    Volume 4 + Chapter 140: Elly’s Hypothesis

As usual, Xia Yi rode on Elly’s back, leading the Anti-Vampire Special Operations Unit as they departed from the Dragon Kingdom and traversed other countries.

    “Mom, look! Flying giant lizards!”

“Don’t look! Those are terrifying dragons! Look one more time, and they’ll snatch you away and eat you!”

The foreign races on the ground, seeing so many dragons flying in formation like an army, blotting out the sky as they passed over their nations, couldn’t help but feel some degree of fear.

If this were in the past, these foreign races might have assumed the dragons were planning an act of aggression and begun counterattack operations.

Now that the Dragon Kingdom had joined the Anti–Vampire Clan Alliance, the foreign races had all been notified that dragons would pass through their airspace, so this journey proceeded unhindered.

    “Your Highness.”

Elly, now transformed into a great green dragon, looked down at the towns below and suddenly initiated conversation with Xia Yi.

“The foreign races look so tiny, just like ants. It feels like if we landed, we could easily crush them.”

Although Xia Yi knew Elly meant no real hostility, if those foreign races heard this, it would undoubtedly cause immense panic.

“Elly, is this your first time abroad?” Xia Yi asked.

“Yes, Your Highness,” Elly replied. “It’s my first time leaving the Dragon Kingdom and seeing these foreign races. They just feel… so weak.”

In fact, Elly’s view could be said to represent the opinion of most dragons towards foreign races.

After all, dragons were an inherently arrogant race. As the strongest superior race, they naturally looked down upon foreign races, especially those who weren’t even superior races themselves.

“Even races that look weak might suddenly unleash formidable abilities! If you underestimate them carelessly, you could very well suffer defeat, even lose your life!” Xia Yi said.

    “Is that… really possible?”

    “Absolutely!!”

Xia Yi felt a little proud.

“Once, there was a Sword Saint who came to the Dragon Kingdom to challenge the Silver Dragon Queen. The dragons looked down on him and sent only a guard. As a result, the guard was killed by the Sword Saint! So, how about it? Wasn’t that Sword Saint impressive?”

“Oh, oh!” Elly suddenly remembered. “Your Highness, I know about this! It’s about that human Sword Saint, right?”

    “Yes!”

Xia Yi revealed a look of great anticipation. She was ready to hear just how Elly would praise her next.

Such a resolute and unyielding Sword Saint must surely have earned the high recognition of the dragons!

Well, what can I say? Who told me I’m so amazing~ Hehe~

However, Elly started to laugh. “Your Highness, I know. Everyone knows that Sword Saint overestimated himself by challenging Her Majesty the Queen. He was defeated before the Queen even had to act, even had his holy sword seized. Now it’s actually being used by you instead.”

    “That was…!”

Xia Yi started to speak but stopped, intending to explain.

But… there wasn’t much to explain. It was all true.

“A human’s holy sword, now used instead to protect our Dragon race’s princess. That human Sword Saint was simply an utter clown!” Elly mocked.

Hearing this, the other dragons also burst into laughter.

Everyone was laughing. Only one person was turning red with embarrassment.

“What did you say?!” Xia Yi was so agitated her tail went rigid. “You’re just a mere Elly, how dare you be so insolent!!”

“But, Your Highness, I’m just stating facts. Wasn’t that Sword Saint’s action pure folly?”

“It wasn’t folly! It wasn’t folly at all!”

Xia Yi’s face grew redder and redder, almost steaming. She desperately wanted to refute it, but she couldn’t—it was the truth.

    “Damn you, Elly!”

“Is Your Highness defending the Sword Saint?”

Elly felt utterly perplexed. What did I say wrong now? Why have I made the princess angry again?

“This is… a matter of attitude! If you look down on everyone, one day you’ll definitely trip up. I’m just warning you in advance!”

Xia Yi activated her ultimate skill: shifting the topic.

“I’m not defending the Sword Saint at all, this has nothing to do with any Sword Saint! I’m just worried about you, Elly! Because in the upcoming battle against the Vampires, we cannot afford to be careless or sloppy. This is a battlefield!”

    “…Alright then!”

Elly had no choice but to concede.

She felt it was very strange. Why did the princess care so much about a human Sword Saint? And why could she wield the holy sword so freely?

She was even exquisitely skilled in swordsmanship, reaching a master’s level.

Could it be that the princess was the Sword Saint’s…

    “Whoa!”

Elly was startled by her own bold hypothesis, nearly somersaulting mid-air.

“Elly, what’s wrong?” Xia Yi asked, puzzled.

    “N-nothing!”

Elly quickly suppressed her line of thought. She couldn’t continue down that path. In the past, dragons who dared to speculate wildly or even question Xia Yi’s origins had all vanished from this world.

Elly certainly didn’t want to receive the ‘gift package’ for her entire clan.

Don’t imagine things, don’t imagine things.

The princess is the princess, and she has nothing whatsoever to do with any Sword Saint!

“Anti-Vampire Special Operations Unit, all soldiers, attention!”

The captain suddenly roared, making all the dragons cease their laughter, focus their spirits, and concentrate.

