Volume 6 + Chapter 83: Harmless Little Xia Yi

“I’m cute, so please give me money~”

Xia Yi stretched both hands out toward Qiu and flashed her a bright smile.

    “What?”

    Qiu blanked for a moment.

“Sister Qiu, I want to go out and have fun tonight, but I don’t have any money. So you need to give me some!” Xia Yi explained.

Since work was already over, then the time after work naturally belonged to her.

So why not go out and enjoy herself a little?

She wanted to see just how different the Mythic Age was compared to the era she came from.

And when going out, she definitely needed money in her pockets. There was no way she could wander around empty-handed, right?

That would be way too boring.

“Xia Yi, I should remind you of something. Even though Molent City has public security patrols, that doesn’t mean the nights here are safe.”

    Qiu explained carefully.

“Molent City has a nickname, The Land of Freedom. Countless races gather here. During the daytime, the security patrols keep people somewhat restrained. But at night, under the cover of darkness, those passionate souls become incomparably… free.”

    “How free?”

“One of the classic incidents is robbery…”

    “There’s looting here too?!”

“Of course. That’s why, once night falls, law-abiding citizens usually stay at home to avoid becoming targets. Meanwhile, all sorts of criminals and troublemakers start roaming the streets.”

Qiu lowered her voice and leaned close to Xia Yi’s ear.

“A delicate little girl like Xia Yi would be one of the primary targets for robbery.”

    “…”

    Xia Yi fell silent.

    Qiu smiled.

“Looks like Xia Yi is scared after all. In that case, just stay home, ”

“Awesome! That sounds way too fun! Now I absolutely have to go!”

Xia Yi’s face lit up with excitement.

    “Huh?”

    Qiu froze.

Didn’t this little silver dragon look like the obedient, well-behaved type?

How could she hear something this dangerous and not only fail to feel afraid, but actually become excited?

“Oh, Sister Qiu, don’t worry about me. I actually know some magic too, so I count as a mage.”

Xia Yi raised one finger and released fire-element mana. A small flame ignited at her fingertip.

“If it’s just some troublesome thugs, they won’t be my opponents. I’ll burn all the villains into ashes with fire.”

    “What confidence…”

“Besides, Sister Qiu, you already promised me that if I needed anything, you could advance my salary ahead of time.” Xia Yi pointed around the shop. “Look at today’s business! I definitely contributed a lot, right? Emotionally and logically speaking, you should give me money.”

“Fine, fine. I really can’t argue with you. But Xia Yi, you’d better be careful. If something happens to you, don’t blame me, I already warned you. You’re seven hundred years old already, so as an adult dragon, you need to take responsibility for yourself.”

    Qiu sounded rather helpless.

She took out her wallet and handed Xia Yi several Gio coins.

    “Here, this is today’s bonus.”

“Sister Qiu, you’re so generous! Thank you!”

Xia Yi happily accepted the bonus that belonged to her.

“Sister Qiu, aren’t you coming out to play with me?”

“No, I still need to prepare for tomorrow’s business in advance. Otherwise, by tomorrow morning, I probably won’t even be able to open the shop.”

“Then… should I stay and help?” Xia Yi offered.

“No need. Since you want to go out and look around, then go ahead. During your off-hours, you should do whatever you want. I can handle things myself,” Qiu replied. “After all, I’m not some black-hearted capitalist. Eight to six, that’s the principle of our shop.”

“Okay then! Work hard, Sister Qiu! When I come back tonight, I’ll bring you something tasty!”

That evening, after Xia Yi and Qiu finished dinner together, Xia Yi changed out of her maid outfit and into casual clothes before leaving the pastry shop.

Molent City at night was completely different from the daytime.

The skyscrapers throughout the city glittered with dazzling neon advertisements. Giant screens displayed eye-catching promotional performances. Most outrageous of all, there was actually a magical airship floating in the sky, projecting the stylish image of a middle-part hair styled man playing basketball.

Apparently, it was advertising the latest blockbuster film passionately created by the ultra-popular national idol Brother Ji,

    Rap Basketball.

This brilliantly illuminated world resembled a city that never slept.

“This is honestly even more outrageous than… Corolle.”

Xia Yi could not help but sigh in amazement.

The technology in Corolle had been secretly obtained through dealings between the local rising nobility and the outside world. Little by little, those nobles had transformed Corolle into what it later became through imported technology.

And those technologies themselves had originally been born within the human world.

Even during the era of the Human Sword Saint, Xia Yi had vaguely heard about it. In humanity’s pursuit of greater power, they had explored entirely different paths and conducted countless studies.

Among them was the fusion of science and magic to create magitech.

It was an emerging field of technology. According to rumors, its ultimate goal was to allow ordinary people to wield the power of magic as well, rather than leaving magic exclusively in the hands of talented mages.

However, magitech was still only in its infancy at the time. It remained a mere prototype and was still very far from achieving its envisioned potential. It had not yet caused widespread upheaval.

If Xia Yi remembered correctly, the technology had originally been excavated from ancient ruins by the Holy Temple Knights. Afterward, human alchemists studied the discoveries and gradually developed the results further.

Looking at it that way, the technology humans unearthed back then probably originated from the Mythic Age itself.

Xia Yi also recalled the equipment carried by the security patrols. If the armies of this era were all equipped with such powerful weaponry, then compared to the age she came from, they would probably achieve complete domination.

It was just like when the Vampire Ancestor Elizabeth gave the vampires an airship fleet. Without support from the dragons, the other races likely would have had no way to resist the vampires at all.

“The Mythic Age really is incredible…”

Xia Yi marveled inwardly, finding everything around her fascinatingly new.

While she wandered alone through the nighttime streets of the Land of Freedom, several figures quietly noticed her.

The looks in their eyes carried obvious ill intent. After tailing her for a while and confirming that she was alone, they approached and surrounded her.

“This cute little miss silver dragon, why are you all alone?” one of them asked. “From the looks of it, this is your first time in Molent, right?”

Xia Yi blinked at the group.

Then she lowered her head slightly, the corners of her lips curling upward into a sinister smile worthy of a villain, before the expression vanished without anyone noticing.

When the silver-haired little dragon girl raised her head again, her face had returned to an innocent, harmless look.

“Yes, it’s my first time in Molent. I’m really unfamiliar with this place.”
