Chapter 132: Our Mystery Nursing Home Also Has a Legacy

Louis lifted the tablecloth like he was drawing a card and nervously glanced under it.
Flesh-toned stockings… It seemed like only Yingling wore a skirt today.
He touched it and found the foot was trembling fearfully. After listening to the thoughts of those around, he realized it was Yingling, who was beside Ocris.
Louis looked up blankly and saw Yingling still pretending nothing was wrong. He slapped the foot away.
‘This fox spirit really needs to be taught a lesson!’
A while ago, Yingling was scared to death of Louis. Last night she called him ‘brother-in-law’ and ‘brother-in-law’. Today she started acting playful. She was getting bolder and bolder.
After breakfast, Earl Crowley arrived. Ocris seemed rather solemn.
To be honest, her family had always been close to the Crowley Family. They even had marriage ties once and were distant relatives. Her father and Earl Crowley were distant cousins who grew up together. So strictly speaking, she should call him uncle.
Ocris knew that although she and Kate were childhood friends, they hadn’t been in touch for a long time – nobles were the most opportunistic types. What kind of friend was that, anyway?
But because Louis was close to the Crowley Family, her relationship with the Crowley Family had been restored. Lately, not only had Kate become friendlier with her again, and they recaptured the feeling of being like sisters in childhood, but even Kate’s father had started supporting her.
Gaining the support of such a powerful great earl was something Ocris always thought would be very difficult, so she felt somewhat excited inside.
But on the surface, she still had to maintain royal dignity. So during their conversation, she was gentle and refined, giving off a very steady and graceful feeling.
Crowley was actually here today to ‘meet’ the princess, and during their talk, the princess’s conversation showed insight and good ideas.
He could tell this princess, who had spent a long time at the seminary, was quite knowledgeable. She was completely different from the foolish noblewomen and ladies of many royal prince families or great noble houses.
This made Crowley feel very satisfied, thinking he hadn’t supported the wrong person.
After chatting for a while, Ocris introduced Earl Yingling to Crowley.
Crowley had heard of this mysterious Fox family.
[A witch… Is she someone Louis hired for the princess?]
[It seems the Sacred Oak Academy really isn’t a seminary, but a mystery academy…]
Louis heard Crowley’s thoughts. He could now confirm that the leaders among the nobility knew about the existence of witches. They just didn’t know about Sacred Oak.
This was probably because, after the conflict between witches and Muggles grew more intense, Frankischko cast a Magic Spell on the name ‘Sacred Oak’, weakening its Presence in the eyes of Muggles. The goal might have been to prevent her alma mater from being affected by the war.
Louis hadn’t told Crowley much about witches, but Crowley would slowly learn many things as his cooperation with Stogg and the Warhammer of the God of War deepened.
After a while, Crowley felt it was about time and ended the conversation. After another slight bow, he got straight to the point: “Your Highness, I still need to borrow your knight today.”
“You are too polite, Earl Crowley,” Ocris said with a smile. She looked at Louis and gave a slight nod. “Sir Louis, accompany Earl Crowley.”
Louis nodded slightly. Then he glanced at Yingling, who was quietly smoking her pipe nearby. He planned to ask Yingling about the ‘Dragon Clan’ on the way, so he brought her along today.
On the way downstairs, Yingling chatted with Earl Crowley for a few moments, acting entirely like a female earl, very dignified.
After some conversation, everyone arrived at the garden in front of the main hall lobby. Crowley said he needed to make a phone call, so Louis asked Yingling some questions about the Dragon Clan.
From Yingling, Louis learned that there were five great Dragon Clans. They were once one of the most powerful forces in this world. They called themselves the World Guardian Dragons, but in reality, they committed many evils.
But after Anthony killed the Moon Goddess, he scared all the dragons. And after the rise of wizards, the few dragons began to fear them too.
Even now, dragons were extremely wary of wizards. So they no longer rampaged through the world in their true forms as they used to.
Fire Dragons were actually dragons, but they weren’t descendants of the five great Guardian Dragons. So their intelligence was lower, they didn’t understand Magic, and they couldn’t shapeshift.
