Volume 4 Chapter 92
by Need_More_SleepVolume 4 + Chapter 92: Ambushed From Both Front And Rear
A commotion erupted at the front of the Northern Pacification Army, clearly indicating they had encountered an ambush and were caught completely off guard.
“It’s terrible, Your Highness! We’ve been ambushed by the rebels! The situation is critical!” an officer reported to Xia Yi.
“This… this…”
Xia Yi was utterly dumbfounded. She couldn’t understand why this was happening.
“The intelligence Scott provided said the rebels were on their way to Yahl City. Why are we being ambushed? This shouldn’t be happening!”
The Northern Pacification Army hadn’t gotten far from the Northern Mines, nowhere near Yahl City yet. Unless the enemy had set up an ambush in advance, this was impossible.
“I don’t know the situation either, Your Highness!” the officer also shook his head, indicating ignorance. “We were simply advancing as per your orders, preparing to intercept the rebels. Now the alchemical creature guiding us up front has been killed. Please issue orders quickly! What should we do next?”
“In any case, first organize everyone. Since we’ve encountered the rebels, let’s just annihilate them directly!” Xia Yi commanded.
“Yes!”
The officer could only obey the Silver Dragon Princess’s command, directing the army, intending to regroup.
However, the Northern Rebellion Army had already launched their charge.
“Resist the oppression of the Dragon royalty!”
“Fight for freedom! We have awakened!”
“Don’t let the Dragon Princess get away!”
On the side of the Northern Rebellion Army, the momentum was ferocious.
They had received orders to make the Silver Dragon Princess sleep forever in this snowy field.
The thought of being able to kill the lofty Dragon Princess made this army, composed of vicious criminals, swell with extremely high morale, their faces filled with murderous intent.
In contrast, on the side of the Northern Pacification Army, most were on their first campaign. Where had they ever fought such vicious enemies? Combined with their inexperience, they were already at a disadvantage.
“Everyone, do not waver! The gap in equipment between us and the rebels is decisive. With the aid from the Taylor family, fighting one against two is not a problem!”
The Northern Pacification Army officers passed down the order.
Due to the blizzard affecting visibility, the Northern Pacification Army couldn’t see the enemy’s situation clearly and internally believed this to be true.
However, when the two armies collided, they were stunned.
The Northern Rebellion Army’s equipment was even more refined and superior than that of the Northern Pacification Army, belonging to a higher tier altogether.
“This… how is this possible?!” The officer was completely dumbfounded.
Thus, the Northern Pacification Army lost all their advantages, even being outnumbered and suppressed.
The Northern Rebellion Army surged into the Northern Pacification Army’s formation like an avalanche, breaking through easily and advancing relentlessly.
The Northern Pacification Army couldn’t form any effective resistance and was soon overrun.
“It’s over, it’s over… this time it’s really over!” the officer cried out, clutching his head.
His morale had completely shattered.
In this situation, there wasn’t a shred of hope for victory, all the casualties were on the side of the Northern Pacification Army.
“It’s Leonard! The rebel leader Leonard has appeared!!” shouted a soldier of the Northern Pacification Army.
Xia Yi raised her head.
Through the crowd, the leaders of the two armies gazed at each other from a distance.
When her eyes met Leonard’s, her body trembled slightly, and she looked on the verge of tears, showing none of the dignity befitting the Dragon royalty.
“Is this the Silver Dragon Princess’s army? A child like this is better suited to playing with dolls at home.”
Leonard watched his soldiers crush the Silver Dragon Princess’s army and curled his lips into a contemptuous smile.
Treating something as serious as war as child’s play?
Now you know you were wrong, don’t you?
Silver Dragon Princess, you will pay with your life!
“Retreat! Full army retreat!! Return to the Northern Mines! We need to seek aid from the Taylor family!” Xia Yi was in utter panic, immediately ordering everyone to retreat.
Seeing even their supreme commander start to flee, what little will to fight remained among the remaining soldiers vanished. They discarded their weapons and armor and began to run.
The Northern Pacification Army, which had styled itself as a righteous force, began its rout.
“Pursue them! All of you, pursue! Today, we will not rest until we take the head of the Silver Dragon Princess!” Leonard commanded.
The Northern Rebellion Army’s morale soared even higher. Like hounds chasing prey, they launched their pursuit.
“Run faster! Quickly shake them all off!” Xia Yi said anxiously.
On the Northern Pacification Army’s side, they had prepared additional specialized alchemical creatures. No matter where they were in the Far North, these could point towards the Northern Mines. Even in the blizzard environment, they could navigate and guide the dragonkin’s escape route.
It was unclear how long they had been fleeing when, ahead, many dragonkin figures appeared.
“That’s… people from the Taylor family!! It’s Lord Scott, bringing reinforcements to meet us!!” the officer said with surprise and joy.
Xia Yi also noticed. Scott had appeared, leading the original armed forces of the Northern Mines. It seemed as if they had anticipated this situation and had been waiting on the road in advance.
Smiles appeared on everyone’s faces, believing this to be the Taylor family’s contingency plan.
Xia Yi immediately gave the order for everyone not to scatter, to all move closer to Scott’s side.
“Scott, you’ve finally come to reinforce—”
As Xia Yi approached Scott’s side, before she could even finish her sentence, arrows tore through the wind and snow, almost grazing past her. The magical energy attached to them exploded amidst the crowd, immediately injuring others.
This was…
An attack?
“Scott, are you rebelling?!” Xia Yi demanded.
Everyone else was also stunned. No one had expected Scott to order his subordinates to commit such an act of grave disrespect.
“Rebelling? You have the nerve to ask,” Scott sneered coldly. “Damnable Silver Dragon Princess, if not for your persecution of our Taylor family, how could we have come to this? This is all your fault! Go to hell and regret it there!”
The dragons beside Scott drew their weapons one after another, clearly already regarding Xia Yi as an enemy.
Subsequently, his next sentence pushed Xia Yi even deeper into the abyss.
“To all members of the Northern Pacification Army, I tell you this now, the Taylor family has already reached an agreement with the Northern Rebellion Army. Our goal is one and the same, to execute the Silver Dragon Princess! You can lay down your arms. Our target has always been Xia Yi · Christie. This has nothing to do with you. If you choose to surrender, you will not suffer needless harm.”
Everyone in the Northern Pacification Army was thrown into turmoil.
Scott ahead, Leonard behind…
Caught in this pincer attack, turning the situation around was nearly impossible.
Xia Yi was as good as dead.
Since there was no hope left, why offer up their own lives?
“…”
While everyone hesitated indecisively, Xia Yi made a startling move.
In full view of everyone, she actually unleashed her true dragon form, transforming into a silver dragon!