“We are about to arrive outside the border of the Holy Crimson Empire to make contact with allied forces. Be on highest alert! Let the foreign armies witness our momentum!”

    “Yes, Captain!”

    “Louder! I can’t hear you!”

    “Yes, sir!!”

All the dragons roared together. The unified roar of dragons was like a shockwave, making the ground tremble.

Fortunately, they had already passed the foreign cities, or someone might have been in trouble.

Outside the border of the Holy Crimson Empire.

“Your Highness, it’s bad! The Vampire airship units are approaching. Should we retreat?”

A subordinate of Yue Liu suddenly came to report.

The little fox leading the Foxkin army showed a conflicted expression. While she was still hesitating, she suddenly sensed an unusual presence. She looked up at the sky behind her, where many figures appeared.

A smile appeared on the little fox’s face. “Kukuku, have you arrived? My destined rival!”

[Author’s Note: Starting last week, a deranged person A appeared in the comments section, expressing dissatisfaction with the plot and declaring they wouldn’t read anymore.

Light novels are for entertainment and leisure. If you’re unhappy reading and want to complain or leave, I can understand. I know my own abilities are limited and can’t satisfy everyone.

But this person, after deleting the book and deciding not to read, still patrolled the comments section intensely, becoming deranged, spreading misinformation about the plot under other people’s comments, and continued doing this for a full week.

I posted a comment (not naming names) just asking them to stop. They then actively jumped in front of me, making sarcastic remarks, mocking me, using other novels to compare and put me down, accusing me of plagiarism, and saying I was learning from miHoYo’s Genshin Impact by doing black-and-red marketing (?????).

I explained to them: Tia always regarded Xia Yi as the former Wright. Later, she came to her senses, stopped clinging to the past, took the initiative to move on, acknowledged Xia Yi’s identity, bid farewell to Wright in front of Xia Yi, and took up the duties of the Knight King. Xia Yi also respected Tia’s decision. Saying words to try to keep her from leaving at that time would have been an insult to Tia’s resolve.

The core setting of the Holy Sword hasn’t been revealed yet. I’ve laid a lot of foreshadowing that hasn’t been uncovered, the plot hasn’t progressed to that point.

After hearing my explanation, they insisted that Tia and Xia Yi were in a romantic relationship, that they should have been able to cuddle then, that Xia Yi not doing so made her a blockhead, that it was a lovers’ breakup, that the Holy Sword didn’t abandon Xia Yi, and that the plot was collapsed.

They said my ‘yy’ was the authority.

Just because one person didn’t like the plot, they kept making a big fuss, even trying to rope others in to force me to admit that not having the two characters cuddle here meant the plot had fallen apart.

And then another deranged person jumped out.

This unhinged person B is also a heavyweight. They’ve basically been living in this book’s comment section since January, flaming me nonstop up to now.

You heard right. They only target me—no one else. I’m the only one they pick on. During this time, many of their rule-violating comments were so bad that even other readers couldn’t stand them, and they were reported quite a lot. I really didn’t want to engage, but they showed no self-awareness at all. This time they even smugly said they would keep flaming me forever, determined to blow up my comment section.

Ever since this book started, I’ve been flamed for all kinds of reasons.

Finally, regarding the QQ group, I’ll respond.

After creating the group, I realized that far too many people had joined—more than in other novel reader groups. People in the group were posting pictures, sharing explicit content, role-playing as characters from this novel to engage in text-based erotic roleplay with each other, and extensively discussing politics. There was even a time during a sensitive national period when the group owner (my friend) decided to lock the group for 24 hours, and someone jumped out to complain about the lock.

I stepped in to stop this behavior, but it didn’t work. It stopped temporarily, then started up again soon after. The whole group became a complete mess.

There were also people in the group constantly DMing me, demanding that I change the plot to suit their wishes, while others flamed me for writing poorly and threatened to drop the story if I didn’t change the plot.

The group owner (my friend) and I discussed it. I wanted to appoint moderators, he felt it was unnecessary. We had a serious disagreement, and the group was disbanded.

During that period, the QQ group caused me severe mental stress—I could barely breathe. Since I’m not good at socializing or communication to begin with, I didn’t want this to add to my inner exhaustion. I just want to write the novel quietly on my own, so I haven’t opened another group since.

I’ve never talked about these things before and just endured them myself, because I feel that as an Author, I shouldn’t constantly vent negative emotions at readers. Readers are here to read the novel, not this.

But today I really can’t take it anymore. Is my tolerance the reason others feel they can attack me however they want?

Everyone, please be aware of these two unhinged people. Don’t let them steer the narrative.

I’m really feeling down today and can’t write anymore. There will only be one chapter update today. Don’t wait tonight.

That is… unfortunate. I really enjoy this novel and the way that the author has written it, and I hope that the author does not get influenced by these people.

I really appreciate keeping the author’s notes, it’s heartbreaking to see what one of my favourite author’s had to deal with, but not surprising when writing a high profile web novel. But I’m happy to see they stand by their story, a lot of long stories can end up pretty rough later on from excessive fan pleasing.

Even in China there are people like that. The book is entertaining, very much so (even though I detest that elf), and it’s easily one of the best novels I’ve ever read.
