Volume 4 + Chapter 240: I Am The Approaching Storm

“Kill this presumptuous creature! She is the commander of the fox clan’s forces!”

“Damn fox clan, daring to oppose us vampires!”

“Let us show you the might of the vampires!!”

On the battlefield, vampire soldiers encircled a pink-haired maiden dressed in shrine maiden attire.

The fox girl had a pair of pink ears atop her head and nine fluffy fox tails behind her, making her an extremely conspicuous figure.

She was the daughter of the Nine-Tailed Fox Emperor—Yue Liu · Gitusezhuoya.

    “Your Highness!!”

The fox clan soldiers currently moving away from the area saw their princess surrounded in the rear and grew deeply concerned. The officers among them wanted to command the troops to turn back and provide support.

However, Yue Liu raised her hand, halting her subordinates’ actions.

“Do not approach! Remember your mission!” she said.

In this battle of the Anti-Vampire Alliance, the armies of different races bore different responsibilities.

For example, races like the minotaurs, trolls, dwarves… were primarily responsible for breakthroughs on the frontal battlefield, pushing the frontlines deep through fearless charges until they breached the capital.

The elves were positioned further back on the battlefield, providing support to the forward troops.

The dragons utilized their mobility to strike and harass the vampire rear forces.

As for the fox clan, unlike the others, they would maneuver around the flanks on the ground to the rear of the battlefield, acting as a surprise assault force to apply immense pressure on the vampire army on the frontlines, catching them off guard.

However, this plan did not proceed entirely smoothly, they encountered vampire forces sent to intercept them along the way.

“Leave these fools to me alone. You continue advancing. That is an order,” Yue Liu declared.

    “Understood, Your Highness!”

The fox clan officer saluted and led the soldiers away.

“How utterly arrogant! Do you think you alone can stop us?!”

The vampire soldiers on this side were infuriated.

Was the fox clan sending just one pink-haired fox to block an entire army alone?

    This was a blatant insult.

“Ah, my eye… it aches faintly, yearning for darkness, yearning for the abyss…!”

The little fox deliberately spoke in a low, resonant voice, uttering cryptic words. Her left hand covered the right side of her face, as if her right eye was undergoing a strange transformation.

“I hear it… the call from the depths of the shadowed valley, echoing through this very space!”

    “???”

The vampire soldiers were utterly bewildered.

What nonsense was this fox spouting?

Almost none of them could comprehend the meaning behind the little fox’s words.

“We have the numerical advantage. Charge together,” the vampire commander shouted. “Don’t be intimidated! She’s just bluffing!”

The vampire soldiers raised their weapons and charged.

    “Hehehe… Hahahahahaha!”

The little fox let out an enigmatic laugh and raised her hand, summoning the legendary holy weapon of the fox clan’s legacy—Sakura Moon—into her grasp.

Her right eye also changed: within the pink iris, the petals of cherry blossoms materialized.

Her right eye widened abruptly, capturing all the charging vampire soldiers within her gaze.

    “Fox God’s Gaze!”

Every vampire soldier felt the entire world transform drastically. The movement of their bodies and everything around them slowed to an extreme crawl, yet their consciousness remained hyper-alert. It was as if this space had been set to slow motion, aware of it, they were utterly powerless.

From nowhere, each of them saw a single cherry blossom petal fall before their eyes.

Only this cherry blossom maintained normal speed, continuously descending.

“I am the approaching storm, awakening the captive clouds within their cage…!”

The little fox bent her knees, leaning her body forward in a poised stance while gripping the hilt of her katana, entering an iaijutsu draw—ready to strike.

A cherry blossom petal also drifted down before her.

    “Slash!”

The Sakura Moon left its sheath at a speed invisible to the naked eye. The little fox’s iaijutsu had transcended convention, becoming unbelievably fast.

A sword gleam fell upon the cherry blossom, slicing it cleanly in two.

The little fox’s draw was fluid as running water. After the cut, she flicked Sakura Moon as if shaking off blood and smoothly sheathed the katana once more.

    “Cherry blossoms, scatter!”

The moment her words fell, every vampire soldier witnessed the cherry blossom before their eyes being severed.

As the cherry blossoms vanished, countless sword gleams manifested within the space, erupting simultaneously. Thousands of sakura-colored sword lights seemed to slice through the very air, their slashes triggering chain reactions. Crimson blossoms continuously bloomed across the battlefield, and every vampire soldier was felled by the strikes.

In merely an instant, none of the vampire soldiers who had spoken of surrounding and killing the little fox remained standing.

    “Alright, that settles that.”

The little fox put away Sakura Moon and went to catch up with the fox clan army.

[I wonder what that chatterbox in the group chat is doing right now, busy with her arch-nemesis…]

    …

    Holy Crimson Empire, Capital.

Xia Yi was hiding in the alley when suddenly, she heard a tremendous roar from outside. The ground and buildings shook violently.

    BOOM!!!

    “Whoa!”

Xia Yi nearly tumbled to the ground, but Little Black propped her up.

Then, deafening alarm sirens blared everywhere outside.

“Emergency! Enemy attack! Enemy attack! Assume highest alert status!”

“Are those dragons insane? Choosing to advance alone and attack our capital?!”

“Move quickly! Seize this chance to annihilate all those dragons!!”

Many chaotic voices echoed from outside the alley as vampire soldiers received combat orders and began moving in organized formations.

    Xia Yi seemed to understand.

That earlier blast was likely a powerful magical assault that struck the capital’s skies, shattering the city’s protective barrier.

Also, they mentioned something about dragons…

It must be that the dragon forces have breached the capital’s defenses and launched an assault inside!

    “Could it be…!”

Xia Yi’s expression changed. She lowered her head and picked up Little Black.

“Squeak?” Little Black made a puzzled sound.

“The dragons have come to rescue me, Little Black! We must seize this chance now and rendezvous with the dragon forces!!”

Xia Yi knew that earlier, when Ella contacted her and relayed the intel that someone would come for her, this must be it!

Holding Little Black, she ran out of the alley.

Just as she reached the outside, she looked up and saw a petite figure far in the distant sky.

Though the distance was great, she could see clearly.

It was a silver-haired dragon loli whose appearance was nearly identical to her own.

A radiant smile blossomed on Xia Yi’s face. “Xia Lulu!”
