Volume 3 + Chapter 47: The Belated Qianxue

At that moment, inside the study of Bai Yuxuan’s apartment, Qianyue was concentrating on her schoolwork. Just then…

Knock, knock! A soft knock at the door interrupted her focus.

“Senior Yuxuan!” Seeing that it was Bai Yuxuan, Qianyue immediately stood up.

“Sit down. There’s no need to be so formal with me.” With that, Bai Yuxuan placed a cup of hot tea beside Qianyue’s hand.

“Senior Yuxuan, I’d be embarrassed to have you bring me tea personally…”

“You silly child, I told you not to be so restrained with me. By the way, I have some good news for you.”

“What good news?” Qianyue tilted her head and asked.

“I’ve already taken care of things at school. Aside from the girl who led the bullying, she had some psychological issues and was sent to a psychiatric hospital. All the other girls who bullied you have transferred schools. I’ve also cleared up the rumors for you. You can go back to school anytime now.”

“Really… Thank you so much, Senior Yuxuan. You’ve done so much for me, I don’t even know how to repay you.”

“It’s nothing. After all, we’re going to be family…”

“Huh?” Qianyue was startled at Bai Yuxuan’s words.

“Ah, no, I mean, since we’re already close, helping out with such a small favor is hardly worth mentioning.”

“How can you call this a small favor? If it weren’t for your help this time, I wouldn’t have known what to do. Don’t worry senior, I’ll definitely repay you someday.”

“Repay me for what? I already owe your sister a debt. This little favor is nothing.”

“No, this is my debt to you, senior Yuxuan. It has nothing to do with my sister. Since you’ve already resolved the school issues, I should probably head back.” With that, Qianyue began packing her schoolbag.

“Don’t be in such a hurry.” Bai Yuxuan quickly stopped her. After all, she hadn’t yet maxed out her favorability with her future sister-in-law. Though she hadn’t thought much about it when she first helped Qianyue get revenge, it suddenly occurred to her that if she could win over her sister-in-law first, then pursuing Qianxue later would be much smoother.

“Tomorrow marks the start of the National Day holiday. Even if you go back to school now, there won’t be any classes. Why not stay here with me? I can tutor you over the next few days. You’ve fallen behind quite a bit, haven’t you? If you don’t catch up properly, you’ll definitely struggle when you return.”

“Alright… I’ll stay one more day.” After Bai Yuxuan had pleaded and cajoled for quite a while, Qianyue finally reluctantly agreed to stay one more day.

Meanwhile, at Xijiang City’s First High School,

“Hey! Isn’t that Senior Ouyang from Sakura Academy?”

“I think it’s really her. That golden hair is her trademark!”

“She’s so beautiful. I was blown away watching her performance videos online before, but seeing her in person, she’s like a fairy descended from heaven.”

The students of Xijiang City’s First High School were all buzzing with excitement upon spotting Ouyang Qianxue.

At that moment, Ouyang Qianxue was rushing urgently toward the teachers’ office. He had gone to his sister’s classroom only to learn that she had been missing for several days, and his heart was burning with anxiety.

(Qianyue, you can’t be in trouble…)

Praying as he ran, he arrived at the door of Qianyue’s homeroom teacher’s office. He had already decided, if the teacher couldn’t tell him where Qianyue was, he would call the police immediately. Then ask Wang Shiman to help trace Qianyue’s whereabouts, no matter the cost.

“Excuse me, are you Qianyue’s homeroom teacher?” Qianxue, abandoning all formality, rushed directly into the office and asked.

“Yes, I am. And you are…?”

“I’m her sister. I heard Qianyue has gone missing?”

“Oh, so you’re her sister. But didn’t he tell you?”

    “Tell me what? Who?”

    “Your fiancé?”

“Teacher, this is an emergency. Please don’t joke with me.”

“It seems he really didn’t tell you. Last week when Qianyue went missing, I went to Sakura Academy to find her guardian. The student council president there claimed to be the child’s brother-in-law, that is your fiancé. Then a few days ago, he called me and said Qianyue had been found.”

“Really? Qianyue has been found.” Ouyang Qianxue let out a sigh of relief. For the past two days, he had been burning with worry over Qianyue, unable to sit still even on the flight back. Now the weight on his heart was finally lifted. But just as he began to relax, his expression suddenly shifted.

“Wait, teacher. What did you just say? You went to Sakura Academy’s student council president? And he said, he’s my what?”

    “He said he’s Qianyue’s brother-in-law, your fiancé.”

“Outrageous! That damned Bai Yuxuan! What nonsense is he spouting?” Qianxue clenched his fists. He wished he could make Bai Yuxuan appear right in front of him so he could punch her in the face.

“Oh my, with such a handsome fiancé, why are you embarrassed to talk about it?” the teacher teased with a smile.

“He and I are not in that kind of relationship!” Qianxue’s cheeks puffed up like a steamed bun.

“I understand, I understand. You think you’re too young to have a betrothal, so you’re shy about telling people, right? But it’s really nothing. Everyone is so open-minded these days. And from where I stand, you two are a perfect match, a handsome man and a beautiful woman made for each other!”

“Teacher, it’s really not what you think!” Qianxue tried to argue, on the verge of tears, but the upward curve of the teacher’s lips showed she wasn’t convinced.

“Alright, let’s set that aside for now. Since you came all this way about Qianyue, let me tell you the whole story.”

The teacher then told Ouyang Qianxue everything about the bullying Qianyue had suffered and how Bai Yuxuan had stepped in to resolve it.

“So that’s what happened!” Ouyang Qianxue’s heart ached with pain as he listened.

“I had no idea Qianyue was enduring such suffering! I should have realized it that day when she called me. If only I had noticed sooner, then she wouldn’t have…” Qianxue lowered his head, his expression full of guilt.

“You can’t blame yourself entirely. You look only fifteen or sixteen, you’re still a child yourself. This incident with Qianyue was also our failing as teachers. I’ve done some soul-searching too. In the future, if you notice anything off with Qianyue, feel free to come talk to me.”

“Thank you so much, teacher!” Qianxue gave the teacher a polite bow.

“Oh, and one more thing. Your fiancé went through a lot of trouble for your sister this time. When you go back, you should thank him properly.”

“Teacher, he really isn’t my… Ah, forget it. I’ll thank him properly.” Feeling utterly exhausted, Qianxue decided to stop arguing. He thanked the teacher once more and left the school.

On the other side, Bai Yuxuan was tutoring Qianyue.

“You’re amazing, senior! Even the methods the teachers use aren’t as simple and easy as yours!”

“Of course. After all, even your sister has never beaten me, not once!” At Bai Yuxuan’s words, Qianyue looked at her with even greater admiration. In Qianyue’s heart, her brother had always been perfect. Now, learning that Bai Yuxuan claimed her brother had never won against her, how could Qianyue not be impressed?

“After these two days together, I realize I’ve been misunderstanding you, senior.”

    “Misunderstanding?”

“Yes. Because my sister always told me that the student council president of Sakura Academy is a treacherous, scheming villain who stops at nothing!”

“Oh, really? It seems Qianxue has quite a deep misunderstanding of me. I’ll need to have an in-depth conversation with her about how she should introduce me to others.” Innocent Qianyue didn’t notice that beneath Bai Yuxuan’s kindly smile lurked a trace of chill.
