
But when Louis looked over, she pretended to be engrossed in chatting with Kate about the salon.
“I won’t go. The clan leaders probably haven’t arrived yet recently, and I don’t know any of those attending,” Louis said, wiping his hands. “You all go and relax. Don’t worry too much about those Barriffs. The ones going today are likely minor figures.”
Hearing Louis’s words, Ocris couldn’t help but roll her eyes — quit bragging! Acting like anyone you don’t know is a minor figure!
Finding Ocris kicking him again, Louis frowned. He then realized that foot was actually resting on his stool. And it was teasing him.
His mouth fell open in surprise, suddenly thinking it might be Kate. But he noticed everyone was busy except Yingling, who was smoking lightly and squinting at him.
He felt it and looked down. It was flesh-colored stockings. Kate wasn’t wearing those today.
Ocris, Yingling, and Lilith were all wearing that color today.
It couldn’t be the first two.
After listening to their thoughts, he realized it was Lilith. Louis wiped cold sweat from his brow — Lilith was pretending to eat obediently, and he hadn’t noticed.
‘But I don’t have time to play with you today. Though taking you to see the world is fine.’
The eye contact between Louis and Lilith was caught by Yingling. Her eyes narrowed again.
Messy! Absolutely messy! A total disgrace to Fox!
Your aunt asked you to learn something from me. What did you learn?
Your sister here is such a self-reliant, independent person with so many good qualities, but I taught such a thing — who taught you to cling to a powerful figure like this? Huh?
She decided to teach this guy and her own shameless little sister a good lesson later.
Yingling suddenly said with a smile, “So, Mr. Louis, what are your plans for today? I don’t really like salons, nor mingling with the nobles of Englen. I might as well join you for some fun, lend a hand.”
“Oh, I’m going to another salon,” Louis said, pinching Lilith’s little foot.
The corner of Yingling’s mouth twitched violently; she badly wanted to slap him.
“Ahem, Louis.” Ocris coughed, giving Louis a look that meant ‘watch your tone with Teacher Yingling.’ She smoothed things over: “Let Teacher Yingling accompany you. She knows Englen City well. There have been quite a few people from the Ministry of Magic lately.”
“Alright then, let’s all go together,” Louis sighed. He glanced at Yingling and saw just how bored she was today.
[No way! If my sister comes along, how can we have fun!]
Finding Lilith had kicked him a few times, Louis reached out and slapped Lilith’s foot away.
‘Fine, I’ll take the big one and the little one to have some fun… Speaking of which, what exactly is that Son of Lant? A tank? An armored vehicle? Yingling hasn’t seen one, right?’
Louis put several more pieces of the food he had cut onto Helen’s plate.
“Eat more. You’re at the age to grow.”
“Why does everyone treat me like a child! I’m not little! I’m almost 1.7 meters tall!” Helen was unhappy, her mouth pouting so much it could hang clothes. Seeing her sister ignoring her, she looked for help towards Yingling across the table.
“This guy’s mouth spouts nonsense — but Louis is right.” Yingling suddenly glared at Helen, surprisingly agreeing with Louis for once. “A girl shouldn’t just grow tall. You’re starting to look like a pole.”
