Chapter 486
by 林方方Chapter 486 Let’s Talk About Something Serious
Seeing Su Rui’s expression as if he had seen a ghost, Lin Aoxue’s face once again broke into a soft smile, and a faint blush crept up her cheeks.
“A…Auntie, what are you doing here?” Su Rui’s mouth twitched.
“I’m in my daughter’s room. Is there something wrong with that?” Wei Shuling had been dozing off earlier, but the moment she saw Su Rui arrive, she perked right up.
“Nothing wrong at all, perfectly right, perfectly right.” Su Rui wished he could find a crack in the floor to crawl into. Had he known the old lady was here, he would never have said something as flirtatious as “give me a kiss, pretty lady.”
After all, even someone as shameless as him still cared about the image he projected in front of elders.
“How about this — you two do whatever you need to do, and this old woman won’t stick around being a third wheel.”
Wei Shuling had long wanted Su Rui and Lin Aoxue to get married. She could never quite understand why two young people who were clearly in love wouldn’t just get married and have children sooner, instead of dragging things out so long.
She was getting older by the day and couldn’t wait to hold a grandchild in her arms. That was exactly why she had come over tonight to talk some sense into her daughter — only to end up falling asleep mid-conversation, then being woken up by Su Rui’s knock at the door, which led to the scene that had just unfolded.
“Thank you for your blessing, Auntie.”
Even though he and Lin Aoxue hadn’t made things official yet, having such an understanding mother-in-law figure was something truly worth being happy about.
“I’m blessing you, so you’d better return the favor.” Wei Shuling gave Su Rui a meaningful look.
“Auntie, we’ll fulfill your wishes as soon as possible.” Su Rui said with an awkward smile. He was absolutely terrified of Wei Shuling pulling this move on him.
“Mom’s really something else.” Once Wei Shuling closed the door and left, Su Rui grinned at Lin Aoxue.
“When exactly are you planning to fulfill her wishes?” Lin Aoxue said coolly.
“That…that depends on when you’re willing.” Su Rui laughed. For some reason, every time he saw that expression on Lin Aoxue’s face, he felt a little guilty.
Lin Aoxue in her nightgown was the picture of a homebody beauty — stripped of that ice-queen CEO aura, she radiated a soft, gentle loveliness from head to toe.
“I’m not willing. You’d better go find Qin Yueran or Xia Qing and ask if they are.” Lin Aoxue turned and got into bed, closing her eyes.
She was treating Su Rui as if he didn’t even exist.
Bringing up Qin Yueran was one thing, but what was this about Xia Qing? Sure, he had met her parents, but that was purely a clean, revolutionary friendship, wasn’t it?
How could the great Lord Su just swallow an insult like that? He was about to charge over to Lin Aoxue’s bed to get his revenge when something she said next stopped him cold.
“I’m going to sleep. You should hurry up and go check on that other woman.” Lin Aoxue rolled over, presenting her gracefully curved back to Su Rui.
“Which one now?”
Su Rui felt his head might actually explode. He genuinely could not guess whose name would come out of Lin Aoxue’s mouth next.
Could it be Zhang Ziwei?
It seemed like he had also played the lips-touching-lips game with that woman at some point.
“She goes by Danielle Sharp. She’s been causing a scene at Bikang Hospital lately — even your Twelve Divine Guards can barely keep her in line.”
Hearing Lin Aoxue’s words, Su Rui slapped his forehead and said, “Damn, that woman’s wounds healed way too fast!”
With that, he turned and walked out of Lin Aoxue’s room.
Less than a minute later, the roar of a car engine echoed through the courtyard.
Lin Aoxue didn’t seem sleepy at all. She sat up, picked up the Chronicles of the Western Dark World from her nightstand with her slender hand, flipped through several pages, and found she couldn’t focus on a single word.
Lin Aoxue simply got up, gazed out at the deep darkness of the night beyond the window, and murmured to herself, “Danielle Sharp of the Hades Palace — what exactly are you trying to do?”
…………
Some women look bad in anything they wear. Others are the complete opposite — even dressed in the plainest clothes, their breathtaking beauty cannot be concealed.
For Danielle Sharp, whose looks ranked in the top 3 of the entire Western Dark World, she was undoubtedly the latter.
At this moment she was dressed in the simplest of hospital gowns, leaning back against the headboard, her silky long hair draped over her shoulders, exuding a kind of soft, gentle beauty.
That was only from her profile, though. Anyone looking at her straight on would think very differently.
Because her eyes were fixed in a predatory glare, radiating a murderous light, as if she might explode at any moment and devour the two men sitting across from her.
“Jin Taizhu, why have your injuries healed even faster than mine?”
Sitting across from Danielle Sharp was a man with a stern, cold face. Without a doubt, the perpetually stone-faced member of the Twelve Divine Guards was none other than Jin Taizhu.
“Maybe it’s because I’m a man and I don’t have periods.” Jin Taizhu said in a low, muffled voice.
Hearing that answer, Danielle Sharp’s pretty nose nearly twisted sideways with rage.
