Volume 4 Chapter 118
by Need_More_SleepVolume 4 + Chapter 118: So Tired
“King of Heroes, do you have enough weapons stored?”
Xia Yi lay on her bed, propping up her cheeks, happily reading a comic. Her feet, clad in lace-trimmed ankle socks, swung up and down rhythmically.
When she reached exciting parts, she couldn’t help but recite the passionate dialogue from the manga.
“Your Highness, reading manga again?” Serra said from beside her.
“Huh? Serra, what is it?”
Xia Yi turned her head to look at her personal maid.
“I haven’t read any manga for quite a while now! I need to catch up on them all!”
“Yes, of course I know that, Your Highness. Look.”
Serra brought out quite a few manga books.
“Before, when you went to the Far North Region, I didn’t miss a single one of the manga you liked during that time. I bought them all and kept them for you, waiting for your return.”
When Xia Yi saw those manga, her eyes instantly lit up. She scooped them up, immediately lay back on the bed, and let the manga spill all over herself.
The feeling of being surrounded by her favorite manga was absolutely wonderful!
“Hehehe, so happy~”
“Your Highness, it’s almost time for afternoon tea. Would you like to get ready?”
“Yes! Absolutely cannot miss afternoon tea and dessert time!”
Thinking of this, Xia Yi jumped right out of bed, full of energy.
Just as she was about to put on her shoes and leave the room, Serra suddenly spoke.
“Your Highness, you must have finished your training for today as well, right?”
“Training? What training?” Xia Yi tilted her head.
“Didn’t you say before that you would start training hard every day, honing your swordsmanship, to surpass Her Majesty the Queen?” Serra reminded her.
“…”
Oh no!
Xia Yi froze.
How could she have forgotten about this?
“Hmm? Your Highness, why aren’t you saying anything?”
Serra smiled.
“Since you’re already lying in your room reading manga, it must mean you’ve already trained hard for a while before taking a break, right?”
“I, I… actually… well, I definitely already—ah!”
Xia Yi suddenly felt a slight stinging sensation on the back of her hand.
It was the Holy Sword!
Oh no, her old friend was calling her out!
Now the little princess couldn’t spout the excuse “I actually already trained.”
“Serra, cancel today’s afternoon tea!” Xia Yi shouted.
“Huh? You don’t want dessert anymore?”
“Not for now! It’ll only shake my determination to train. It’s about time, I need to continue my training! Don’t disturb me!”
Saying this, Xia Yi fled straight out the door.
“Pfft.”
Serra couldn’t help but laugh.
“Her Highness is still so amusing.”
……
Xia Yi walked into the training grounds of the Dragon Royal Palace.
For some reason today, there was no one else around, it was just her alone.
That was fine, actually. No one would disturb her, and she could focus on training.
“Gram, you see, right? I’ve come to the training grounds! I’m going to start training now!”
Xia Yi raised her hand and turned around on the spot, as if showing off specifically to the Holy Sword.
“I am a Sword Saint, I have never forgotten that. See? Just now, the wicked dragon maid tried to corrupt my heart with manga and sweets, but I firmly refused! Doesn’t that prove how strong my will is?”
“Alright then, I’m going to start training now! Don’t disturb me after this!”
Xia Yi was a Sword Saint, so naturally what she trained was the way of the sword.
She closed her eyes and began to recall what step she had left off on in her last training session.
Pushing the timeline back further and further…
“I remember, last time I was training…”
“…”
“…”
“…”
Silence. Deathly silence.
The Holy Sword sigil on the silver-haired loli’s hand kept glowing, as if mocking her.
Beads of sweat began to form on Xia Yi’s forehead.
Oh no! There wasn’t a “last time” at all!
She suddenly realized one thing, ever since she regained her original memories, she hadn’t done this even once!
A Sword Saint who kept claiming she hadn’t fallen at all, yet every day in the Dragon Royal Palace, she either slacked off or caused trouble, never having trained even once.
Was there anything more ridiculous than this?
“Hah! Hah! Hah! So that’s how it is!”
Xia Yi laughed stiffly, hit her own palm, and forced herself to put on an expression of sudden realization.
“So, without realizing it, I’ve already become a practicalist! I prefer improving myself through actual combat, right, Gram?”
The Holy Sword sigil flashed four times.
Although she didn’t know what the Holy Sword meant, Xia Yi decided to take it as an agreement for now.
“Right, sometimes I do need to train alone too. Let’s start then! I’ll begin with meditation!”
Xia Yi took a deep breath, sat down, and began to focus.
A mind as clear and still as water!
Cast aside all distracting thoughts, temper your mental state within the world of meditation, while also practicing your swordsmanship, identifying and filling in the gaps.
She began practicing her swordsmanship within her meditative world, recalling past battles.
Sword of Hoped-for Victory, Four Instantaneous Strikes, Raging Storm Sword…
Hmm, good, let’s go with this train of thought!
These were all sword techniques Xia Yi had already mastered.
Manga, snacks, pocket money, soda, breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, midnight snack, osmanthus cake, doughnuts, soup dumplings…
Although it seemed like something started feeling off somewhere, these were all things Xia Yi liked, so overall, it probably wasn’t a big problem.
After a session of meditation, Xia Yi opened her eyes.
“Whew, so tired. Have I been training for so long already? It seems today’s hard work has raised my swordsmanship to another level. Surpassing Xia Lulu is just a matter of time now! Right, Gram?”
The little princess stood up, pretending to wipe sweat that didn’t exist.
She glanced at the back of her hand and saw the Holy Sword sigil had fallen completely silent.
“Hmm, that’s enough training for today. Time to rest! I’ll try hard next time!”
Humming a cheerful tune, Xia Yi left the training grounds. Having completed her training, she felt confident, ready to enjoy snacks and manga again!
However, on the way, she ran into a group of dragon guards gathered together, seemingly discussing something.
This startled Xia Yi. Thinking they might be talking about slacking off or goofing around, she tried to sneak past but was spotted.
As soon as a dragon guard opened his mouth, he delivered some extremely significant news.
“Your Highness, this is huge! News just came back, the Storm King and the Vampire Ancestor have clashed on the Crimson Empire’s border, starting the war between the Undead race and the Vampire race—a conflict of high-ranking races!”
“What?”
Xia Yi was shocked.
Daleks and Elizabeth?
She pressed anxiously, “What happened next?”
The expressions on the dragon guards’ faces turned to disbelief. “No one could have predicted the outcome of that battle would be like this…!”
