Volume 4 + Chapter 130: The Prophecy of The Great Elven Sage

The Elven Kingdom, the royal palace.

“Her Highness the Princess seems to have returned from the Pear Islands.”

Two guards were chatting while on duty in the palace. One was a newly recruited guard, the other was a veteran, guiding the newcomer and helping him familiarize himself with the working environment.

“Yes. This was clearly Her Highness Eve’s first official appearance in a public setting. At first, everyone was worried about whether Her Highness could truly help relieve His Majesty the Elf King of his burdens. It seems we worried too much,” the old guard said with a sigh of emotion. “Even though we know very little about Her Highness, her performance was still quite outstanding.”

Even guards who had worked in the elven palace for many years had, prior to this, only seen Eve from afar a few times, never once exchanging words with her.

Let alone the other elves—their understanding of Eve, the elven princess, was practically zero.

Aside from instructors specifically appointed by the elven royal family, the number of people who could meet Eve was extremely limited.

The elves themselves could not understand why the Elf King had kept the elven princess hidden away.

Therefore, when they learned that the Elf King, due to his advanced age, had no choice but to let Eve take on some royal duties, the elves were initially quite worried.

Could the Elf King’s wisdom truly be inherited by the elven princess?

However, judging from this occasion, the princess’s debut was fairly satisfactory, with few flaws to criticize.

“Her Highness Eve is indeed very capable, but…”

The new guard glanced around, tugged lightly at the old guard’s sleeve, and lowered his voice.

“Senior, I want to ask… is the legend of the World-Destroying Elf real?”

“What nonsense are you talking about, you brat?!”

Upon hearing those words, the old guard was so startled that he nearly jumped on the spot. His reaction was intense—he was just short of pointing at the new guard’s nose and scolding him.

    “Don’t say such ominous things!”

“Senior, I only heard others mention it. I was just curious—could you tell me about it?” the new guard pleaded.

    “Well… about that…”

The old guard hesitated for a moment.

Among the elves, there was a legend passed down through the ages.

Long ago, there was a great elven sage named Falma.

He once left behind a prophecy stating that, in a later era, a terrifying evil elf would appear, bringing a world-ending catastrophe to the elven race—and even to the entire land.

This was a calamity destined for the elves.

This elf would possess a trait completely different from all others—

The hair of the World-Destroying Elf would be black.

If anyone else had spread such words, they would have been dismissed as a rabble-rouser and thrown into prison.

But the great elven sage Falma was different. His status in elven history was unquestionable. He had even laid the magical foundations of the elves’ ancient era. When the elven race once faced invasion by foreign races and stood on the brink of destruction, it was Falma who aided the Elf King of that era in driving back the invaders, allowing the elves to rise again.

Aside from this prophecy, Falma had left behind several other predictions of disasters, all of which were later fulfilled one by one throughout history.

It was precisely because of the great sage’s prophecies that the elven race had been able to prepare in advance, reducing the losses of those calamities to a minimum.

Thus, the elves firmly believed in the prophecy of the evil elf.

In elven history, black-haired elves had almost never appeared. There had been a few foolish individuals who sought attention by dyeing their hair black—but they were arrested by the elven royal family and never seen again…

As for why the new guard brought this up, it was precisely because Eve was different from other elves.

    Her hair color was gray.

Extremely close to the description of the World-Destroying Elf in the prophecy.

“Senior… could Her Highness Eve be the World-Destroying Elf mentioned in the prophecy?” the new guard asked curiously.

    “Don’t spout nonsense!”

The old guard slapped the new guard’s helmet.

“Are you color-blind? Can’t tell black from gray? If Her Highness were truly the World-Destroying Elf, how could His Majesty the Elf King possibly tolerate it? Think before you speak!”

“But people do like to discuss—ah!!”

Suddenly, the new guard’s face turned deathly pale. His body trembled violently as he dropped to his knees, not daring to utter another word.

The old guard was still confused. He turned around—and was instantly terrified as well.

At some unknown point, Eve had already appeared behind them. Everything they had just said had been overheard.

Speaking ill of the princess, slandering the royal heir as an evil elf—this was a capital crime!

    “Forgive us, Princess Eve!!”

The old guard panicked and immediately knelt as well.

Ordinarily, anyone hearing such slander would be furious. Yet Eve maintained a calm expression as she looked at the two of them and said lightly, “You may both rise.”

    “Your Highness, we—”

“Do not say such things in public. If I hear them, nothing may happen. But if others hear them, you may lose your lives.”

“We’re sorry, Princess. We were wrong.”

The two guards bowed deeply, their faces burning with shame.

