Volume 5 Chapter 69
by Need_More_SleepVolume 5 + Chapter 69: I Like Her More
Using sheer brute force, Xia Yi tore a massive hole in the prison cart with her small hands. Stepping inside, she saw the pink little nine-tailed fox bound tightly in chains. Without hesitation, she grabbed the chains and ripped them apart as well.
“Fox radish, I’m here to save you!”
Xia Yi lifted the little fox into her arms.
“Ying ying!”
The little fox became incomparably excited. She had never imagined that her desperate fantasy would actually become reality, her destined rival had truly come to rescue her!
For a moment, her nose stung with emotion and her eyes began to well with tears.
“Ying ying ying ying…”
“I can’t understand fox language.”
The little fox had turned into a nonstop “ying-ying machine,” leaving Xia Yi rather helpless.
“Can you still move right now?”
“Ying ying…”
The little fox shook her head. Then she switched to the common language of the land to speak with Xia Yi.
“I… cannot move right now.”
“It’s fine. Then I’ll just carry you out of here.”
Xia Yi held the little fox and leapt out of the prison cart, landing on top of it.
“The filthy outsider is trying to kidnap the shrine maiden of the false god!”
“Hurry and inform Lady Bai Lian!!”
“Damn the fox clan’s royal family, they really did collude with the dragons! We must stop them!!”
Followers of the White Night Cult began gathering around the prison cart, weapons in hand, preparing to fight Xia Yi.
Originally, the White Night Cult had intended to escort the little fox to the central square of Peach Blossom Haven, where they would perform a sacrificial ritual and offer her up as a living sacrifice.
After learning this crucial information, Xia Yi deliberately provoked trouble to ensure she could successfully intercept the cart. She had Elly release her dragon form and wreak havoc in the noodle shop, creating massive chaos.
Nearly everyone’s attention was drawn to Elly. The White Night Cult had no choice but to dispatch forces to suppress her rampage.
That created the perfect opportunity for Xia Yi. Taking advantage of the confusion, she immediately moved to intercept the prison cart and successfully rescued the little fox.
“Fox radish, stay on top of my head and hold on tight. Leave the fighting below to me.”
Xia Yi placed the little fox on top of her head, raised her hand, and summoned the Rose Staff.
*Whoosh!*
An arrow coated with deadly poison shot toward Xia Yi, an attack launched by a White Night Cult follower.
She quickly dodged to the side. The little fox clung tightly to her head, pressing against Xia Yi as they moved together.
Then Xia Yi raised the Rose Staff.
“Fireball!”
With the advantage of casting without incantation, Xia Yi unleashed several simple yet effective fireballs. They shot forward and blasted apart the archer who had just attacked.
Nearby cultists were caught in the explosion as well. Flames engulfed them, forcing them to flee toward water sources.
Just like that, Xia Yi fought against the White Night Cult while carrying the pink little nine-tailed fox on her head.
“Ying ying…”
Watching from such close proximity as Xia Yi continuously used magic to repel the cultists, the little fox felt an immense sense of safety rising within her heart.
Her destined rival… was doing everything she could to protect her.
Thinking of this, the little fox suddenly felt her heartbeat accelerating for no clear reason.
“Ah! That tickles!”
Xia Yi felt the little fox’s pink tail repeatedly brushing against her neck.
“Fox radish, stop swishing your tail around everywhere! It’s really affecting my performance!”
“…Ying?”
Only then did the little fox notice that her tail had been wagging nonstop.
What was going on?
Why did she suddenly feel so happy?
“Ying ying! Ying ying!”
The little fox’s expression suddenly changed drastically. Sensing a dangerous fluctuation, she loudly warned Xia Yi.
“Hm?!”
Although Xia Yi couldn’t understand what the little fox was saying, she could guess the meaning. Acting with perfect tacit understanding, she immediately poured fire-attribute magic into the Rose Staff.
“Blazing Fire Wall!”
Raging flames erupted and formed a wall of fire around Xia Yi, encircling her like a protective shield.
From the sky, several talismans descended, releasing violent surges of energy that triggered wave after wave of explosions.
If Xia Yi hadn’t cast her defensive magic in advance, she might have been caught in the blasts.
“We meet again, Silver Dragon Princess Xia Yi.”
A pale-green nine-tailed fox girl dressed in shrine maiden robes slowly descended from the sky, holding a ritual wand. She stopped in front of Xia Yi.
This was another shrine maiden of the Nine-Tailed Fox clan, the one who stood completely opposed to Yue Liu, Bai Lian, shrine maiden of the Azure Fox God.
“It’s you.” Xia Yi frowned slightly.
“Do you still remember me? That makes me quite happy.”
Bai Lian gazed at Xia Yi, a smile appearing at the corner of her lips.
But when she noticed the little fox sitting atop Xia Yi’s head, her expression darkened.
“How unpleasant. There’s an extra nuisance here. It really ruins the mood.”
“Ying ying ying!”
“Such terrible manners, actually swearing like that,” Bai Lian said with increasing irritation. “Xia Yi, you didn’t come all the way here just to rescue Yue Liu, did you?”
“So what if I did?” Xia Yi replied.
“There’s no need for that. She’s about to become a sacrifice for Lord Qing Fox God,” Bai Lian said, shaking her head. “Becoming the Fox God’s sacrifice is already her final value.”
“Don’t try to persuade me with your mystical nonsense,” Xia Yi said coldly. “I don’t care about your ‘true fox god’ or ‘false gods.’ I came here for only one reason, ”
Xia Yi’s voice rang out firmly.
“I’m taking Yue Liu away. Today, no one is going to stop me!”
“Ying…”
Hearing Xia Yi’s declaration, the little fox felt deeply moved. The tears she had just managed to hold back threatened to spill again.
But Bai Lian found it increasingly irritating.
“Xia Yi, am I not better than Yue Liu? Why are you so obsessed with the shrine maiden of a false god?”
Bai Lian explained calmly.
“My father is the leader of the White Night Cult. Now the cult controls all of Fox Hill, even the fox royal family is under our control. I have inherited the legacy of the Fox God and will become the future leader of the White Night Cult.”
“Compared to that, Yue Liu has been abandoned by everyone. Her princess title is nothing more than blank paper now, completely meaningless. Even in strength, she is inferior to me, who has inherited the Azure Fox God’s power.”
“……”
The little fox couldn’t refute Bai Lian.
Every single point she made was true.
Everything Yue Liu once had had been taken away, replaced by Bai Lian.
“I thought you were going to say something impressive,” Xia Yi said with a scoff. “But that’s it?”
Facing Bai Lian, she showed not the slightest hesitation. Instead, she laughed with open disdain.
“I’ve got something to tell you too.”
“What is it?” Bai Lian asked curiously.
“Compared to someone as annoying as you, ”
Xia Yi declared without hesitation.
“I like chuunibyou little foxes like Yue Liu way more!!”
