    Volume 4 + Chapter 236: Capital Siege

    “Minotaur warriors, charge with me!!”

The Minotaur Chieftain roared his battle cry. As the bravest of minotaur warriors, he led the charge at the very forefront of the battlefield.

On his shoulder rested a massive totem that cast a deep green glow. Bathed in this light, the minotaur warriors grew exceptionally fierce, their hearts free of any fear or hesitation toward battle, filled instead with soaring fighting spirit.

This was the Minotaur Chieftain’s most powerful skill, Inspiration Aura!

Under this pervasive green radiance, every minotaur warrior’s abilities were enhanced, and all traces of fear vanished.

At this moment, the minotaurs only wished to follow their chieftain in a furious charge, to trample into dust all enemy troops who dared stand in their way!

    “Forward, forward!”

On the side of the Anti–Vampire Clan Alliance, the Minotaur Chieftain led his warriors in an assault on the outskirts of the capital of the Holy Crimson Empire.

Armies of other races swiftly followed suit.

“Don’t fall behind! We trolls are no pushovers. Let everyone witness the might of our troll pride!”

    “Dwarves, assemble!”

The war horns had been sounded.

On the other side, the vampire forces had long been stationed in the area, ready to engage the Anti–Vampire Clan Alliance in a decisive battle.

“In the name of the Divine Ancestor, drive out every enemy! We must not allow foreign races to set foot in our capital, not even half a step!!”

Among the vampire ranks, soldiers tightened their grip on their weapons, prepared to withstand the first wave of the Anti–Vampire Clan Alliance’s assault.

    “Archers, loose! Loose!”

The elven general, Kennedy, commanded his elven troops to unleash the first round of long-range attacks against the vampire army with their bows.

Of all the races in the world, elves were the most skilled archers.

At Kennedy’s order, the elves drew arrows from their quivers, nocked them, drew their bows, infused them with magic, and released a unified volley skyward. A dark blanket of arrows rained down upon the vampire forces.

These were no ordinary arrows, their specially crafted heads, imbued with magic, triggered explosions either upon command or upon impact.

A relentless series of detonations erupted within the vampire ranks.

Besides the elves, the giant race was also on the move. As another higher-ranked species, the giants seized massive boulders and, with astonishing strength, hurled them into the distance like cannonballs. Together with the elves’ arrow barrage, they inflicted significant damage on the vampire army.

The Anti–Vampire Clan Alliance’s ground forces clashed with the vampire troops, the clangor of weapons resounding across the battlefield.

“Captain, lead the dragon corps to bombard the vampire rear.”

After assessing the situation, Xia Lulu issued the order to the captain of the Anti-Vampire Special Operations Unit.

The captain immediately returned a military salute. “Understood!”

The captain unleashed his true dragon form and, along with other dragon soldiers, took to the skies. Leading the dragon corps, he commenced a second round of bombardment.

The battle for the capital siege had begun.

    …

    …

Inside the imperial palace of the Holy Crimson Empire.

    “What is the current situation?”

Herman looked at the minister before him and inquired.

The minister replied, “Lord Herman, we are executing the Divine Ancestor’s orders. The entire capital has been sealed off…”

“I’m not asking about that, you fool!” Herman roared, frightening the minister so badly he stumbled and fell to the floor.

“I’m asking why the Silver Dragon Princess still hasn’t been captured! The lockdown has been in place for some time, yet you have found nothing so far. Are you neglecting the Divine Ancestor’s command?!”

“N-no, of course not, Lord Herman! How could we dare…!”

The minister prostrated himself on the ground, trembling uncontrollably.

“The search of the capital is underway. It’s just that the capital is vast, and a thorough sweep requires time… But I swear, it won’t be long before we capture the Silver Dragon Princess!”

“Useless, all of you! When you’re needed, you show no efficiency at all, utterly worthless! If not for the Divine Ancestor’s sake, you’d have been torn to pieces long ago!”

Herman’s icy glare nearly made the minister faint from terror.

Yet, he refrained from taking action and simply ordered the minister to leave.

    “Get out of here, now!”

“Thank you, Divine Ancestor! Thank you, Lord Herman!”

The minister hastily expressed his gratitude, then scrambled away in a panic.

At this moment, Herman had already placed the Vampire Divine Ancestor into the Clear Spirit Spring.

This was a unique magical spring located within the vampire imperial palace, possessing a certain degree of purifying power.

Now that the Vampire Divine Ancestor was trapped in a nightmare, Herman had no other recourse, he was not a dream demon nor did he possess the ability to enter dreams. He could only rely on the Divine Ancestor awakening naturally, and placing her in the Clear Spirit Spring was meant to hasten the process slightly.

“Before the Divine Ancestor awakens, I must resolve everything…”

    Herman muttered to himself.

Just then, a vampire military officer rushed in.

    “Lord Herman! Urgent report!!”

    “What is it?”

“The Anti–Vampire Clan Alliance forces have made contact with our troops in the outer regions of the capital and have already engaged in battle! Their offensive is fierce, our forces are struggling to hold them back and are being pushed back steadily. If this continues, our defensive line will be breached!”

    “…They’ve launched their attack already?”

    Herman frowned.

He had assumed the Anti–Vampire Clan Alliance would wait until daylight, but they came under cover of night?

The vampire officer explained, “Lord Herman, numerous powerful leaders from other races within the Anti–Vampire Clan Alliance are personally present, the Minotaur Tribe Chieftain, the elven general, the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan princess, the Dwarf King, the Giant King, the Human King…”

    “Very well, I understand.”

    Herman nodded.

No wonder the vampire defenders on the outskirts couldn’t hold them off.

He had miscalculated, the enemy had played a reverse-psychology move. Perhaps he should have deployed vampire elites earlier in anticipation of the Anti–Vampire Clan Alliance’s assault.

“Lord Herman, what should we do next?”

“Hmph, do these people truly believe they can conquer the capital?”

Contempt and disdain were written across Herman’s face.

Even though the Vampire Divine Ancestor remained unconscious, Herman was fully confident in handling the current situation.

Having received the Divine Ancestor’s divine empowerment, Herman, already formidable, now stood above even the kings of other higher-ranked species.

He could be considered the most powerful being beneath the Vampire Divine Ancestor himself.

“Summon all vampire princes in the capital before me. This time, I will take to the battlefield personally, completely crush the Anti–Vampire Clan Alliance, slaughter every last one of them, and make them realize just how weak and powerless they truly are!!”
