Volume 4 Chapter 136
by Need_More_SleepVolume 4 + Chapter 136: I Have No Objection
After this farce, the Anti–Vampire Clan Alliance’s meeting formally commenced.
Presided over jointly by the Foxkin and the Elves, representatives from each nation first gave reports, providing intelligence for sharing.
Although it was said this way, most nations had not yet suffered vampire invasions, so there wasn’t much they could say.
Thus, everyone’s attention once again converged on the Beastman Prince.
Although it sounded rather like a hellish joke, it was true that no one understood the Vampires better than the Beastman.
Due to the earlier incident, the Beastman Prince was in an exceedingly foul mood and so handed over the narration to one of his subordinates.
“Two weeks ago, Vampires suddenly appeared on the defensive lines of our Beastman Alliance. Their forces breached our Beastman defenses in an extremely short time. Although our Beastman army engaged the Vampire forces, the enemy’s strength was too formidable, causing our Beastman troops to suffer successive defeats. Coupled with the suddenness of the event, by the time the capital received the report, the Vampire army had already torn a massive breach in the territory of the Beastman Alliance, with large numbers of Vampire troops pouring in.”
“Our Beastman King rallied the strength of all the tribes of the Beastman, uniting hearts and minds to resist the Vampires together. However, aside from the forces led by the Beastman King himself, the other armies of the Beastman found it extremely difficult to withstand the invasion of the Vampire forces.”
“The Beastman King, standing alone, was unable to hold out. Under siege, he was forced to withdraw from the capital of the Beastman Alliance. Our Beastman capital is now in a state of occupation, with much of our territory lost and under the control of the Vampire army.”
The subordinate of the Beastman Prince delivered an utterly humiliating report.
For thousands of years, the territory of the Beastman had never been occupied in such a manner.
“Why would the armies of the Beastman Alliance be like straw men before the Vampires, incapable of even resistance?” The Goblin delegation loudly inquired. “Aren’t you Beastman touted as having military strength ranking among the top three on this continent, even number one in raw power?!”
“You…!”
Hearing this, the Beastman Prince’s subordinate trembled with rage.
The look the Beastman Prince cast toward the Goblins was practically one of wanting to devour them alive.
Due to historical issues, the conflicts and contradictions among the Beastman, Trolls, and Goblins were very significant. These three races frequently clashed, with no shortage of friction and strong animosity.
The Beastman had always looked down on the Goblins, even mockingly referring to them as mushroom-dwarves.
Not long ago, the Beastman and the Goblins nearly went to war over a border issue.
Now, having given the Goblins this opportunity, they immediately launched a wave of mockery—a clear case of using public affairs for private revenge.
“That’s right, you Beastman, how come you’re as fragile as paper, breaking at a touch?” The Troll delegation leader laughed.
The Beastman Prince finally couldn’t hold back. He slammed the table and stood up. “How dare you Trolls bring this up! Who was it that got utterly thrashed on the Vampire border in the first place?!”
The Troll representative retorted, “So what?! I dare say we Trolls aren’t cowards like you Beastman!! If we fight on our home ground, we Trolls are fully confident we could resist the Vampire invasion!!”
“Everyone, please refrain from unnecessary quarrels during the meeting. We are now allies with a common enemy,” reminded Moonflow, trying hard to sound very formal.
The three races—Beastman, Goblins, and Trolls—though inwardly holding mutual contempt, were forced by the situation to temporarily hold back.
“The strength of the Vampire army is not on the same level as before. The Vampires employed a terrifyingly effective tactic this time,” explained the Beastman Prince’s subordinate. “In this war, the Vampires deployed airships. They first use airship units to bombard the ground, then employ ground troops to mop up. They firmly control air superiority. Against the airship units, we truly had no countermeasures.”
“Although that sounds intimidating, it’s impossible,” the Goblin representative denied. “Because deploying airships in war is all flash and no substance! Those overly fragile and exorbitantly expensive flying contraptions can even be shot down by ground troop archers!”
On this point, the Goblins indeed had some say.
In terms of individual strength, the Goblins were inferior to the Beastman and Trolls. But it was precisely with their Gnomish engineering, creating various war machines, that they could contend with the stronger Beastman and Trolls.
“The Vampires’ airships are different from what you understand. They are equipped with defensive ancient magic arrays. Ordinary attacks cannot damage the airships themselves!” clarified the Beastman Prince’s subordinate. “Let me emphasize again, the Vampires don’t have just one airship, they possess a very large number of airship units! Whoever goes would only be subjected to one-sided bombardment!”
If it were just one airship like this, everyone could understand, a single race’s resources might be able to produce it.
But what the Vampires have achieved now is mass production, they have already formed airship units.
The Goblins fell silent. Their own level of technology hadn’t reached the point of manufacturing large quantities of magical airships either.
“It seems that to defeat the Vampires, one among us must be capable of countering the magical airship units,” Little Fox summarized.
Everyone fell into contemplation. Was there a race possessing high magic resistance, capable of withstanding magical airship strikes, while also having extremely high offensive output to effectively damage the magical airships?
Following this line of thought, the answer seemed to gradually become clear.
It seemed only one superior race fit the bill perfectly, and that was—
The Dragon race!
“May I ask, Princess Xia Yi, if the task of countering the Vampire airship units could be entrusted to your Dragon race?” Eve stood up and inquired.
“No problem,” Xia Yi agreed.
If this task were given to the Dragon race, everyone could still have a bit of confidence. Other races certainly wouldn’t be up to it.
“Right now, the Vampire army is still on the territory of the Beastman Alliance and has not withdrawn. We must seize the opportunity to provide resources to the Beastman Alliance, letting them exhaust everything to hold back the Vampires. The remaining member states must dispatch troops within two days to jointly crusade against the Vampire Progenitor and secure victory in this anti-Vampire war!”
As the Alliance Leader, Eve declared this to every member state.
“Wait, we Beastman have no troops. If it’s all voluntary, how are we supposed to resist—” the Beastman Prince attempted a final struggle.
“Aren’t you Beastman famed for being brimming with martial prowess? Go recruit people, enforce conscription, won’t that work?” Eve said without mercy. “As long as you can muster the capacity to resist, the Anti–Vampire Clan Alliance will provide you with resources. Beastman, do you have any further objections?”
“This…”
The Beastman Prince lowered his head, clenched his fists, and could only accept.
“I have no objection.”
During the voting session, no one opposed either. It was passed unanimously, bringing this meeting to a close.
Two days later, the war against the Vampires would officially commence.
