Volume 4 Chapter 244
by Need_More_SleepVolume 4 + Chapter 244: The Critical Moment
The captain led Xia Yi away from the capital of the Holy Crimson Empire.
They understood all too well the immense gap in strength between themselves and Herman. Staying there would be of no help to Xia Lulu whatsoever, they would likely end up as targets for attack, just like before, with no means to retaliate, and instead become Xia Lulu’s weakness.
Thus, they had no choice but to retreat.
“Xia Lulu…”
Xia Yi was deeply worried about Xia Lulu.
Normally, before her, Xia Lulu always appeared utterly composed, no matter the situation.
But just moments ago, she hadn’t sensed that same composure from Xia Lulu.
“Will she be alright?”
“Rest assured, Your Highness the Princess. There is absolutely no possibility of anything happening to Her Majesty the Queen!”
The captain comforted Xia Yi.
“Since I joined the army, I have never once seen Her Majesty the Queen suffer a single defeat! Her Majesty the Queen is invincible!”
“Really?”
“Truly! Whether it was quelling internal rebellions or facing challenges from external enemies, Her Majesty the Queen has suppressed them all with her overwhelming power. No one could possibly be a match for Her Majesty!” the captain emphasized.
“The captain is right!”
“Her Majesty the Queen cannot possibly lose!”
“Her Majesty the Queen will definitely defeat Herman with ease and return safe and sound!”
The other dragon soldiers also agreed with the captain. In their hearts, they believed it too,
Xia Lulu would be fine.
“Alright…”
Xia Yi lowered her head.
Hearing this, her anxiety didn’t improve much.
The dragon corps flew high in the sky. After withdrawing a certain distance, they landed on the ground.
Xia Yi dismounted from the captain’s back. She looked toward the distant capital, yearning to return and help Xia Lulu.
But as the Sword Saint, she also knew very well that such a sudden act of becoming deadweight would be extremely foolish.
Was there truly nothing she could do…?
“Captain, what is the current situation? Tell me quickly!” Xia Yi said.
“Ugh…”
“Captain, what’s wrong?”
“N-nothing.”
The captain shook his head, seemingly forcing himself.
Gritting his teeth, he reported to Xia Yi.
“Your Highness the Princess, before rescuing you, Her Majesty the Queen had been operating within the Anti-Vampire Alliance under your identity. Under Her Majesty’s leadership, the Anti-Vampire Alliance steadily defeated the vampire forces and advanced to the outer regions of the Holy Crimson Capital. Today was the day the Anti-Vampire Alliance launched its general assault on the capital.”
“You mean over there?” Xia Yi looked toward the chaotic battlefield.
“Yes, Your Highness the Princess. Originally, we dragons were primarily responsible for bypassing the frontline and striking the vampire rear forces. After completing the mission, Her Majesty made a startling decision: to lead us in a separate operation to rescue you. That’s why we breached the capital.”
“I see.”
Xia Yi roughly understood the situation.
Currently, it seemed the main force of the Anti-Vampire Alliance was still battling the main vampire army on the outskirts of the capital and hadn’t yet managed to break into the city itself.
Xia Lulu’s decision to come rescue her was her own, independent of the entire Anti-Vampire Alliance.
“Let’s return to reinforce the Anti-Vampire Alliance army! First, we’ll crush the vampire frontal forces. Then, once the Anti-Vampire Alliance breaches the capital, with so many powerful allies, regardless of the final outcome for Xia Lulu, we should ultimately be able to defeat Herman!”
Xia Yi made her judgment.
This was indeed the most reasonable choice at present. If Xia Yi and the dragon soldiers here went back alone, it would be a pure suicide mission.
But if the entire Anti-Vampire Alliance army entered the capital, the outcome might very well be different.
“Your Highness the Princess…!” The captain was somewhat surprised.
At such a time, Xia Yi could still make a cool-headed judgment.
Indeed, the fact that she could be the heir to the dragon royal family was not without reason.
“Your Highness the Princess, let us proceed as you say.”
“Captain, is there a way you can forcefully remove this tail ring for me?”
“Tail ring?”
“This one. This tail ring was put on me by the Vampire Divine Ancestor, it seals my dragon powers.”
Xia Yi turned around, showing the tail ring on her tail.
Though it was quite embarrassing, having a tail ring put on her was like being a little pet, now was not the time to dwell on such things.
“No wonder your condition was abnormal. It was because of the tail ring’s restriction.”
The captain suddenly understood.
“I see, Your Highness the Princess. Please allow me to try.”
“Alright.”
Xia Yi nodded.
The captain, who had already taken on his giant dragon form, shifted back to his humanoid state.
Due to dragon physiology, releasing one’s true dragon form greatly enhances various abilities, but it significantly reduces the precision required for highly delicate manipulations. The humanoid form is more suitable for such tasks.
The captain raised both hands, placed them near the tail ring, and attempted to channel his own magical energy to forcibly remove it.
“Ugh… Ah!”
The captain suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood, nearly collapsing.
“Captain?!” Xia Yi’s eyes widened.
“S-sorry, Your Highness the Princess, I…” The captain’s face showed a pained expression, he was barely holding on.
Xia Yi glanced at the other dragons. They all looked terrible. Due to Herman’s earlier attack, the dragons were injured, and now everyone’s condition was dire.
Asking the captain to forcefully remove the tail ring for her was too difficult.
The other dragon soldiers likely couldn’t do it either. What should she do…?
“Well, well, my luck is truly good. To run into the Silver Dragon Princess and a bunch of wounded soldiers right here.”
Xia Yi looked toward the source of the voice, her expression changing drastically.
When it rains, it pours. Of all times, a dangerous enemy had to appear now.
It was a vampire prince leading a vampire unit.
Xia Yi had seen this vampire prince once before in the vampire palace. His name was Blake, a rather selfish and self-serving fellow. Upon learning of Elizabeth’s accession, he immediately chose submission to protect himself.
“Originally heading to support the battlefield, but I ended up meeting Her Highness the Princess.”
Blake looked at Xia Yi and smiled, his grin appearing very dangerous.
“Handing you over to the Divine Ancestor will surely earn me a fine reward.”
“Your Highness the Princess! Please stand behind us!”
Gritting his teeth, the captain forced himself to stand, positioning himself in front of Xia Yi.
The other dragon soldiers formed a defensive formation, swearing to protect Xia Yi’s safety.
However, all the dragons in the Anti-Vampire Special Operations Unit were injured, and Xia Yi’s dragon powers were sealed. Facing a vampire prince endowed with divine empowerment, there was no chance of victory.
“If you wish to die, then I shall grant your wish!”
A murderous glint flashed in Blake’s eyes as he charged toward the dragons. He intended to slaughter every dragon except Xia Yi.
“Damn it…!”
Xia Yi bit her lip, unsure what to do.
At this critical moment, a familiar voice rang out.
“Holy Lance · Judgment!”
