Volume 6 Chapter 85
by Golden DragonVolume 6 + Chapter 85: Delicious Fruit Wine
As the waiter passed by Beyond’s side, the lion-headed man quietly said a single sentence.
“Make it sweeter.”
A ripple flashed through the waiter’s eyes.
If an outsider overheard those words, they would probably find them rather meaningless and simply interpret them literally, as in, making the wine taste sweeter.
In reality, however, this was a special code phrase used exclusively within Old Times Wine Café.
If the wine was to be “sweeter,” then naturally, something extra had to be added.
And that “something” was,
The waiter said nothing further. He merely responded with a knowing look before leaving.
This was one of the unspoken understandings shared within Old Times Wine Café.
“I wonder what the fruit wine here tastes like. I’ll give it a try first,” Xia Yi said expectantly.
“Rest assured, Miss Xia Yi. Every wine in Old Times Wine Café has been personally selected by the owner himself. He’s an extremely particular person who never allows either himself or the establishment he runs to settle for mediocrity.”
Beyond added another sentence reassuringly.
“Every customer who comes to the third floor is considered a distinguished guest. Everyone praises the wine and service here without exception.”
“Haha.”
After hearing that, the people around Beyond all burst into laughter.
On the surface, it sounded like ordinary agreement, but only these people understood the hidden meaning behind Beyond’s words.
All they could say was that this seemingly innocent silver dragon loli had trusted their boss so easily and followed him to the third floor of Old Times Wine Café.
At this point, whatever happened to her afterward would simply be her own fault.
“Speaking of which, Miss Xia Yi, why exactly did you come to Molent City?” Beyond probed casually. “Did you come here to visit someone?”
“Mister Beyond, why do you want to know that?”
“Please don’t misunderstand, Miss Xia Yi. I’m not trying to pry into your personal affairs. I simply want to remind you that if you’re unfamiliar with Molent City, then you should pay more attention to your own safety.”
“But doesn’t Molent City have security patrols?” Xia Yi asked curiously. “Won’t they deal with bad people?”
Beyond explained.
“Yes, according to their duties, they should. However, in Molent City, the patrols only fulfill the bare minimum of their responsibilities. If you encounter danger and expect them to put in their maximum effort to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, then you shouldn’t hold too much hope. To them, you’re merely an outsider. Frankly speaking, it’s already good enough if they don’t deliberately make things difficult for you.”
“Because this is the Land of Freedom?”
“Exactly. Everyone here has the right to enjoy freedom, including the security patrols.” Beyond nodded. “It seems you’re gradually beginning to grasp the essence of the Land of Freedom.”
“Oh, so this is what freedom means.”
Xia Yi looked thoughtful as she glanced around.
“Mister Beyond, this probably isn’t your first time here, is it?”
“That’s right. I’ve come here many times before. The owner of Old Times Wine Café has provided a great deal of support for my business. Not only are we friends, we’re also business partners. That relationship has lasted for many years.”
“Could it be… Mister Beyond has brought many outsiders here to drink before as well?”
Xia Yi caught onto a detail hidden within his words.
A trace of stiffness flashed across Beyond’s face, though he quickly concealed it.
“Miss Xia Yi, there have indeed been such cases before. But I’m a rather straightforward person, I only enjoy drinking with people I get along with. Besides, Old Times Wine Café is run by my friend. The owner is extremely picky about customers and dislikes people who lack elegance or appreciation for fine wine. However, I don’t think Miss Xia Yi is that sort of person, which is why I brought you here.”
“Mm, of course not.”
Xia Yi answered with a completely natural expression.
Internally, Beyond could not help rolling his eyes.
He actually had to say such insincere nonsense just to flatter some naive rich young lady who was innocent to the point of being ridiculous.
Thankfully, she truly was stupid enough.
Just a few compliments, and she was already this pleased with herself.
“Dear guest, the Old Times Special Fruit Wine you ordered has arrived. Please enjoy it slowly.”
The waiter carried over a glass of fragrant fruit wine and placed it before Xia Yi.
“It’s finally here. I’ve been waiting forever.”
Xia Yi stared at the fruit wine, which looked exceptionally appealing.
“A good wine is worth the wait, Miss Xia Yi. Make sure to savor it carefully.”
“I will.”
Xia Yi picked up the glass and began drinking.
Beyond maintained an expression of casual indifference, though inwardly he was already laughing.
As for his subordinates, they were practically unable to keep pretending anymore. At this point, the whole affair was basically over.
After drinking some of the fruit wine, Xia Yi set the glass down.
“Miss Xia Yi, how does the specially prepared Old Times Fruit Wine taste?” Beyond quickly asked.
“As for that…”
Xia Yi fell into brief silence, seemingly savoring the aftertaste. Then she revealed a satisfied expression and gave her answer.
“Very fresh. Very delicious.”
“Hehehehehe…”
Beyond could no longer suppress himself and began laughing aloud.
“Mmh… no, something’s wrong… My head… why does it feel so dizzy…”
Xia Yi held her forehead as though her vision were becoming blurry. She repeatedly blinked, trying to regain clarity, but it was useless.
“My alcohol tolerance isn’t this bad… why is this… happening…”
“Hahahaha! Hahahahahaha!!!”
Beyond burst into loud laughter.
“D-Don’t tell me… you… this wine… there’s something wrong with it!!”
Xia Yi’s expression changed dramatically. Fear filled her eyes as her entire body began trembling uncontrollably.
She tried to stand and escape, but her legs had gone weak and powerless. She barely managed to rise halfway before collapsing back down again.
“You bastards… you actually put something in the wine… This is simply, ”
Before the silver dragon girl could finish her furious accusation, she lost consciousness and collapsed onto the sofa, helpless like fish on a chopping block.
“I’ve seriously never seen someone this easy to deal with before. Are all silver dragons like this? I thought this would be way more troublesome,” Beyond scoffed. “So much for that.”
“Congratulations, Boss! You’ve obtained a silver dragon!!” his subordinates exclaimed excitedly.
“Exactly. Dragons are already incredibly valuable, let alone a silver dragon. Dragon meat, dragon blood, dragon liver, dragon lungs, dragon tail, dragon heart… every single part is worth a fortune. This is the first time I’ve seen one practically deliver itself to our doorstep.”
Beyond spoke with open contempt, completely disdainful toward Xia Yi.
At the same time, another expression surfaced upon his face,
Greed.
“This time, we’ve really struck gold.”