The descendants of the Guardian Dragons not only had very high intelligence but also possessed powerful Mana. They all claimed to be descendants of the World Guardian Dragon, ‘Garrak’.
These descendants of Garrak all had noble bloodlines and memory legacies. Each had a proper name. Compared to them, ordinary dragons (Fire Dragons) were like primitive people.
Many larger Fire Dragons had bodies as long as five or six stories tall. But Garrak Dragons were generally even larger. They often grew to be eight or nine stories tall.
A very few of the older Garrak Dragons had bodies nearly a hundred meters long.
That ‘Mr. Brockhol’ from the Sacred Oak Academy was a big guy twenty stories tall. If he climbed onto a building and spread his wings, he could cover the whole building!
And the famous dragon ‘Stogg’ was over a hundred and forty meters long! His body was like a tall building. When he spread his wings, he could probably cover an entire castle!
Calling him the Deathwing wasn’t an exaggeration.
These dragons all had their own territories, or dragon kingdoms. They were served by Dragonborn. They weren’t like their ‘never-growing-up’ Fire Dragon cousins, who were often captured by wizards.
Isolda was a human with the bloodline of a Garrak Dragon.
“If Isolda has dragon blood, why don’t Muggles know dragons exist in the world?”
Yingling glanced at Earl Crowley at the lobby counter telephone and the people coming and going around them. She took a slow puff of her Smoking Pipe, putting on a business-like demeanor, and said, “Sir, dragons are divided into several branches, all living in seclusion overseas. When they occasionally come to the human world, they present themselves as Dragonborn.”
Yingling continued, “The Isolda Family hasn’t intermarried with dragons for over a thousand years. Or rather, in the last millennium, only King Isolda gained the recognition of a dragon and became a ‘Dragon Knight’. As for King Isolda’s descendants, they already had no connection to dragons; at most, they married Dragonborn wizards.”
“However, since Frankischko died, Her Majesty Delphinia established contact with the Black Dragon Clan.”
“Black Dragons are the most active and ambitious among the five great Dragon Clans. When operating in the Muggle World, they often call themselves ‘Nephar people’. Their transformed appearance looks quite similar to Dragonborn, so Muggles have always thought the Nephar were just the royal family of a mysterious overseas kingdom founded by Dragonborn.”
“Also, during the war between Muggles and wizards, the Black Dragon lineage once helped Solerndor in the guise of the Nephar.”
After talking for a while, Louis understood this background.
By now, Earl Crowley had also returned. The three of them came to the hotel entrance. Louis saw, parked at the entrance, a carriage pulled by six horses.
The carriage’s style was a bit odd, very ancient. It didn’t look like Crowley’s preferred modern style.
“It looks like… a Lunar Court carriage?” Yingling said hesitantly.
Crowley smiled awkwardly, opened the carriage door, and invited Louis and Earl Yingling inside. After Louis got in and looked up, he saw Bishop John sitting opposite him on the seat, smiling.
Louis was a bit stunned.
Crowley got in the carriage, closed the door, and coughed awkwardly. “The identity arranged for you today still requires the Lunar Court’s help. Bishop John didn’t let me mention this earlier; he was afraid you wouldn’t come.”
“Bishop John,” Louis said, preparing to get off the carriage. “I’m a Priest of Sacred Oak. You can’t keep thinking about poaching me! We have rules about this! I can’t get baptized at the Lunar Court! Otherwise, how will I ever get by in (wizard circles)… ahem, at Sacred Oak!”
John didn’t say much. He just chuckled, then pulled out a letter.
Louis opened the envelope with a strange expression. He saw it was a letter written by Principal Oliver’s assistant, on behalf of the principal. The content was basically assigning Louis to visit the ‘Saint Anthony Grand Cathedral’ to promote mutual exchanges.
Yingling leaned over to look at the letter, then rubbed her forehead, somewhat speechless. “A person from the ‘Mystery Nursing Home’ getting baptized at the Lunar Court… That counts as having a legacy too…”
Louis: “???”
…
