Volume 4 Chapter 138
by Need_More_SleepVolume 4 + Chapter 138: A Stepping Stone for My Majesty
“Your Highness, we must act cautiously! Even though the Anti–Vampire Clan Alliance demands member states dispatch troops within two days, I believe we should not be hasty. We should continue to observe the situation for a while longer!”
“No, Your Highness! We should charge ahead now, letting everyone witness the might of our Dragon race! Once we establish military achievements and await victory in the war, our Dragon race will hold the greatest power of speech and secure tangible benefits!”
“Your Highness, perhaps we should collaborate with other nations!”
“Your Highness, the Anti–Vampire Clan Alliance is absolutely unreliable. We cannot trust other countries!”
“Your Highness, we absolutely must not let other races share in our accomplishments!!”
“Your Highness! We implore you to investigate clearly!”
“Your Highness! We beg you to think thrice before acting!”
Xia Yi listened as these Dragon ministers droned on before her, feeling utterly dizzy.
“Stop chanting, stop chanting already!!”
The silver-haired little girl clutched her head, collapsing onto the table.
After Xia Yi returned from the Pear Islands, she naturally reported the current state of the Anti–Vampire Clan Alliance to Xia Lulu.
Upon hearing it, Xia Lulu decided to hand over this matter entirely for her daughter to handle.
And then, this scene unfolded.
At the strategy meeting, the Dragon ministers offered their counsel to Xia Yi, each expressing their own views.
You say this, I say that, he says another thing. Each person’s perspective was different, each one’s opinion varied. They all wanted Xia Yi to heed their own advice.
It was exactly like nine hundred flies buzzing incessantly around the little princess’s ears, nearly driving her to the brink of a mental breakdown.
“Your Highness, we implore you to make a decision! Our Dragon race absolutely must not sink into the quagmire of war! Let other races handle the matter of dispatching troops! The Vampires won’t reach us here anytime soon anyway!”
“Do not listen to his slanderous words, Your Highness! By the time the Vampires crush the Anti–Vampire Clan Alliance, it will be too late! No remedy will work then, it will be far too difficult to reorganize forces to resist the Vampires!”
“No, no, no, Your Highness, you must listen to me! Our Dragon race possesses the natural defenses of the northern passes, unlike the currently-invaded Beastmen Alliance. Their magic airships will be even more useless against our Dragon race! There is nothing to fear at all!”
Even though Xia Yi was already lying on the table, the ministers continued to argue amongst themselves.
“What should I do? What should I do?”
Xia Yi felt her head was about to explode, utterly unable to tell who was right and who was wrong.
Even if she chose one person’s opinion, surely someone else would jump out to voice opposition. This cycle felt endless.
The duty she was performing now was Xia Lulu’s usual work, listening to the ministers’ opinions and then making a decision.
She hadn’t felt it much before, but now Xia Yi’s mood was quite complex.
Was being the ruler of the Dragon race, handling state affairs, really this troublesome?
Right now, she just wanted to give up completely, flee the meeting room, and leave these fellows behind.
But doing that was absolutely unacceptable. She had already taken on the responsibility.
“Wahh… Serra, help me…!”
Xia Yi turned her head, looking at the head maid beside her with teary eyes, pleading for help.
Serra smiled as always, leaned down, and gently reminded Xia Yi by her ear, “Your Highness, if you find it troublesome, you can act like Her Majesty the Queen.”
“Like Xia Lulu?”
Xia Yi began to ponder this question.
How would Xia Lulu handle such a situation?
Would she select the most reasonable counsel from among them and implement it? Facing the other advice, would she use rational, calm logic to analyze the pros and cons, refute them, and then make all the ministers submit willingly to her?
“No, not that…!”
Xia Yi suddenly had an epiphany.
She realized what she should do right now to resolve the current situation.
“You lot, all you chattering fellows, shut up for this princess!!”
Xia Yi suddenly stood up, placed one foot on the table, raised her hand, and magic power manifested in her palm.
Chant Restraint!
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
The little princess almost instantly cast a spell, causing ice swords to descend from above the meeting room, embedding themselves in the table before each minister.
Such a sudden move left everyone speechless.
“Hmph!”
Due to her not-very-tall stature, the petite Xia Yi simply stood right on the table, crossed her arms over her chest, and looked down upon these stunned ministers.
“I have made my considerations clear. I will immediately lead our combat forces and set out for the Holy Crimson Empire to confront the Vampire Ancestor! Xia Lulu has already entrusted this matter entirely to me. Therefore, everything will be decided by me!”
“But, Your Highness—”
One minister instinctively wanted to object, but before he could even finish his sentence, a chill brushed past his face.
An ice sword embedded itself in the chair he was sitting on. Just a little further forward, and he might have been—
Thinking of this, the Dragon minister swallowed a mouthful of saliva and immediately changed his tune.
“Your Highness, I fully support your decision!”
“That’s more like it!”
A satisfied expression appeared on Xia Yi’s face. She waved her hand, dismissing the ice swords.
This was what she had realized.
Xia Lulu was a tyrant, a dictator, always enforcing a one-person rule. The ministers’ words were basically useless to her.
In that case, she should just be like Xia Lulu too!
Then there wouldn’t be a bunch of annoying fellows chattering away in front of her.
“Mhm, very good. Since everyone agrees and no one objects, then this matter is decided!” Xia Yi laughed.
The ministers were all numb, thinking to themselves how the Princess and the Queen were exactly alike.
…
The meeting ended, and the Dragon ministers all left helplessly.
Xia Yi leaned back in her chair, very happy. “Serra, thank you for the reminder. This way, the problem is solved. We can mobilize the troops today.”
“Your Highness, I must still remind you that just scaring people like this is not enough,” Serra said.
“Then… what else needs to be done?”
“It’s actually not complicated. You need to enhance your majesty,” Serra explained. “Only when you possess sufficient majesty will you not need to get angry like this. Everyone will submit willingly and unconditionally obey any decision you make.”
“That’s right!”
Xia Yi jumped down from the chair, her small hands clenched into fists.
“Heh heh heh, perfect. This war is an excellent opportunity for me to enhance my majesty! That mere Vampire Ancestor shall become the stepping stone for my majesty, to be trampled firmly beneath my feet!”
How sweet, the little princess is finally taking her position as heir of the dragon kingdom seriously ^^
