Chapter 149: Almost Became the Dungeon Boss
by WuWangChapter 149: Almost Became the Dungeon Boss
The banquet tonight had already begun for a while, but there were still people occasionally passing through the corridors of the Royal Court. Some ladies were still dressing up.
Louis was in the restroom, pulling up his pants while looking in the mirror.
He wasn’t wearing a suit today, but a trench coat with big buttons, pants that reached below the knees, and long boots.
He couldn’t help glancing at the Grand Engineer Mr. Lant beside him—he was wearing a noble outfit with a large ruff collar that looked like a big plate on his shoulders, appearing particularly ridiculous. But it seemed Yordles really loved wearing this kind of clothing for formal occasions.
After washing his hands, Louis walked out of the restroom and said to the Grand Engineer Mr. Lant, who followed him step by step: “Alright, I’ll try to find some materials to upgrade the Son of Lant for you. You guys work on repairing it first—it’s fine, those foolish Wizards don’t know the Son of Lant is already broken to this extent.”
“Hmm.” The Grand Engineer Lant, who came to play a trick, rubbed his red eyes, sniffled, and nodded: “Then it’s settled, you better not forget—my date is waiting for me, I’ll head over now.”
“Okay.”
Watching Mr. Lant mince his steps into the banquet hall, Louis rubbed his face.
These Engineers, just a couple of days ago, were swearing to others that I was the final piece of the Yordle trick plan, wanting to pull me in as a partner.
And today they played a trick on me.
Shaking his head, Louis checked his pocket watch, went to a side hall of the banquet venue, and waited at the door. His dance partner was still dressing up. So slow.
Out of boredom, Louis checked his rewards.
The 15 random attributes 2 (A+B) were already in hand. They added up to +10 in all attributes. His Presence also skyrocketed to 2000 instantly.
Also, the reputation with the Temple Knights and the Mechanical Institute was obtained, but not +1000, it was Max.
The Gronn clan’s admiration +Max was also obtained.
And the reputation with the Kingdom of Sorrento increased by 1500, directly changing from indifferent to respectful.
The driver’s license for the destroyer ‘Son of Lant’ was originally obtained, but now it turned gray—tricked by Lant. Had to help Grand Engineer Lant feel better, otherwise, his Gundam wouldn’t let him drive and play with it in the future.
It really needed an upgrade. This kind of heavy armor equipment had too many flaws. Its Magic resistance against weird types of Magic like ‘Witchcraft’ and ‘Curse’ was almost 0!
If he wasn’t the one driving it and didn’t forcibly apply some protective Magic Spells, any flower-card Wizard could easily kill the pilot inside.
However, this equipment, with +500 Mana, still had a lot of potential in Louis’s opinion. So Louis planned to help Lant with this—Lant mentioned something about an archaeological team, which Archie seemed to know about. It seemed to be related to some trouble with the small, fat owner of Warhammer of the God of War, ‘Michelin Barriff’.
Would solve it together.
Next, the [Head of the Ministry of Magic Department of Mysteries Branch Office 1] changed, becoming [Head of the Ministry of Magic Independent Mysterious Retirement Department 1 (being implemented)]—probably Archie was working on it.
Finally, there was also [Red Queen Family reputation +1000], and [Red Queen’s Affection 1]—originally it was admiration.
Louis found it a bit strange.
If the Gronn worshipped him, Louis could understand. Those simple-minded folks worshipped the strong. After he took down the Dragon Slayer Gundam, the intimidation effect on the Gronn clan was huge.
But this Red Queen and the Red Queen Family… what was going on?
Louis scratched his head, feeling puzzled: ‘This Red Queen Family is the Red Queen’s family, right? Are they Vampires? Why the reputation gain? And, how could the Red Queen develop such feelings for me?’
‘Could the Storybook’s prophecy be wrong? No reason though…’
A series of gurgling stomach noises interrupted Louis’s thoughts. He rubbed his stomach.
Hearing the occasional passing Yordles discussing the feast at today’s banquet, Louis felt even hungrier.
Didn’t eat for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Now he felt a bit weak.
Mainly the consumption was too great.
Although today the Son of Lant didn’t explode, its Mana went berserk. Those flames were burning Mana. Because Louis was in a merged state with it, it was like burning gasoline being poured into his blood vessels.
The fire burned really fiercely. By the time he put out the fire and crawled out, his body was already burnt beyond recognition.
Plus, he got hit with a bunch of Curses, so restoring his flesh and blood and suppressing the Curses consumed a lot of Strength.
Today his Mana was pretty much drained. Combined with not eating, he now felt a bit hypoglycemic.
