Volume 6 Chapter 93
by Golden DragonVolume 6 + Chapter 93: The Miracle Heart-Throbbing Magic
Within Molent City, an airship circled high above the city, projecting the image of a male elf into the sky.
The moment Xia Yi saw the elf’s face, she revealed an expression of utter disbelief and instinctively shouted his name.
“Kennedy!!”
Xia Yi had met Kennedy several times before. For some reason, the great general of the elf kingdom always loved making trouble for her, constantly finding ways to oppose her.
So the instant she saw that face, she unconsciously blurted out his name.
But after thinking about it more carefully, perhaps she had mistaken him for someone else?
This was the Mythic Era, after all. How could Kennedy possibly appear here?
Maybe this was simply an elf from the Mythic Era who happened to look incredibly similar to Kennedy…
“Xia Yi, how do you know the city lord?” Qiu asked curiously.
“Huh?” Xia Yi froze.
“The lord of Molent City is named Kennedy.”
“……”
For a moment, Xia Yi did not know what to say.
“Citizens of Molent City, good afternoon. I am Kennedy, lord of Molent…”
Using the magically projected image from the airship, Kennedy spoke like a political leader delivering a public address. After briefly introducing himself, he began his speech.
There was no mistake. Even the voice was exactly the same. It had to be the real person.
Xia Yi refused to believe there could be such an absurd coincidence in the world. This was definitely Kennedy, the elven general.
Kennedy had also come to the Mythic Era, and had even become the city lord of this era… It was simply unbelievable!
“Sister Qiu, while wandering around last night, I heard that Molent’s city lord was named Kennedy,” Xia Yi explained to Qiu. “The city lord contributed an enormous amount of funding toward the construction of Molent City, right?”
“Yes, that’s correct.”
Qiu nodded in confirmation.
“It was precisely because of the city lord’s financial support that Molent City was able to be built. That earned him tremendous prestige, allowing him to become Molent’s lord with ease.”
“R-Right, exactly!”
At last, Xia Yi managed to muddle through the conversation without exposing herself in front of Qiu.
She turned her attention back to Kennedy and continued listening to the speech.
“Last night, an utterly intolerable incident occurred within Molent City. The once-renowned scholar Lao Huo turned out to be an exceptionally vile criminal. Together with the outlaw Bi Yangde, he had secretly conducted all manner of filthy business dealings. Now that the truth has been completely exposed, I am filled with incomparable anger!”
“I can state this clearly to everyone. Although Lao Huo and I were acquaintances, the law cannot bend for personal ties. He and Bi Yangde must stand trial. These evildoers will inevitably face severe punishment for their crimes!”
Kennedy publicly expressed an unwavering stance before the people. His voice spread throughout every corner of Molent City.
“Very soon, we will hold a public trial for Lao Huo and Bi Yangde. Everyone is welcome to attend the court and witness the hammer of justice crashing down upon evil!!”
At this point, Kennedy’s speech was nearly over. He added a few more standard official remarks before the projected image cast from the airship disappeared.
After listening to Kennedy’s speech, Xia Yi felt an oddly familiar sensation.
This really was Kennedy himself, even his speaking style had barely changed. Especially that sanctimonious air about him…
Same old feeling. Same old flavor.
“Sigh, so Lao Huo was actually that kind of horrible person. I used to admire him so much too. What a disappointment. Human trafficking, organ trafficking, doing such despicable things!”
“I’m not surprised at all. I heard long ago that Lao Huo played pretty wild in private. Don’t let the wheelchair fool you, behind the scenes… tsk tsk, he was a complete beast in gentleman’s clothing.”
“Enough talking. Courtroom review, activate!”
People throughout Molent City discussed the day’s events noisily among themselves.
“Hmm… maybe I should close the shop for half a day and go watch the trial. Public hearings like this are pretty rare…” Qiu said hesitantly.
“Sister Qiu, you should go watch it. If you miss this one, there probably won’t be another chance,” Xia Yi suggested.
“Mm, true enough. Since it’s Lao Huo, his trial will probably be more entertaining than a stage play. Alright then, let’s go watch it when the time comes.” Qiu agreed in the end.
“Kennedy…”
Xia Yi gazed toward the distant tower.
She knew that was where the lord of Molent City operated from.
And if this really was Kennedy, then she absolutely needed to meet him.
“Xia Yi, come back to work already. Stop standing outside,” Qiu called as she walked back into the shop.
“Coming~”
……
By the time the shop closed, another exhausting day had passed, and Xia Yi felt utterly drained.
“Xia Yi, come over here for a moment,” Qiu called out.
“What is it?”
The silver-haired dragon maid trotted over to the counter.
“I’m planning to launch a new service. Starting tomorrow, you’ll need to master an entirely new skill,” Qiu said mysteriously. “It was suggested by the customers.”
“What skill?”
“A special kind of magic.”
“Magic?” Xia Yi grew even more curious.
“Yes. A magic that makes desserts taste better. Come, watch me demonstrate.”
A small cake sat in front of Qiu.
Xia Yi was baffled. In all her knowledge, there shouldn’t exist any magic capable of making food taste delicious…
Suddenly, Qiu’s expression changed. She revealed a bright smile and then did something utterly shocking.
This mature green dragon lady struck an adorable pose, recited unbearably embarrassing lines, and began “casting magic” at the little cake.
“Sweet and sugary~ soft and fluffy~ miracle heart-throbbing magic~ little cake~ become delicious~”
After reciting the chant, Qiu formed a heart shape with both hands, as though she had infused the cake with some kind of magical energy.
Xia Yi was completely dumbfounded.
For a moment, the atmosphere inside the dessert shop turned painfully awkward. Even Qiu herself seemed embarrassed and coughed several times.
“Ahem… that’s basically it. Xia Yi, this shouldn’t be too hard to learn. Starting tomorrow, you’ll need to master this skill. It’s an extremely important part of maid service.”
“Urgh, just kill me already!”
Xia Yi staggered backward several steps in terror, nearly falling over.
“There’s no way I’m doing something this embarrassing!!”
“It’s not embarrassing. This is proper maid service,” Qiu emphasized.
“No way, Sister Qiu. You do it yourself!”
“I can’t. Everyone absolutely adores the silver-dragon maid, and they specifically requested you. This service could boost the shop’s popularity even further.”
“Nope nope nope, absolutely not!”
Xia Yi shook her head furiously like a rattling drum.
Back in the Dragon Royal Palace, she had never once seen the royal maid corps perform any so-called Miracle Heart-Throbbing Magic…
This was way beyond the syllabus!
However, she suddenly thought of something and hesitated.
“Well… if you really want me to do it, then maybe…”
“Maybe?” Qiu’s eyes widened with delight, as though she had spotted a possible opening.
“What is it, Xia Yi? Just say it!”
Then, from Xia Yi’s mouth came three world-shaking words…
“You’ll need to pay extra.”
