Chapter 58 – The Owner of the Stray Kitten
by Salted FishThe Owner of the Stray Kitten (5)
Lin Mo lay on the ground, completely listless. Didn’t she say she was coming to take him home today?
It was already eight in the morning. Why hadn’t she come yet? Was she lying to him?
Su Bai came in with cat food and filled his bowl. Seeing the little black cat looking so listless, he reached out to pet it.
“Meow!” The little black cat shot up like a rocket and instantly retreated into the cage. He wouldn’t even eat the cat food. He turned his butt to Su Bai.
Lin Mo would never let that man touch him. He didn’t even know if the man had washed his hands after using the bathroom. Lin Mo admitted that he was deliberately making malicious assumptions about Su Bai.
Hmph, he just didn’t like him!
Su Bai was so shocked he nearly dropped his glasses. It seemed he had, apparently, possibly—
He was hated by a cat, and this cat’s life was one he had saved.
This was the legendary ungrateful cat!
The man and the cat spent the whole morning locked in this silent standoff, but Su Bai didn’t forget his promise to Xu Xinghe. He added food for the cat on time and observed its wounds.
Su Bai attended to Lin Mo’s every need. Lin Mo hadn’t lived such a luxurious life since becoming a cat. Back when he was still human, he got whatever he wanted.
When Xu Xinghe arrived, she saw the man and the cat sitting in the farthest corner of the room. She looked at them in confusion.
“Dr. Su?” Xu Xinghe spoke up to get his attention, noticing he was still dazedly staring at the kitten.
“Miss Xu, you’re here.” Su Bai stood up from the ground awkwardly and patted the non-existent dust. If he said he was having a sulking contest with a cat, he’d be ridiculed.
Lin Mo noticed Xu Xinghe the moment she walked in. He thought she would come to see him immediately. He held his head up high, tail raised proudly, his back turned to her.
He waited for a long while, but there was no movement. Lin Mo secretly looked back.
That annoying man again!
“Meow!”
Xu Xinghe heard the familiar meow and walked straight towards him.
“Mo Mo~ I’ve come to take you home.” She reached out, patted his head, and smiled.
Lin Mo deliberately raised his head higher and squinted his eyes, adjusting himself to the most pet-able position.
He let out a “Meow” as if to respond to her. Seeing how much she wanted him to go back with her, then he would reluctantly go.
Xu Xinghe bought a cat carrier from the pet shop and put Lin Mo inside. He was completely cooperative the whole time. Xu Xinghe couldn’t resist the urge and petted his head a few more times.
“Thank you, Dr. Su. I appreciate all your help these past few days,” Xu Xinghe said to Su Bai, who came out to see her off.
Su Bai adjusted his glasses and waved his hand. “Don’t mention it. I’m a veterinarian. It’s my job.”
Xu Xinghe nodded and carried Lin Mo on her electric scooter.
Lin Mo curiously poked his head out of the carrier’s opening. What kind of vehicle was this? She looked rather good driving it.
Since she liked it, if he could return to his human body, he would buy her a hundred of them.
…
Ye Qinghe successfully opened her shop. She even posted a video on a short video app, thinking it would attract customers. Instead, the comments section was full of curses.
And they were all scolding her!
Ye Qinghe was trembling with anger. What did these country bumpkins who knew nothing about business opportunities understand? Why was she even bothering with them?
Wearing her newly bought fur coat and sky-high heels, she strutted into the shop. She had imagined it would be packed with customers, but unexpectedly there was no one.
She grabbed a staff member and demanded, “Where are the customers? Why is there no one here?”
The staff member was a young girl who had just graduated. She answered honestly, “They are all next door. We haven’t made a single sale today.”
Ye Qinghe didn’t believe her. She looked to the left at a famous milk tea chain. It was packed with a long line. She looked to the right at another famous chain, same situation.
“They just haven’t discovered our shop’s unique features yet. Don’t worry, our shop will become famous soon!” Ye Qinghe said proudly, lifting her chin.
The young staff member was just a summer hire. She obediently nodded and went back to her own tasks. Anyway, as long as her wages weren’t withheld, the boss could say whatever she wanted.
