Chapter 84: The Exorcist Detective Who Also Worked as a Priest
by WuWangChapter 84: The Exorcist Detective Who Also Worked as a Priest
After several attempts with the Crystal Ball, Director Trif finally responded.
It looked like he was at a beach. Not far away, many hot ladies were playing beach volleyball.
Further out on the sea, there was a huge cruise ship.
The cruise ship had a big smokestack. It seemed like a steam cruise ship, but he didn’t know if it burned coal or diesel, or something else.
Just as Louis widened his eyes, trying to get a closer look, an oily middle-aged man suddenly blocked the view.
It seemed like the heavy wizard robe was something Director Trif had just put on. He kept wiping sweat because he was so hot. Seeing Louis and the other person in the Crystal Ball craning their necks to look at the beach, he quickly blocked the view again and added some unconvincing explanations.
“Oh~ Those are all servants from Duke Wendell’s Manor, ahem, wizards from the Southern Region dress a bit more liberally.”
“—Director Trif, why are you dressed so strangely? Who are you talking to? Come have some cake.” A group of hot girls called out sweetly from the distance.
“Just brainstorming the Script, looking for some inspiration—wait a moment!”
Helen nodded foolishly, but Louis couldn’t help but twitch the corner of his eye.
Trif quickly changed the subject and explained the matter in a few sentences.
“…I remember there’s a manual in the office with relevant rules and regulations. You two take a good look at it, then write a reading report and put it in the third drawer of my special bookcase. I’ll receive it then—if you don’t understand anything, ask Sir Stuart.”
After saying that, Trif was about to leave—those big stars over there were waiting for him.
Helen hurriedly called out, “Mr. Trif, but I’ve never been to a Muggle city before. What should I pay attention to?”
“Ask Louis, he came from abroad, he’s familiar—Louis, explain more to Helen.”
With that, Trif stood up. The big floral shorts under his wizard robe were revealed, along with a strange car key that looked like a wrench or handle with a ‘Ren’ symbol on it.
‘Mercedes-Benz?!’ Just as Louis opened his mouth wide, wanting to take a closer look, the image in the Crystal Ball disappeared.
Louis was still speechless, but Helen had already stood up and was searching everywhere for that manual.
After drinking a few sips of tea, Louis stood up and pulled out the manual that was being used to prop up a table leg from under a table.
After flipping through it with Helen for a while, Louis rubbed his face and summarized the contents.
Mainly, there were these points:
1. Do not tell wizards from inside about things from outside.
2. Do not tell Muggles from outside about things from inside.
Director Trif had obviously violated both of these rules, or simply ignored them. But no one was managing that.
3. If going out on official business, try to use the identity of a Priest, detective, or exorcist.
4. If you encounter a real Moon Goddess Divine Official who knows exorcism, then they are probably a wizard.
Or a wizard with faith.
5. If you encounter someone who claims to be a wizard, then do not doubt, they are probably a fraud.
Or an exorcist with exceptional martial arts skills.
Reading this, Louis was completely confused. He also became more curious about the outside world.
He went to the bookshelf and rummaged around, finding a dusty ‘Moon Goddess Holy Canon’. After looking at it, Louis raised his head in confusion, realizing he had actually learned several special ‘Magic’ spells.
‘Light Magic?’
‘Left behind by Anthony?’
‘Modified according to the Moon Goddess divine arts?’
Helen suddenly pinched Louis and, trembling, signaled him to look at the floor-length Mirror behind them—the scene inside was extremely eerie.
“Mr. Stuart was just joking with you, don’t worry.”
[Muffled laughter, you little brat, I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time. This is no longer some test. Don’t let me catch your weakness…]
The ‘Louis’ in the mirror sneered darkly for a long time.
But unfortunately, the Louis outside didn’t pay any attention to it. Instead, he picked up the old-fashioned telephone and directly dialed Barriff’s number.
The person who answered was a secretary with a sweet voice. After a brief exchange, she said she would contact Earl Crowley. She also reminded Louis to check Director Trif’s third drawer—the big banker had provided some money for Louis’s trip.
“Hmm… it should be the third drawer, that’s what the Chairman said. He said, ‘Mr. Louis and the others are foreigners, their money is not quite the same as ours.’ Please take it, sir, you’ll need it.”
After hanging up, Louis rummaged through that drawer, found an envelope, opened it, and inside was a stack of paper money—two thousand pounds.
Before he could examine it closely, Earl Crowley’s call came through.
The Earl introduced himself first, then asked if this was the ‘Holy Icon Tree Moon Goddess Church Detective Agency’.
Louis was completely confused. He casually flipped through the business card holder on the desk, then fell into deep thought—this was the card Barriff had taken originally.
“Hmm… okay, yes, Your Grace Crowley, indeed it is.”
“Alright, to be honest, I’m really sorry, I had almost forgotten about this matter—please don’t mind. I have heard of the Sacred Tree Theological College, our Her Highness the Princess teaches there. But I have never heard of any ‘Holy Icon Tree Moon Goddess Detective Agency,’ nor of a detective who also works as a Priest…”
“Regardless, I trust Mr. Barriff, or rather, I am willing to trust anyone now… whether you are an exorcist detective or a Priest who also works as a detective is fine. As long as you can help me solve this problem, the reward will not be lacking.”
Finally, Earl Crowley stated the specific location of his Manor. He also mentioned that he wasn’t very clear about where exactly Holy Icon Tree was. But Bishop John and several high Divine Officials coming from the ‘Moon Goddess Holy Court,’ as well as three famous Archmages from Englen City, would all arrive tomorrow morning.
So if ‘Mr. Conan’ was really too far from Englen City, there was no need to hurry. It was fine to come later. The Earl would personally take the two of them to have fun in the Manor for a few days and maybe hunt some foxes.
And if they were interested in Englen City, the Earl’s daughter would also take the two of them to have some fun.
The underlying meaning was already very clear—Crowley had indeed forgotten about Louis and the other person, after all, the people who could solve this matter were already on their way. So the two of them weren’t needed.
But because of his relationship with Barriff, Earl Crowley was still very polite, so he said that as long as they came, he would entertain them properly afterwards.
“Earl Crowley, I will arrive on time tomorrow morning.”
“Good, tomorrow morning, my daughter Kate will pick you up at the Train Station with the driver—is it the eight o’clock train?”
“Yes.”
After hanging up, Louis checked the manual and found that Holy Icon Tree was indeed far from Englen City, and in this era, trains were also very slow. It took five days to get from Holy Icon Tree to Englen City.
Of course, for wizards, taking the train wasn’t necessary. Arriving on time was no problem at all. And for Louis, arriving on time was even easier—there were bound to be Mirrors at the Train Station, Stuart would open a door directly and take Louis and Helen there.
It wouldn’t interfere with tonight’s date.
“Louis, Louis, for the business trip, what should we two wear?” Helen called from near the wardrobe.
Louis got up and went to the wardrobe. Looking at the clothes inside, he fell into deep thought.
It seemed that when Agents went out on official business, they used the clothes here—there were all kinds.
But what was written on that business card?
“This is a Nun, Louis.” Assistant Miss Nun Helen took out a Moon Goddess V-shaped cross and said excitedly, “Is this their Wand? Representing the moon to destroy you! Biubiu~”
Looking at the detective hat on Helen’s head and the Nun’s habit she was wearing, Louis picked up the pipe and fell into deep thought.
The ‘Stuart’ who was sneering darkly in the Mirror, looking at the pipe in the outside Louis’s mouth, also fell into deep thought.
He now knew who Wu Yanzu was.
