Volume 3 Chapter 3
by Golden DragonVolume 3 + Chapter 3: The Approaching Student Council
“The new stage has already been prepared for you. Now, let me see how much you’ve improved during the year I was away.”
Standing opposite Bai Yuxuan, the four of them responded in unison.
“Yes.”
“But speaking of which, Boss, you’re as formidable as ever, taking down the entire previous student council all by yourself,” one of the boys said with a grin.
“Well, of course. In front of Senior Yuxuan, those people were nothing but trash, completely unworthy of mention!” the leading girl declared proudly.
“Really? But I heard that at the end of last semester, Boss actually lost once to that Ouyang Qianxue.”
“Ouyang Qianxue only won because of her connections. Senior Yuxuan was fighting alone, that’s why he lost. Someone like her, who relies on others, doesn’t even deserve to be compared to him,” the girl retorted indignantly in Bai Yuxuan’s defense.
“Enough.”
Before she could finish, Bai Yuxuan cut her off, his gaze turning icy. It was rare for him to show anger, and that single cold look was enough to make the girl hold her breath in fear.
“A loss is a loss. There’s nothing to argue about.”
After a moment, his tone softened slightly.
“Huh… didn’t expect you to admit defeat so openly, Boss,” the boy said teasingly.
“That’s Senior Yuxuan’s magnanimity!” the girl snapped, clearly displeased.
“Hmph, if you ask me, Boss didn’t really care about that result. Or maybe… he’s afraid of Ouyang Qianxue?” the boy stepped forward, smirking.
“Jiang Cheng, what nonsense are you spouting?!” the girl shouted, stepping in front of Bai Yuxuan.
“If not fear, then maybe it’s affection? Losing to someone you like doesn’t sting as much, right? Since your heart isn’t in the student council anymore, Boss, how about giving me your position?” Jiang Cheng said, smiling provocatively.
“And you think you’re worthy?” the girl with the pink headband scoffed.
“Even if I’m not, at least I said it out loud. Unlike someone who’s liked the Boss for three years and still doesn’t dare confess, ”
Before he could finish, the girl threw a punch straight at his face.
“Whoa, scary, scary! Did I hit a nerve?” Jiang Cheng laughed, blocking her punch with his arm.
“You!”
“That’s enough, Jiang Cheng. Xia Bingdie.”
At Bai Yuxuan’s command, the girl, who had been ready to throw another punch, immediately stopped and stood obediently to the side.
“Jiang Cheng, if you want my position, then earn it yourself. I’ll give you a fair chance to compete with me.”
“I wouldn’t dare, Boss. I just thought things were getting a bit too tense after we reunited, so I tried to lighten the mood. Besides, if anyone were to challenge you for student council president, it would be Bingdie. After you left in middle school, she’s been the president all along, it wouldn’t be my turn anyway.”
“Hmph. You’ve always got a smart mouth,” Bai Yuxuan shot back, glaring at Jiang Cheng.
“Forget it. Since today is your first day here, I won’t pursue what just happened. But now that you’re under me, you’d better take your work seriously. As for your roles, they’ll remain the same as they were in middle school.”
“Xia Bingdie will serve as vice president, Jiang Cheng as disciplinary officer, Gao Bo and Cui Ting as secretary and treasurer.”
“Yes!” the four replied in unison once more.
“Alright. It’s the first day of school, and I’m busy. I have a meeting with the faculty advisor right away. When I come back, I don’t want to see that stack of documents still there. Understood?”
Bai Yuxuan pointed toward the pile of files on his desk.
“Understood. Please go ahead without worry, Senior Yuxuan,” Xia Bingdie said confidently, standing tall.
“Mm.”
After giving her one last look, Bai Yuxuan left the student council office.
Under Xia Bingdie’s direction, the four quickly got to work, sorting the documents and handling them according to their respective roles. The stack of files visibly shrank at a rapid pace.
Before long.
“Phew, done,” Xia Bingdie said. The other three closed their files at the same time, stacking them neatly into a single pile.
“That was easy. The high school student council work isn’t as complicated as I expected,” Jiang Cheng remarked dismissively.
“There’s still some time before Senior Yuxuan returns. I wouldn’t mind waiting, but Jiang Cheng, you must be getting bored, right?”
“Oh? I didn’t expect that from you, Xia Bingdie. Since you’re saying that, I assume you’ve already thought of something more interesting to do?”
“Of course. Lately, everyone at Sakura Academy has been exaggerating Ouyang Qianxue to almost mythical levels, but I don’t believe she’s as impressive as they claim.”
“Oh? So you want to test her yourself?”
“Exactly. I believe her victory over Senior Yuxuan wasn’t due to her own ability. I’ll make her understand that now that we’re here, Senior Yuxuan is no longer alone.”
“Haha, challenging Ouyang Qianxue? I’d love to see you clash with the president of three clubs. Want me to go call her over right now?”
“Oh? How rude. She’s our senior, we should show proper respect. Since she’s a senior, we’ll go pay her a visit ourselves. Naturally, that means visiting each of her three clubs in turn.”
And so, led by Xia Bingdie, the four headed toward the clubrooms.
“Just wait, Ouyang Qianxue, I will defeat you completely!”
“Mmm!”
At that moment, Ouyang Qianxue was in the hospital having his bandages changed. The doctor was disinfecting his wounds with alcohol and saline, the intense pain causing him to clench his teeth tightly.
“Though you look like a girl on the outside, you’re definitely a boy,” the doctor remarked after finishing the treatment.
“Honestly, I was just enduring it. I was already on the verge of tears from the pain just now,” Qianxue said with a faint smile.
“Perhaps. But in all my years as a doctor, after seeing so many patients on the brink of death, you’re the first I’ve seen who looked so relaxed even while unconscious, there was even a hint of a smile on your lips. What exactly have you gone through…”
“You’d better not pursue that further, it’s for your own good,” Qianxue interrupted gently before the doctor could finish.
“No, it’s just… seeing someone your age, about the same as my daughter, showing that kind of expression… it leaves me with mixed feelings.”
“I can’t tell you about those things. But I heard that person threatened you, I’m sorry. It’s my fault you got dragged into this. Still, I must ask you to keep my gender a secret. To me, that’s more important than my life.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll keep your secret. It’s just that… you’ve been hospitalized for so many days, yet your parents haven’t come to visit even once. As a father myself, seeing a child without parental care yet remaining so strong… I can’t help, but feel for you.”
“It’s alright. Even if my parents aren’t here, my sister and friends visit me often. And I’ve also made a new friend, though he’s usually a bit mischievous, he’s been very concerned about me during my stay here.”
