Chapter 138: Is This How the Royal Family Usually Disciplines a Princess?

By the time they were getting off the carriage, Crowley had mostly sobered up.

He mentioned the upcoming festival to Louis.

The festival was to be held at the ‘Stogg Sports Arena’ near the coast. From Crowley’s description, the event was similar to the Olympics, with people from various countries attending.

“The festival is during the day, and there’s a banquet at night. Dignitaries from many nations will come to celebrate the king’s birthday,” Crowley said meaningfully. “Also, some Wizard Principalities might attend — Miss Yingling should be familiar with that.”

    Louis nodded without saying much.

The Stogg Sports Arena was probably the ‘Stogg Dragon Colosseum,’ but nobles like Crowley didn’t seem to know about things like the ‘two-headed Gronn.’ They only knew there would be a simple military display that day, with the fleet, airships, the Son of Lant, and others making an appearance.

“Besides that, there might be some magical creatures,” Crowley said with a laugh.

Louis and Yingling exchanged a look, their expressions turning odd. It seemed the nobles weren’t aware of the bet. But tomorrow they would see just how magical that creature was.

And presumably, the Witch Queen planned to have Prince Nephar make his appearance tomorrow.

But that wasn’t something she could decide alone.

After settling on the time for the next day, Louis and Yingling returned to their hotel.

It seemed a film festival was happening, as the hotel’s red carpet was bustling with people, and reporters were everywhere. The lobby was also packed.

Louis and Yingling watched curiously for a while before heading back — thus missing the chance to encounter the famous director Trif, who was currently preparing to film “Silent Harbor.”

The two rested in Louis’s room all afternoon. After dinner, Louis gave Yingling a tutoring session in his room — a proper one.

The Mages also came to ask questions. Seeing the huge scrolls of magic they brought out, Yingling blinked — what were all these things?

    Louis blinked too.

He knew that because of Igner and Yingling, the Mage Association now had secret channels to purchase various magical materials.

But the materials for these Magic Scrolls were very expensive!

Looking them over, Louis found they had done a decent job and nodded in satisfaction. “Try your Necromantic Summoning, Mr. Cardi.”

Cardi dug out one scroll from seven or eight different ones. After an incantation, the scroll ignited without wind. A Magic Circle appeared in mid-air, and a small skeleton was summoned.

The little skeleton looked rather frail, but it seemed to have a pair of bony wings on its back.

While everyone was looking on curiously, they saw the little skeleton crouch on the floor and spit out a few blue sparks.

Yingling’s mouth fell open — a bone dragon?!

    Was that a bone dragon?!

It was quite small, but that was a bone dragon, right?!

That was an ancient summoning art! Very few in the entire Sacred Oak could do it!

“A bit ashamed,” Mage Cardi said. “I messed up five or six scrolls before this one finally worked.”

Yingling couldn’t help but blink — a 20% summoning success rate?

    That couldn’t be real!

    2% was more like it!

“Don’t rush to make finished scrolls next time. Build a solid foundation first,” Louis said, giving his student a look. That guy Cardi had burned through at least eight hundred Gold Galleons today.

Yingling lifted her head woodenly and looked at Louis. Such a terrifying success rate, and he still said the foundation wasn’t solid?

If this guy opened a shop in Blackhorn Alley now, he’d make a steady profit for sure!

Several Mages took turns demonstrating their creations. Yingling stared, dumbfounded, at the Magic Circles that flashed into existence one after another. When she looked at these Mages again, her eyes were somewhat numb.

Many ordinary Wizard Academy deans in the Wizard Principalities probably weren’t at this level!

Yingling couldn’t help but look at their teacher, Louis, stars appearing in her eyes — Master really is the most awesome.

After the demonstrations, Louis explained some things to Yingling and the others. Not long after, the Mages who had gone hunting that day also returned.

Everyone started discussing noisily. It seemed things had gone well that day. The Princess had not only made a grand appearance, but the whole royal family had also seemed harmonious. The studious Queen had even taken the opportunity to ask Bach and others some questions about spatial geometry.

But from the sound of it, the Queen had been laughing happily all day, looking at Ocris with that particular expression. She probably hadn’t expected Ron and the others to team up with Ocris.

These so-called Mages did indeed have rich knowledge in those useless miscellaneous subjects.

But did Ocris really think they had actual magical skill and was counting on them?

What use were Mages who couldn’t cast Magic Spells?

It was just fools gathering together.

It almost made her laugh herself silly.

Clearly, this Witch Queen, who often asked the Mages questions, had no respect for teachers. She had always seen those Mages who shared their knowledge with her generously as clowns.

She had even let them go to Crowley Manor, intending to watch the fun.

“Why hasn’t Ocris come back?” Yingling wondered.

“Oh, the King and Her Majesty the Queen attended the hunting banquet today — it was quite a spectacle,” Bach said, slapping his riding crop. “In the evening, Her Highness the Princess and the others went back to the palace with His Majesty the King — Miss Kate and the others were invited too.”

Yingling blinked, not quite understanding — why hadn’t she been notified with a Crystal Ball?

Louis just laughed after hearing this.

Just asking for trouble, showing off like that. Solerndor only had this one Princess of direct royal blood. Since returning these past couple of days, Ocris hadn’t gone back to the royal family first but had been socializing with nobles everywhere. Such behavior practically declared internal discord within the royal family!

This was publicly smearing the royal family! Publicly giving the reporters material and scandals!

Her mother was probably both wronged and seething with anger. Add her stepmother fanning the flames, and she was definitely in for a scolding tonight.

From what the Mages said, Ocris was still feeling pleased with herself. Seeing her ‘father’ come to support her today had made her very happy. She had even deliberately provoked her stepmother a few times.

Louis was already highly amused. He calculated the time and guessed Ocris had probably been tricked into going home by her mother and stepmother. Seeing the Mages still discussing the hunt and magic with Yingling, he went to the study, picked up a Mirror, and summoned the Magic Mirror.

After a moment’s thought, Louis felt it might be improper — if he laughed out loud and his Mother-in-law sensed it, it would be a bit awkward.

He rummaged in his sleeve, took out a few small bags, selected some Magic Powder, crushed a small piece of magic crystal, and then recited an incantation.

Immediately, various magical elements flew into the air without wind, forming a Magic Circle behind the Mirror.

Then, the Mirror merged into the Void, which rippled like water.

Louis recited another incantation along with Ocris’s name. Then, an opening like a window appeared in the air before him. Through it, he could see a hall in the Royal Palace.

Looking at the scene, it seemed to be filled with Ocris’s aunts and great-aunts. Besides the King, there were no men present.

    A family gathering?

Ocris seemed to be arguing with her ‘real mom.’ She was throwing a tantrum, smashing a bunch of things, which made Frankischko tremble with anger. Delphinia called in a group of burly Dragonborn Mothers — those huge horns made them look like female Demons!

Judging by the setup, there seemed to be quite a drama unfolding today!

‘Whoa, this setup… Is this how the royal family usually disciplines a princess? What’s that Mother coming over for? Why are they holding her down, lifting her skirt, and looking like they’re going to take off her stockings? And… and why is her stepmother picking up a paddle? Spanking? Really?’

    Louis was suddenly wide awake.
