Volume 2 + Chapter 33: Lin Tianyu’s Scheme

“So that’s how it is! This explains everything, why Ouyang Qianxue has been rejecting me, and why Bai Yuxuan has been interfering. They were actually a couple all along!” Lin Tianyu said, hanging up the phone.

“Whew…” With that, Lin Tianyu let out a long sigh and fell back onto his bed. His gaze happened to fall on Bai Yuxuan’s image on the computer screen.

“Could it be that he has changed?”

Although the image on the computer was very blurry, his memory of Bai Yuxuan was crystal clear. That was someone he could never surpass, no matter what. Whenever he achieved any accomplishment as a child, his father would say, “You’re still far behind Bai Yuxuan.”

So Lin Tianyu worked relentlessly, wanting to surpass the Bai Yuxuan his father spoke of. However, it wasn’t until the day he met the real person that he understood, Bai Yuxuan was not an opponent he could surpass through effort alone. Yet, he also discovered something else, Bai Yuxuan seemed to have no emotions whatsoever.

Although he was young then and didn’t fully grasp it, he even felt envious of Bai Yuxuan’s talent for a time. But looking back now, he feels no envy at all. In his eyes, someone like Bai Yuxuan, devoid of emotion, is just a puppet controlled by the family, a tool for the Bai family’s rule. A life like that holds no happiness.

Meanwhile, he, Lin Tianyu, lived a carefree and comfortable life as a young master. He could pursue his hobbies as he pleased, and when bored, he could find a few girls to flirt with to relieve his loneliness. Therefore, Lin Tianyu always believed he was living a better life than Bai Yuxuan.

However, all of this changed with the appearance of one person: Ouyang Qianxue. When he first met her, Lin Tianyu was utterly astonished that such an adorable girl existed in the world. Yet, when he tried to get close to her, he found that his usual pursuit tactics had no effect whatsoever on Ouyang Qianxue. It was like throwing a powerful punch into cotton.

The more he got to know her, the more she captivated him. She was like the moon reflected in a lake, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t reach it, but its beauty constantly drew him in. That temptation felt like a cat’s claws scratching at his chest, making his heart itch unbearably.

Just as he was struggling in his pursuit of Ouyang Qianxue, he discovered that she already had someone in her heart, and that person turned out to be Bai Yuxuan, whom he had previously scorned as emotionless and robotic.

“Could it be that he’s actually living a sweet life with Ouyang Qianxue beyond my imagination?” Lin Tianyu muttered to himself. The thought of Bai Yuxuan and Ouyang Qianxue being intimate, laughing and talking together, tilted the balance he had regained in his heart. He refused to believe it. If Bai Yuxuan wasn’t even behind him in this regard, then compared to him, he would truly have nothing.

“No! How can I allow this to happen? How could an emotionless robot like Bai Yuxuan possibly surpass me in matters of the heart?” Lin Tianyu roared angrily.

“Ah, I get it now!” Suddenly, Lin Tianyu wore an expression of sudden realization.

“Ouyang Qianxue must be his arranged fiancée by the Bai family! These two must have come together because of a political marriage alliance between their families. So, there should be no real feelings between them at all!”

“That makes sense. How could someone like Bai Yuxuan have someone he likes? But just to be safe, I should test this. Oh, right, I remember they’re supposed to be a secret couple too.” Thus, a plan began to brew in his mind.

The next day after school, just as Ouyang Qianxue was, as usual, packing up to go to the club, he suddenly discovered a small note in his desk.

Opening it, he saw it read: “Ouyang Qianxue, I know your secret with Bai Yuxuan. Bai Yuxuan riding a bicycle with you looked really romantic. If you don’t want this secret to get out, come to the back garden of the school playground after 7 PM.”

Upon reading the note’s contents, Ouyang Qianxue’s face turned deathly pale. He was terrified that his closeness with Bai Yuxuan might reach Wang Shiman’s ears. After much consideration, he decided not to tell Wang Qian, planning to secretly meet the sender alone.

So, at the appointed time, Ouyang Qianxue went alone to the now-empty back garden.

“It’s already past the time. Why hasn’t that person shown up?” Just as Ouyang Qianxue was looking around, a figure quietly appeared behind him. By the time Ouyang Qianxue sensed something and tried to turn around, the person behind him covered his face with a pre-prepared damp cloth.

“Mmph, !” A chemical smell rushed into Ouyang Qianxue’s nose and mouth. By the time he realized he should hold his breath, it was too late. His body quickly began to lose sensation.

Feeling that Ouyang Qianxue in his arms had stopped struggling, the person behind gradually loosened his grip, then picked up the phone Ouyang Qianxue had dropped on the ground.

This person was none other than Lin Tianyu.

“Haha, what luck! I didn’t expect it to be fingerprint unlocked.” Saying this, Lin Tianyu took the unconscious Ouyang Qianxue in his arms and gently pressed his finger against the phone.

“I remember Ouyang Qianxue has a roommate named Wang Qian who lives on campus.” So, Lin Tianyu found Wang Qian’s name in the contacts and sent her a text message saying that a family member had an emergency and he wouldn’t be staying at school tonight.

Seeing the text from Ouyang Qianxue, Wang Qian was also startled.

“Could it be that Qianxue’s mother’s condition has worsened again? I hope his mother will be okay.” With a worried glance out the window, Wang Qian put down the phone.

Meanwhile, the supply van for the school snack shop happened to be leaving the campus. As it drove out of the school gate, the driver quietly said to the person in the passenger seat:

“Young Master Lin, helping you with this carries a lot of risk this time…”

“Don’t worry, I won’t treat you unfairly afterward.” With that, Lin Tianyu glanced at the black bag in the back of the van.

That same night, Bai Yuxuan also received a text message.

The message read: “Your woman is with me. If you want her back safely, come to the location I specify at 10 AM tomorrow. I’ll send you the exact location promptly at 9:30 AM tomorrow!” The text was accompanied by a photo of an unconscious Ouyang Qianxue.

After sending the text, Lin Tianyu smiled. He had already found out that due to some mistake months ago, Bai Yuxuan had lost his status as heir and became a “candidate heir.” To regain his position as heir, he had to undergo regular family assessments periodically. Coincidentally, the next family assessment was scheduled for tomorrow morning.

“Now let’s see what you choose. If you choose Ouyang Qianxue, you’ll lose your heir qualification and become an ordinary person. If you choose your heir status, it will only prove you’re still that cold-blooded machine. So, no matter which choice you make, becoming an ordinary person or remaining a cold-blooded machine, in the end, you still won’t compare to me!” As he spoke, Lin Tianyu revealed a sinister smile.