Checking his pocket watch again, Louis suddenly saw fire ignite on his arm. His eyebrow twitched slightly.
He had inscribed many Incantation Texts on his body before—back when he first met Stuart, helped Stuart break a Curse, and then dreamed of the Dream Eater Serpent.
These Incantation Texts gave him very high Magic resistance and protected him from many Curses.
But just now, he discovered that part of the Incantation Texts on his body had been quietly damaged by some hidden power.
Louis turned and walked into an empty room next door. With a tear of his hand, a large piece of skin fell off his arm. The muscle underneath was full of various Incantation Texts, raging with flames, looking just like charcoal.
Louis’s mouth twitched, and he began repairing the Incantation Texts. Quickly, he removed the Curse left by the Red Queen in his body. But then he felt waves of weakness all over and became dizzy.
A wave of hunger came from his stomach. Louis held his head and sat on the sofa, seeing stars.
‘Damnit, my mom always said skipping breakfast is bad. I said I’d eat breakfast before going. Those buns were useless.’ In his drowsy state, Louis felt his stomach rumble chaotically—he felt like he could eat a dragon right now.
The flames on his body flared up again. Louis was so hungry he couldn’t move: ‘Am I going to have to do a Corpse Run?’
[Stuart, get your ass over here, I’m out of HP and MP…]
In his dizzy haze, Louis felt Stuart’s shadow enveloping a few people, flying out of the Mirror, bustling around him.
Louis opened his eyes and saw Stuart, along with a bewildered Ross and Igner and several Mages.
After checking the situation, everyone understood somewhat. Ross directed the Mages to tear open the skin and flesh at several burning spots on the Boss’s body. They saw the flesh and blood looking like burning charcoal, covered in various Incantation Texts and red blood texts.
“It’s indeed the Red Queen’s Curse,” said the Porcelain Doll old man Ross, stroking his beard. “But the Boss has already suppressed most of it. What’s left now isn’t much.”
“These flames are probably Mana from the Son of Lant remaining in the Boss’s body. They are still burning. Let’s put out the fire first and apply these Potions.”
After saying that, Ross took out a box of ointment. While directing everyone to repair those Incantation Texts, he applied various Potions to the Boss’s body.
Louis gradually became more alert, but stars still flashed in his head, and his body felt weak. So he lay on the sofa to rest for a while.
However, these guys weren’t wrong about a few things.
The Red Queen’s level was extraordinary, no wonder Frankischko was killed by her once back then—Frankischko’s knowledge indeed fell far short of a Forbidden Archmage, but with her level of Mana, her Strength was still quite high, capable of facing Ancient Gods head-on.
The Twelve Great Noble Houses had some substance. No wonder the Lunar Court was still kept down even now, and Dragons were also very afraid of Wizards—both forces probably had god-level things.
But these Bosses were all very docile.
It seemed that what Anthony gave to the Twelve Great Noble Houses back then was passed down quite a bit. And those books, although many were burned, the Noble Wizards kept the things they found useful—this book burning was probably for ‘I have it, you don’t’.
They most likely kept the Spellbooks with Mana—although it was a bit like throwing out the watermelon to pick up the sesame seeds, these things were still precious.
Should find a way to slowly uncover these Spellbooks. The Mages were currently short of textbooks. For Magic to flourish again in this world, these books were needed.
Just like the Xinhua Dictionary, he indeed knew all the characters, but he alone couldn’t compile a Xinhua Dictionary for everyone to use as a reference book.
After the many Wizards performed a flurry of skilled operations, the injuries on Louis’s body gradually healed. But the many Wizards saw the Boss still lying on the sofa, holding his head, not getting up, looking too drowsy to even speak.
What’s going on?
With a serious expression, Ross took out his newly brewed Potion—leek. He took a small spoonful and put it in the Boss’s mouth.
Soon, the Boss recovered a bit.
Everyone looked at the Boss on the sofa licking his lips, glanced at each other, and understood what was going on.
Hypoglycemia.
Their expressions looked a bit odd.
[Tsk tsk tsk, thousands of elite Noble Wizards, countless Artifacts, three wondrous treasures, plus a Red Queen and an MT tank, and so many Curses, Witchcraft, and Buffs for the tank targeting the Magic Mirror… If you added a learned great scholar who even studied gods, that would be a god-slaying lineup.]
[And the Boss ended up getting beaten until he was hungry…]
[Even with the Son of Lant’s protection, and Her Majesty Dalphinia and the others blocking part of the force, the Boss was still a bit too exaggerated. After all, the other side had so many more people.]
[Truly a world Boss.]
[If the Red Queen didn’t bring so many lackeys today and fought the Boss one-on-one, she would probably get pinned down and beaten up.]