“What are you talking about?”
“I’m not lying to you.” Jin Taizhu said with complete seriousness. “For women, the menstrual period is when vital energy fluctuates the most. It causes a massive drain on energy and physical strength, and if that isn’t replenished in time, the cumulative effect over the long term will cause irreversible damage to the body.”
The towering man beside him, built like a black iron tower, burst out laughing — a laugh that boomed like a great bell.
“Who knew, Old Jin — behind that poker face of yours, you actually crack jokes!” Tarzan said in amazement, clearly impressed by Jin Taizhu’s sense of humor.
It seemed Su Rui had assigned both Jin Taizhu and Tarzan to guard Danielle Sharp together.
On top of that, there were several more Divine Guards downstairs rotating shifts.
After all, she was a prized favorite of Hades himself. Though she had been trapped in China by Su Rui’s scheme and was still recovering from her injuries, her condition was gradually improving. Given her skills and her status, one moment of carelessness could spell serious trouble.
“I wasn’t joking. It’s a fact.” Jin Taizhu’s gaze was calm, as if a top-tier beauty like Danielle held absolutely no appeal for him whatsoever.
“Then how do you know I’m on my period right now?” Danielle Sharp glared furiously at Jin Taizhu, that murderous look flashing in her eyes again. “Were you spying on me? Are you looking to die?”
“He wasn’t spying on you, and he never said you’re on your period right now.”
At that moment, a voice laced with mockery rang out from beyond the door, and immediately after, Su Rui’s figure appeared inside the room.
This made both Jin Taizhu and Tarzan’s eyes blur, because neither of them had caught how Su Rui had gotten there.
Only Danielle Sharp seemed to have tracked Su Rui’s movement clearly. Her expression froze for a moment. “Your strength has improved again?”
“Just a minor trick, nothing worth mentioning.”
Su Rui smiled. “As for the question from before, let me answer it for Jin Taizhu. You’ve been stuck here for over a month now. If you haven’t had your period during that time, it can only mean your cycle is irregular. Even an idiot could figure that out — yet you asked it with such a straight face. Tsk tsk, it really does prove that old saying.”
“What old saying?” Danielle Sharp’s face flushed red — whether from anger or embarrassment was hard to tell — and she asked without thinking.
“Big chest, empty head.” Su Rui said flatly, his tone dripping with mockery.
Danielle Sharp instinctively glanced down at the prominent curves beneath her hospital gown, then realized the mockery in Su Rui’s words, and immediately slammed her hand against the bed in fury. “Don’t think I won’t kill you right now!”
“Come on, we’re not children. What’s the point of threatening to kill each other all day. If you think you’re faster than Jin Taizhu and Tarzan’s bullets, then by all means, go wild. I don’t mind.”
Su Rui’s words deflated Danielle Sharp once again — when you’re under someone else’s roof, you have to bow your head.
“Don’t you dare tell me you want to kill me just because I made fun of your chest.” Su Rui said with contempt. “What’s a little teasing? I got a full eyeful of you in the bath and I’m the one who should feel wronged here. Isn’t that unfair to me?”
Back then, Danielle Sharp had led a group of people to hunt Su Rui down. Tired and hot, she had bathed in a forest spring — only for Su Rui to watch the whole thing from start to finish through his scope. The tantalizing scene was truly beyond words.
Had Su Rui pulled the trigger at that moment, there was a very real chance he could have killed Danielle. But he hadn’t.
This was absolutely not some misplaced mercy. Su Rui always had his reasons for what he did. Take right now, for instance — he could have used far more “forceful” methods on the woman he had under house arrest, yet he seemed content to tease her with a few words and nothing more.
Hearing Su Rui bring up old business in front of the other two, Danielle Sharp truly wanted to kill him a hundred times over.
Watching her seethe with rage, Su Rui rubbed his nose with an air of innocence. He still felt he was the wronged party here. Everything about Danielle Sharp was fine — except for that mole on her backside, which he had spotted quite clearly through his sniper scope at the time.
“You two, step outside.”
Su Rui turned to Jin Taizhu and Tarzan.
The former gave a nod and left without a word. The latter flashed a meaningful smile — the kind any man would understand perfectly.
“Sir, do take care of yourself.”
“Get out.”
And just like that, the two-meter-tall man was kicked out the door by Su Rui.
“What are you trying to do?”
Danielle Sharp asked warily as she watched Su Rui sit down on the edge of the bed.
Her injuries hadn’t fully healed yet, and her strength was still significantly compromised. If Su Rui actually tried to force himself on her, she genuinely wouldn’t be able to stop him.
“Relax, I have zero interest in you.”
Su Rui curled his lip. “Otherwise, do you think you’d have made it to today in one piece? I’m a man of integrity!”
A man of integrity her ass. Danielle Sharp spat in disgust. If he were a man of integrity, why did he spy on her bathing? And why did he keep bringing it up over and over again?
“Let’s talk business.”
Su Rui fixed his gaze on Danielle Sharp with a grin and said, “When exactly is His Lordship Hades planning to grace China with a visit?”