“Alright. Go on patrol. Be more careful next time. If something happens to you, your families would be saddened as well.”

Leaving those words behind, Eve departed.

The two guards exchanged glances and both lowered their heads.

“A person as wise and magnanimous as Her Highness could never be an evil World-Destroying Elf! Even being spoken of like that behind her back, she didn’t get angry at all—such generosity!” the new guard said. “If I ever hear anyone say such things again, I’ll correct them harshly, no matter who it is!”

“Indeed. How could the Elf King’s granddaughter have anything to do with the evil elf from Falma’s prophecy?” the old guard agreed wholeheartedly.

    “Grandfather, I’m back.”

Eve entered the grand hall and greeted the Elf King proactively.

Seated upon the elven throne was an elderly elven elder. Time had left many marks upon him—his once-beautiful golden hair had faded to a dull yellow, and his formerly handsome face now bore signs of age.

Even so, there was still an unmistakable aura of royalty about him.

    “Eve, how were the results?”

    “Regarding the Anti–Vampire Clan Alliance…”

As the elven princess, Eve gave the Elf King a detailed report.

After listening, the Elf King revealed a satisfied expression. “Mm, very good. Though there were some setbacks, as long as the alliance was successfully established in the end, that’s what matters. If everyone failed to unite, it would be extremely difficult to oppose such a terrifying enemy.”

    “Yes,” Eve affirmed.

“We’ve also received news that the Vampire Clan’s Crimson Empire has been renamed the Sacred Crimson Empire. As expected, the Vampire Clan would never surrender unconditionally. They are determined to conquer this land.”

“Grandfather, I don’t quite understand. Our elven race has invested so much effort in uniting everyone against the Vampire Clan—does this truly benefit us?” Eve asked, somewhat puzzled.

“Of course it does. This will elevate the international standing of our elven race. After defeating the Vampire Clan, as one of the alliance leaders, the elves will naturally gain immense influence. How the Vampire Clan is dealt with then will depend on the intentions of our fox clan and ourselves.”

    “I see,” Eve said, understanding.

The Elf King looked at his granddaughter and fell silent for a moment. Finally, he sighed softly. “Eve, you must think more deeply. Though your performance this time was acceptable for an elven princess, your considerations are still not thorough enough.”

“Grandfather, your admonishment is fair. I will remember it.”

“Your growth is still far from sufficient.”

“Yes, Grandfather. I will take you as my goal and work twice as hard, until I earn your approval.”

    Thunk.

Eve opened the door to one of the rooms in the elven palace and walked inside, discovering a demon girl with long brown hair lying sound asleep on a bed piled high with pink pillows.

She was Eve’s collaborator—the Succubus, Ella.

Eve did not hurry to wake Ella. Instead, she closed the door, sat down on the sofa, and waited.

After quite some time, she finally heard Ella stretching and yawning.

“Ahhh~ finally slept enough. Huh? Eve, when did you get here?” Ella stood on the bed and blinked.

She had heterochromatic eyes—her left and right eyes were different colors, a distinctive trait of Succubus.

“I’ve returned from the Pear Islands. Things over there are basically settled. Now both the elven race and the fox race are leaders of the Anti–Vampire Clan Alliance.”

“That’s great! Then we can plan the next step, right? Use your position as alliance leader to arrange that little silver dragon for me—give me a chance. When the time comes… I’ll duel the little silver dragon one-on-one!”

Ella was already itching with excitement.

She wanted to pin the little silver dragon beneath her, discipline her mercilessly, and make her beg endlessly for mercy!

“The Silver Dragon Princess seems quite powerful. Can you handle her alone?” Eve asked.

“So what if she’s strong? I’m a Succubus—I never fight head-on. As long as I drag her into the dream world, everything there is under my control,” Ella laughed. “I refuse to believe that in the dream world, the little silver dragon has any way to counter me!”

    “Suit yourself.”

“I’m a bit hungry. Go find me something to eat.”

“You’re not… craving energy?” Eve asked.

“No rush. I’ll hold back on that for now. Once I catch the little silver dragon, I’ll satisfy myself all at once—an ultimate pleasure! For now, ordinary food will do!” Ella replied.

“I understand. I’ll have the chefs prepare something and send it over later.”

“Oh, right—Eve. While you were away from the palace, I found something interesting.”

Ella took out a book, flipped to a certain page, and pointed at its contents.

It was Falma’s prophecy concerning the evil World-Destroying Elf.

“Eve… the evil World-Destroying Elf—could it be referring to you?”

    Hearing this, Eve smiled faintly.

    “Ella, what do you think?”
