Volume 5 Chapter 70
by Need_More_SleepVolume 5 + Chapter 70: Crash!
“Compared to someone as unpleasant as you, I like a chuunibyou little fox like Yue Liu much more!!”
Xia Yi loudly declared this in front of both Bai Lian and Yue Liu.
“Ying ying ying!”
Hearing those words, the little fox became incredibly excited. She was so shocked and overwhelmed that it felt as if steam might start rising from her head.
“Fox-radish, I can’t understand what you’re saying,” Xia Yi replied.
“Y-you can’t make jokes like that!”
“I’m not joking. That’s honestly how I feel.”
That truly was what Xia Yi thought in her heart.
Compared with Bai Lian, the kind of fox who irritated people from head to toe, it felt much more comfortable to be around someone like Yue Liu with her dramatic chuunibyou personality.
So there was absolutely nothing wrong with saying it.
She genuinely liked Yue Liu more.
“Wuu…”
The little fox buried her face deep in Xia Yi’s silver hair, unable to lift her head.
Xia Yi wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but she felt the little fox lying on her head becoming noticeably warmer.
Why was that?
Was her injury acting up?
“To say something like that truly saddens me, Xia Yi. I had even intended to spare your life,” Bai Lian said with a sigh.
“What do you mean ‘spare my life’?”
“If I hadn’t specifically instructed Wu Tong not to strike you with lethal force, how do you think you could still be standing in front of me now?” Bai Lian asked.
“What are you talking about?”
Xia Yi felt that Bai Lian was speaking complete nonsense.
The White Night Cult’s swordmaster had nearly wiped out all the dragons on the Flying Swallow train. They had even resorted to poison, such a despicable method. How could that possibly be called holding back?
“It doesn’t matter. In fact, it only makes things more interesting. Ever since I was little, anything I wanted was something I could obtain. Very few people have ever refused my requests. And anyone who displeases me, I can easily take their life.”
Bai Lian didn’t seem upset in the slightest. On the contrary, the situation appeared to excite her even more.
“Xia Yi, you might be the first person like this. It’s quite amusing. Later, when I capture you, I’ll force sacred water down your throat and make you drown in it, then you’ll also become a devout believer of the Fox God.”
“In your dreams!”
Xia Yi raised the Rose Staff and pointed it directly at Bai Lian.
She realized Bai Lian’s values were terribly twisted, completely abnormal. The two of them were the kind of people who could never communicate with each other. There was no point continuing the conversation.
“Super Fireball!”
Above Xia Yi’s head, a gigantic mass of blazing flame began to gather, burning fiercely as if it would incinerate everything around it into ashes.
“That’s quite astonishing magical power. Are you a mage or a swordswoman?”
Bai Lian touched the box hanging at her waist and drew several talismans from it.
It was a talisman case, filled with charms she had personally written. By injecting magic into them when necessary, they could be activated instantly.
“Burn to ashes in the flames!”
Xia Yi hurled the massive super fireball straight toward Bai Lian.
“Ice Water!”
Bai Lian first tossed out a talisman glowing with icy blue light. It released a huge surge of freezing energy that collided with the enormous fireball.
However, it wasn’t enough to stop Xia Yi’s magic. The moment the ice water touched the blazing heat, it instantly turned into vast clouds of steam that spread across the battlefield.
BOOM!!
Through the haze, Xia Yi vaguely saw the gigantic fireball slam into Bai Lian’s figure, engulfing her in roaring flames.
“Did it work?!” Xia Yi widened her eyes.
“No. That wasn’t her real body. That was one of her techniques. My destined rival, the one you struck just now wasn’t the real one, it was merely a clone created from a talisman.”
Since Xia Yi wasn’t very familiar with the fox clan’s magical arts, the little fox explained.
Unable to move, this was the only way she could help Xia Yi.
“Destroying the clone only damages the talisman. It doesn’t harm the real body.”
“I knew it. Bai Lian wouldn’t be that easy to deal with. That fox looks incredibly sly!” Xia Yi said.
“That is correct. Fighting me in Peach Blossom Utopia is already a mistake. I am the shrine maiden of the Azure Fox God. In this sacred land, I receive the Fox God’s blessing and possess an endless supply of magical power.”
Within the white mist, countless figures appeared.
All of them were Bai Lian.
They spoke in unison, mocking Xia Yi.
“Every one of these is me. Every one of me can use magical arts. Here, I can unleash thousands upon thousands of techniques simultaneously. How exactly do you plan to fight me?”
“Fight? Why do I have to fight you at all?” Xia Yi laughed. “How many times have I already said it? I came here for one purpose, to take Yue Liu away.”
“And how do you plan to escape? Don’t tell me you’re relying on that green dragon. Even if she came, it wouldn’t change anything. You have no way of escaping,” Bai Lian sneered.
“How could there be no way? Everything has been under my control from the start!!”
Xia Yi raised her arm and pointed high toward the sky.
“Open your eyes and watch carefully!”
The whistle of a train echoed across the skies above Peach Blossom Utopia.
Both the little fox and Bai Lian witnessed an unbelievable sight.
In the sky, a train was racing forward. It burst out from deep within the clouds like a flying dragon, plunging downward.
Beneath the train, railway tracks were continuously forming out of pure magic.
And the source of that magic was,
“You did this?!”
Bai Lian’s eyes widened as she stared at the Rose Staff in Xia Yi’s hand, where a blooming rose glowed brightly, clear evidence that magic power was being continuously channeled.
So Xia Yi had been maintaining the magic supply all along.
“Today, I’m going to crash right through you!”
Xia Yi swung the Rose Staff.
The icy rails shifted direction, guiding the Flying Swallow train down to the ground.
The tracks cut straight through Bai Lian’s countless clones. Then the train charged forward at tremendous speed, smashing into them and shattering the duplicates into pieces.
At that exact moment, Xia Yi seized the opportunity. Carrying the little fox, she leapt onto the train and redirected the generation of the magical tracks, guiding the train back up into the sky.
“Elly!” Xia Yi shouted loudly.
“Received, Your Highness!!”
Elly soared upward from below, quickly flying back beside the train.
The other dragons of the diplomatic delegation also leapt from the train, releasing their true dragon forms and transforming into massive dragons. They escorted the train in flight, creating an awe-inspiring spectacle before the stunned White Night Cult followers.
From the very beginning, Xia Yi had brought the other dragons with her to Peach Blossom Utopia.
They had simply remained hidden high in the sky, waiting on standby for Xia Yi’s signal, appearing only at the perfect moment.
“Hmph, Bai Lian, well? What do you think?”
Standing atop the locomotive, Xia Yi looked down from above. This time it was her turn to wear a mocking smile.
“……” Bai Lian fell silent.
“All dragons, hear my command…”
Xia Yi’s voice rang out across the sky.
“Flatten Peach Blossom Utopia!”
