Chapter 96: Watch Me Recite for You
by WuWangChapter 96: Watch Me Recite for You
Ron and Earl Crowley’s eyes twitched violently—You’re a Mage?
Stop talking nonsense!
Look at all this holy flame filling the room!
Look at the walls, the floor, the cracks everywhere!
And you say you’re a Mage?
I’ve never seen such a powerful Paladin!
“Mr. Ron, let’s see your new spell.”
Saying this, Louis grabbed the shadowy creature and pulled it out from the crack in the bluestone floor. Then he threw it onto the Demon-Sealing Array.
Seeing the shadowy creature still struggling slightly, trying to crawl away, Louis raised an eyebrow. He bent back the badly twisted scepter in his hand, then forcefully slammed it down. It pierced through the shadowy creature and drove deep into the bluestone floor at the center of the Demon-Sealing Array.
“Recite it.” Louis put an arm around Ron’s shoulder and pulled him over. “This world has Magic, Ron. I’m telling you, I believe in this Magic thing—hurry up and show us.”
A gust of wind blew over, sweeping the dust from Louis’s priestly robes. Louis looked up and saw everyone staring at him blankly. He couldn’t help but frown and listen to their thoughts.
[Helen: Sister, why aren’t you saying anything? The Crystal Ball is still glowing, weird—don’t you see? Louis beat that thing down! Why are you in a daze!]
[Stuart: Boss… how do you want me to write this report…]
[Kate: Lord Louis… it turns out, he really is a powerful Paladin…]
[Crowley: I must have been blind… so Mr. Barriff invited such a powerful warrior!]
[His Excellency Bishop John: Anthony’s beard! He must be the Son of the God of War recorded in the Dawn Codex! It’s said those with extraordinary talent, blessed with ‘Heaven’s Armament,’ can gather the sun’s light and possess dragon-like Strength!]
Helen suddenly jumped up.
“We are Priests from the Sacred Tree Theological College.” Helen suddenly jumped up, putting her hands on her hips. “My sister is Her Highness Princess Ocris! He is her sworn Knight!”
[Sister, is that what I should say? Helen is repeating it correctly, right?]
Earl Crowley and the others looked blankly at Louis: ‘A Paladin from Sacred Tree… That little girl Ocris’s Knight?!’
“L-Lord Louis.” Mr. Green suddenly asked cautiously, “C-can I learn some martial arts from you?”
Louis rubbed his face hard. He rolled up his sleeves, planning to explain to everyone, but just then, a hand patted Louis on the shoulder.
Louis looked back and saw it was Ron.
“Lord Louis, you are right. I believe there is Magic in this world. I will recite it for you now.” Ron pressed his lips together, his eyes red. Trembling, he opened the book and stood solemnly before the Demon-Sealing Array.
The other two Mages suddenly remembered their original purpose and became serious. They came before Ron and helped him hold up the heavy book. Ron rubbed his red eyes and began reciting the first Magic Spell.
Spell after spell failed. It seemed the spells they had written themselves were useless. The three Mages were not discouraged. They discussed, modified the spells, and tried again. They were completely absorbed.
Mr. Louis believed in them so much, believed in Magic. How could they let down someone who wanted to see Magic?
Magic must exist in this world.
But as spells failed one by one, the light in their eyes slowly faded from initial excitement and hope to disappointment and sorrow.
Yet, the three still seemed undaunted. Just like when Louis first saw them over a dozen minutes ago, they held their books, argued, discussed Magic, and spoke grandly.
However, by now, others had long shifted their focus—Earl Crowley, who invited the three, even began to doubt the rumors about the three Mages. He secretly congratulated himself that Mr. Barriff had invited a true expert today. He also regretted his previous lack of proper hospitality.
Not just Crowley, many others had the same thought—indeed, the contrast was too sharp. The Demon was pinned to the ground by the ‘Knight,’ yet the Mages couldn’t cast a single spell.
What would have happened today if that Knight wasn’t here?
These three are simply frauds…
Everyone had now gathered around Louis. Earl Crowley and Bishop John even held Louis’s hands, expressing gratitude while excitedly talking about various matters.
Bishop John asked ‘Demon-Slaying Hero Louis’ if he was interested in going to the Lunar Court—hinting he would persuade the Pope to confer upon him the title of Templar Knight. And Bishop John would become the ‘guide’ for this great Angel…
Earl Crowley asked if Louis intended to stay in Englen City and spend more time at the Manor—hinting that His Majesty the King, upon learning of this, would surely confer a noble title upon him.
After a few words, the two even began to argue a little.
Even Kate, who had greatly admired the three Archmages before, now looked at Louis with shining eyes. She even quietly asked Helen about Mr. Louis.
No one paid attention to the three Mages.
“…I still believe Magic exists in this world!” Bach said with his head held high to his two companions. “According to the theory school…”
A series of dry coughs interrupted Bach’s grand speech. The butler signaled to the three Mage gentlemen to lower their voices. Earl Crowley and the others also frowned slightly.
The Earl and his group no longer listened carefully to their grand speeches, no longer applauded, no longer curiously asked about Magic.
They started to find them noisy.
And looking at them now, speaking so grandly, they were like three clowns…
They didn’t understand Magic at all, and Magic simply didn’t exist in this world.
His Majesty the King had been fooled by them all along. Tomorrow, he must inform the King about this.
They all forgot who stepped forward and risked their lives to accompany them when they were most desperate and helpless, when all other capable people avoided the matter—though, admittedly, their abilities were limited.
“Sir Bach, I think what you just said is right. Magic exists in this world.” Louis withdrew his hands from Bishop John and Earl Crowley’s grasp, walked over, and picked up the heavy book. “I was listening carefully while you were reciting spells and discussing just now—these eighteen Magic Spells are all correct. It’s just that you gentlemen were too noisy earlier.”
At this, Louis glanced at Earl Crowley and the others, nodding slightly. “My apologies, Earl Crowley, you were indeed too noisy just now. And as everyone knows, when Mages cast Magic, there should be no distracting noise.”
Earl Crowley and the others were momentarily speechless, their expressions somewhat unpleasant, unsure of what to say.
“As I said earlier. Sir Bach, Sir Ron. I am a Magic enthusiast. I believe these eighteen spells are all correct—and you wrote them brilliantly. You are true Mages.”
Saying this, Louis winked at Ron and began flipping through the book.
At the same time, a voice sounded in Ron’s heart.
[I told you, Ron, I am also a Magic enthusiast—watch me recite for you.]
Ron felt as if struck by lightning.
